Angenieux S2: an old cinematic lens

we have decided to start the series using the Angenieux lenses, there are more than 10 Angenieux in various focal length in the collection, follow by others such as the Kipnotik and Cooke. it's likely we'd create a whole new channel focusing on these cinema lenses.
As usual, my goal is to use these lenses in digital, film and video, hoping to give a more comprehensive impression on these lenses.
I was nervous when I was shooting with this Angenieux S2, afraid I might scratch it or something. These lenses are for collectors only, I get high blood pressure using it :P

Very, very cool to see this lens on a Leica SL. You say you will never be able to get a real cinema look from this lens, but give this a go. In daylight, stop down to at least f8 and shoot in L-log. Get a variable ND and reduce the exposure to expose just to the point where the highlights clip. Shooting streets at night, stop down and/or reduce exposure to protect the highlights. You can bring the shadows up in post but you can't recover the highlights, they are gone once they have been blown. In terms of exposure, think of shooting video on the SL as like exposing slide film, where you have much less room for error and you have to protect the highlights.

Oh man I want to test this lens too, but I'd stop it down to F16 for every shot!! Forget the bokeh. Good job again guys. Can't wait to see you guys soon.
