First of all, what she did with this song was incredible. I don't know of any artist in the world who could come close to duplicating what she did here. It's a pleasure to watch her perform but to fully appreciate her vocal artistry, listen to this with your eyes closed. You'll see what I mean. Your question was a good one and this is something that will be addressed by Angelina as she becomes more and more recognized as a musical force that cannot be denied regardless of what road she takes looking ahead. In my opinion, as long as the music she chooses to sing is worthy enough, she will not shy away from anything. We need to remember, Angelina 'is music' and for her to sing some pop nonsense, that will never happen. She loves jazz and will always include that element into songs she sings whenever appropriate. But, for the hard core jazz fans I believe she will dedicate albums exclusively jazz. Will she continue doing covers? Why not. She is introducing classic music from yesteryear to a generation of people who have never heard music like that. And, originals? Ah, that's where it really gets interesting. This is, perhaps, where Angelina actually creates a whole new genre of music combining more than one in the same song. Her creativity will shine and, BELIEVE ME, no one will interfere with her goals and desires. Will she sing songs written by other people? Let's put it this way, if you wrote what you consider a masterpiece would you want Angelina to sing it for you? If Angelina likes the song, you bet she will.

Ace I was in the same boat as you, I had never heard the original so right after listening to Angelina my curiosity got the best of me and I found and listened to it. Since then I have heard Angelina sing it over a hundred times. Thumbs up sir, always great reactions.

I feel that she should be labeled like a universal artist, she is a master at all genres, you just can’t pigeonhole her into one particular genre. She is excellent at jazz, R&B, pop, country, even classical at times. The girl switches from one style and genre to another freely,, her talent is astounding, and her love of different types of music is so varied, She is just so much more than labeling her as one particular genre. Her abilities are somewhat limitless. PS. If they try to push her toward the pop category it would only be because most people listen to that, and that is where the money is because that is where they sell the most records, if I may use that antiquated term, But that would be the wrong thing to do in my opinion.

In my opinion, if the contract that Angelina has signed with Republic Records gives her the freedom that has been suggested, any attempts to channel her into a particular direction, without her approval, will be met with a determined "No" from Angelina.

You ask the million $ question,which genre?Michael Buble has done alright with his" jazz pop".However Angelina is much more versatile vocally.Look at Lady Gaga,started with jazz,blues but had to turn to pop to become a superstar,then she revisited her roots later with Tony Bennett.Amy Winehouse didn't do too shabby as a contemporary jazz artist,because she had that unique sound and incredible stage presence.Angelina may turn out to be the most gifted of the gifted,but like the others she has to find and choose her sound.Let's enjoy that ride along with her and give her space to grow.

The thing is once you hear Angelina do a cover, listening to the original is a let down She kills it. She is her own genre with Jazz and Blues influence..

Angelina seems to sing all of her songs in the AJ genre. I've never heard another artist sing that genre, although some have tried. It must take a certain quality that others lack. It's really great that she is able to revive so many songs from so many other genres by simply singing them in her own.

“They” can put her wherever they like she’ll always be “Angelina” I think that’s why they beat so many offers for so long so she can be herself.

I know I'm in the minority here but I hope AJ becomes a pop star! If she just stays in jazz her voice will not be heard by the masses as jazz has a very limited audience. Angelina can sing anything and make it sound great. She has covered so many great artists with songs that I didn't know and after listening to the original AJ's version is always better. She covers pop stars like Lana, Adele, Sam Smith,Rihanna,John Legend, and Miley Cyrus all better versions. Then many of the greats that are on par with the originals. She needs to be heard to achieve her goal of "singing for the world" and that can only be achieved with pop which can cover all genres. Many pop songs can be classified to other genres. I listen to Lana del Rey's the version of this song and it was good but she should file charges against Angelina for grand theft song because she did steal it from her and it was Grand!!!

This is from back when, before she changed her style (which I can’t follow anymore). But this one, the best version of that song. She is Pop. No longer jazz. She says “jazzy”, but I don’t get that from her anymore. She now leans on that fry voice allot more and less of those beautify glissandos, diphthongs, and even the beautiful vibratos. Her runs are also more showy than before. And she’s switched away from her slight Scandinavian accent to a more LA twang. Yeech! Tells me she’s all business now.
