I love that she said Juliette is the love of her life. Those two are so close and will be their entire life.

I’m a dad with a son and daughter. I am also a guy that grew up with four sisters and one brother.

This was spectacular and possibly the best performance of her career thus far. That takes into consideration the vocals, the video, piano, and symbolism. I believe it surely is a taste of things to come. Your reaction was sincere and enjoyable, and thank you for your continued support of Angelina. No not a girl dad, however grew up with 3 sisters and a mom, only male so I sorta know what it’s like being the only male, however I didn’t grow up with 3 perfectionist ( Angelina, mom Sara, and grandma Mery) there’s so much going on in this video first Angelina said grandma and mom did the set, cousins and little sister in the video grandma produced, Mery never misses a chance to film her grandchildren. But then you have black leather outfit, Priscilla hair, red guitar, when lounging in chair blue suede boots and classic Elvis with the guitar neck pointing down and only a few strums. Angelina’s voice is continuing to grow most people don’t understand she’s only 16, and still has another 10 or fifteen years before it’s fully developed. Anyway I’m sure you understand that an education out ways fame and her team is doing a stellar job by holding her back not that she’s known worldwide now.

She did a successful concert Summertour last weeks where she sang 21 different Songs life. Her Stage presence and the communication with her international Angels from all over the world was exceptionally. Yeah! She’s something special, isn’t she? Pure Velvet Perfection! This vocal arrangement was all Angelina, I have no doubt in collaboration with a stellar team including Rob Christie & Mery Zamani her Grandmother. She is a Master Storyteller. The video is shot in the same Antique Store that she did 'My Funny Valentine' on Valentine’s Day. I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. Did you notice that right foot raise it''s heal to cradle the guitar a couple of times in the performance. I was waiting for her to throw in a little shake to it in homage to the King. Could that have been intentional? That is Rob Christie on piano. Sister Juliette and a couple of Uncle Michael's Babies. I think that makes them cousins not nieces. Full Black Leather Bodysuit, the guitar from his concert in 68 and the hair a homage to Priscilla Presley. Yeah! She can bring tears to your eyes. Epic. I think her cousins are portraying the children of the family in which there are suspicious minds (story line of the song) ... hence a trap. Everyone's emotional reaction to the first image of the baby shows how strong the emotional bonds to family are. Why would she be representing herself in this song? Why do you guess, or do you have inside info on the meaning of the images?

@@nyima04011 Thanks Deborah. I base my interpretation on my knowledge of Angelina's journey from an 18 month old little girl singing a "classic" of music history 'I Will Always Love You' . She has been listening to these classics on repeat on U-Tube since then under the guidance and inspiration of her Grandmother Mery Zamani. She has been performing these classics since her first time in studio at 6 yrs old.. She has continued this journey through her 1st introduction to the world with her "Classic'" 'Gloomy Sunday and following with her many performances at her many Jazz Festivals, TV performances, Concerts, and charity events, studio recordings and practice sessions at home accompanied or not. The location in the Antique store represents these classics (like the furniture) of another era. To me she portrays wonder at all these classics surrounding her. as she has travelled this road. Her tribute to Elvis is at her present age, today, each stage represented by her cousins and sister and ending with Angelina herself on the couch still admiring all this history surrounding her. The beautiful rendition of the song, and other tributes are in the leather outfit, Guitar and hair a tribute to Priscilla. Just my interpretation but it makes the most sense to me. .♥👣👸🏻

The song was written by Mark James. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, he is said to have remarked "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of." Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song. The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family. Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along). She has such an amazing voice, I've only seen her covering Amy Winehouse in the past. When I saw this video in my subscriptions I thought I had to check it out cause I didn't think there was any way she could get her voice deep enough to cover Elvis, but she knocked it out of the park. @@johnnash2815 you should absolutely check out all her stuff..she has nearly 200 recordings starting from when she was 6. She is a phenom. She started as a jazz vocalist but her recording of 'I Who Have Nothing' (Ben E. King/Tom Jones) at the age of 6 is an excellent place to start ☺️

Angelina's voice has an intensity to it that doesn't derive from pitch, or volume, or even power but is from a more subtle (but no less impacting) source, an emotional connection (some say Duende ). My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust.

What is amazing to me, is how she brings out the story of the song. No matter what she sings, when she is done, you know the story, you know what the writer had to say. Many of the songs she has covered I have just thought "Wow, that is what they were saying". This is one of them. I didn't get this from the Elvis version. I get it, get it big-time in the Angelina version.

She plays four instruments: piano, guitar, violin and flute! The two little ones are her Manager Uncle Mike’s girls, her cousins, and the older one is her sister, Juliette. Grandma produced this and made it a family affair. Of course, the girls are supposed to represent Angelina as she grows.

She is indeed a wonderful person with her barefoot performing to raise awareness for poor kids the most visible part. The story is sad with love being destroyed by distrust. With Angelina I fully feel this sadness. She is so good at story telling and conveying emotions. The little girls are her cousins and the bigger girl her younger sister. They give me the image of Angelina growing up wearing white dresses like Angelina wore. I have two daughters and one son. I love them all to pieces :-)

Picasso did entire drawings in a single line, AJ does the same with a guitar on a song .. absolutely minimal and still a masterpiece.

Angelina is a musical and human savant. She was given a gift from a higher power and she started learning and experiencing with it starting at age one and a half. She is the greatest artist, singer, composer and human being that has ever walked the earth. And this Angel who is just starting to spread her wings does this journey barefoot for humankind.

Great reaction Sebs, this is her unique and fantastic rewrite of this iconic song. Yes, it's a different song, but it's the same, yes, it's still that song, but somehow (in a way only Angelina can process) it's even more emotional, it's slower, yes, but it's closer to flowing of your soul. In short, it's "made in Angelina" and it's absolutely gorgeous and you just want it to last longer. 💛🧡❤️

My best friend is a father to girls, well young women now. He has such a close relationship with them. He has encouraged them academically but also to travel and experience life. He had all brothers. He said he never wanted boys. He says he loves being surrounded by beautiful intelligent creative and self possessed women.

Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day. Elvis' version is great and it always was, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own. When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 82 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched. Her phrasing in the last bridge is great. And she got Elvis’s ‘Oh Yea’ at the end of the song. The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammys), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers. The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister. 🙂

Sixteen year old Angelina has already achieved elite master level vocal capabilities. We can hear the continued evolution and development of her vocal capabilities in this cover and in her recent concerts in her home country of Norway. I highly recommend that you watch and react to her live outdoor performances from these two concerts. Since Angelina completed her academic requirements this year I think her Norway concerts are the launching site of her professional career. The grape vine says Angelina’s debut album with Republic Records is going to be released in August.

I heard this cover by Angelina several times (at least 40 🙈) before I saw the movie! That was beneficial! I noticed immediately that the film started out with the same opening of the song as Angelina. By a female singer! So that must have been her inspiration! And this cover is full of 'hints' to the life of Elvis and the movie. And Angelina has covered more of his songs. You can hear almost all of them (partly). She is special and has a great taste for music and art!

AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 21 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. The main pianist, a five-time nominated for Grammys, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Did I forget to mention Jimmy Z, the famous Sax Player who worked with Rod Steward, Etta James, the Eurythmics, and Doctor Dre, was part of the band for the show? Jimmy stated that AJ was the best he has ever played for. Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California played the guitar, and was the MC of the show.
