Angry Birds Go! Development Set - Angry Birds Plush

Despite some experimental titles, Rovio’s 2012 campaign was one to remember featuring record downloads, merchandise sales, new animations, and of course a handful of the most memorable games in franchise history. Rovio had raised the bar so high that no matter what they did in the following year, it simply could not match their prior success. However, it wasn’t for lack of trying, because 2013’s flagships would prove to be the most innovative games yet, especially the topic of today’s video. Angry Birds Go! Was Rovio’s first major deviation from the traditional Angry Birds format, taking the iconic characters and placing them in a carefully-crafted kart racer. To this day, fans look back on this title with wistful nostalgia and the Telepods that were inextricably linked to it. However, while everybody was focused on Hasbro’s QR-coded figures, Commonwealth Toy & Novelty was hard at work on a line of plushies set to coincide with Go!’s release. This reality was not meant to be, as merchandise sales waned due to plummeting interest in the franchise, and the line was scrapped mid-development. For nearly a decade, the Angry Birds plush cognescenti was completely unaware of any of this, but that all changed due to a series of discoveries in 2021. While that moment was exciting, it left collectors like me yearning for answers. Is there any more information out there? What happened to the samples? Why was the line cancelled? Two years later, I have all the answers, and so much more. So let’s “GO!” look back at the now infamous Angry Birds Go! development line, covering every aspect imaginable, including an in-depth showcase of the never-before-seen items themselves. This video will include analysis, postulations, and some storytelling.

king pig looks so amazing if they ever released this set of plushies they would have been one of the fan favourites
Another maximus W, truly a one of a kind set and also a one of a kind video, the amount of dedication you have towards the franchise is certainly unreal, your ambition truly has no bounds, hopefully one day you'll cover every single one that exists, though that might be a tall order.

That’s awesome that after a decade the full set was found! I remember that when I first saw these plushies I was looking forward to them coming out, it’s ashamed they were never released..

I really wish they released these, everything here is amazing! Though it does suck that there was never a finalized bubbles design, I atleast know that there was at one point going to be one. Great video!
Awesome video! The editing was amazing! I was thinking that the four development sample 8" plushes looked very similar to the MLB plushes.

Not only that, but also the fur texture. My MLB plushes have three tush tags, one that says the normal stuff like licensing and 2014. The second is the MLB merch tag. The last one has some random numbers, and then 12/13 maybe the date they were manufactured? Could the Go plushes be recycled into the MLB plushes?

Two awesome things in this video: 1) The Unreleased Go! Plushes, of course! My favorite is especially the hairy Foreman Pig and Toons King Pig. 2) The exponentially improved editing! I can't believe no one talked about how awesome this video looks yet. Very solid display dude! Keep that Commonwealth grind strong!

Thank you for the feedback! Means the world to me that viewers appreciate the grind that these videos are. Though out of curiosity, what in particular made this video "exponentially" more visually appealing than the last few? Was there something I did differently, or is it something intangible such as the flow of the script which paired with the visuals, or the quality of the visuals themselves? Or perhaps the creativity of the ideas? Would love to know so I can try and implement more of what I did here into future videos!

Random Fact, each track is missing either the track’s first or second character (Seedway: Stella [Second Racer, First Champion] Rocky Road: Blues [First Champion] Air: Matilda [Second Champion] Stunt: Hal [First Champion]) I only listed the characters as per the original order and not the 2.0 order, as 2.0 sucks and the Plushes were developed when GO merch was made, 2013

Yellow and Red are, in theory, equally the rarest, since they were only available in Claw Machines.

Don't think it's that complicated. People throw away packaging in most instances rather than preserving it, leading to these kinds of things being unpreserved today.

Also, to answer the Corporal/Helmet Pig discrepancy, Most of the merchandise was just wrong. The Burger King Toy was wrong, those bottle caps from 6:26 also had the wrong design. I'm 90% sure the Telepod was also incorrect. I assume licenses just got the "Early Toons Design" from the first couple episodes. It's the only logical explanation.

Only racing games with exclusively licensed cars. Think Need For Speed, Forza, Gran Turismo, Driveclub, TDU, etc.

I don't necessarily think they made the wrong decision here. It just wasn't financially viable to the time to release such a niche set to a dwindling and narrow market. We AB fans would have gobbled it up, but there's only so much money and only so many fans.
