Habari Gani! I am from the islands of Antiguan and Barbuda in the West Indies. My uncle did a DNA test to determine where his descendants are from. The test results stated we are from the Kimbundu people in Angola. I am delighted to know where my descendants are from and would love to visit Angola. May God bless the Angolan people. I pray that our countries will develop a wonderful friendship for decades to come.

I knew Antiguans have Angolan roots because of the food. Saw a girl from Antigua talking about eating funge I had to research and I found out the national dishes are literally the same 🤯

Hello everyone, greetings according to the time zone! My name is Sónia, I'm Angolan and I feel flattered to know that people from all over the world see small snippets of a truly extraordinary natural life full of "Much" that we can also find utopian (each person has a unique understanding and personal) I really hope that one day I can get to know my country better, in terms of regions unknown to the eyes of the world, both in heaven and on earth 🌏

A little known history fact. The first enslaved people in the New colonies(now the US) coming directly from Africa were from Angola and they went straight to Hampton and Jamestown, Virginia. They came from the kingdoms of Kongo and Ndongo. I don’t know much about them. When we speak of African Americans enslaved we only speak of West Africa. We never think South West Africa. We think they all went to Brazil.

Not all of them went to Brazil. My ancestor was one. He was also one of the first freedman in British Colonial America. Free more than 200 years before Emancipation. Many of his decendants lived distinguished lives. A few fought in the American Revolution, war of 1812 and the Civil War, and WW1. Multiple Archers have became Post Masters, Teachers, Educators, Pilots and more forever making an indelibly mark on America. John (Jno) Archer was born in Angola 1645. He ended up on a Portuguese slave ship headed to Virginia where he would regain his freedom and the freedom of future generations.

@@hollybug-76542 from what it says on the slavery logs, the first of the mbundu tribe that arrived in the USA, was originally being taken to Mexico? &then was redirected to Virginia. Soon there were millions of Congo & Angolans in usa. So much they named the prison in louisiana, “Angola penitentiary” to remind them, Angolans will forever be locked up. In South Carolina , the Angolans tried to have a rebellion, one with Gullah Jack, a man from Angola who joined the Gullah ppl in South Carolina & also the Angolan and Congo group in stono rebellion. Yes millions more was taken to brazil and Columbia? but it way way more congo & ANgolan that were brought to USA than people think..especially congo!
