Angelina already has a large fan base in Japan as she is 1/4 Japanese herself :) BTW this was in march 2017, just a couple months after Angelina turned 11 years old.

This song was sang by Hibari Misora who was called genius of singing and up to today, we do have no one else to come same place of her in Japan. But now I feel Angelina is exactly such a singer who could have no shame for singing Hibari Misora's song.

I was about 7 years old when my family and I use to live in Japan from 1969-1971. Our dad was in the US Navy and we stationed at Naval Base Atsugi...It was one of the best, fun times of my youth, and for my family as well...Such a beautiful culture... AJ singing in Japanese sends me back to those times..

What can this angel not do? This is just remarkable

I feel like a KZread stalker because every time I look at an Angelina reaction Rusty has already been there LOL. I don't know if any one has offered you a heartfelt thank you for your dedication and advocacy for this amazing phenom, but I for one, greatly appreciate the time and efforts to educate and introduce this young lady to the world. I'm thinking she was honoring her Japanese grandfather by doing this song in his native tongue. Read somewhere that the audience believed she had perfect control of the language while singing. What else would one expect from this girl with unlimited singing ability? If we ever get visited by beings from outer space, let them listen to our barefooted princess since she connects with anyone and everyone on this planet I'm sure.

Her accent is quite good. Ordinary Americans (can I say this way) don't mimic the Japanese accent very well. Actually the acent is very bad. Also ordinary Japanese has very bad English accent. This is cultural.

Litterally nothing this divine spirit can't do. This is stunningly gorgeous. One of my faves.

She will be a star for the whole world. I think too it will be fun to do a japanese song on her next Album. She has a large fangroup in Asia💖💓

There are no words to convey what an exceptional vocalist, musician, performer and person this young woman is. She continually amazes.

She is like no other singer in the world when you realize her versatility. Doesn't matter the genre, or even the language. I don't understand Japanese but her singing still electrifies my inner being, even in that language. Don't know much about Nordic Gods but they have blessed her with a 'one of a kind' ability to reach the inside of us humans with love.

A VERY popular Japanese song, even in Hawaii. If she can master the Japanese words she will endear generations of Japanese fans, young and old.

There was the name,It's a while since I first heard her singing this Japanese song,and at once I was thinking of the only japanese song thats ever in my life(I am 68)was a hit in Europe,at least here in Norway,couldn't remember the name,but it was Sukyaki.It's a wonderful song,and I was thinking that it would have been wonderful hearing Angelina singing Sukyaki.

Thanks Rusty! I really love this melody. It's a beautiful song and I wish Angelina could record this again in 2020, but I doubt Sing King has an instrumental track. They might. But perhaps an acoustic with Ivan would be just as good.

I'm not surprised, her grandfather is Japanese. You could probably throw a little Persian and Swedish in the mix.

Her father is SWEDISH...she's Norwegian only by NATIONAL location of birth!!! Her mom, Japanese and Iranian.

RAPTURE SOON Are you for real? She is Norwegian, period. Born and raised. Her mom is also Norwegian (with Persian/Japanese roots). Her dad is Swedsh but she has never lived in Sweden and she doesnt speak swedish, only Norwegian. Many Norwegian kids have one swedish parent btw, cause many swedes lives and works in Norway.

❤Thank you so much for the translated lyrics. I love the way our barefoot princess sings this song. Perfection! I didn’t know what the song was about but it sounded so amazingly beautiful. I get mixed emotions listening to this song. It makes my heart warm and at peace but at the same time I get tears in my eyes. And in her book, when the little girl asked her what her mom, Sara, did, she said her mom was 'a teacher at a Japanese school'. So I'm sure grandma, grandpa, uncle and mom were all able to, and eager to help her with her Japanese singing.🤗

I know it has been said that angelina can speak some Farsi ( her grandmother’s native language ) and Japanese ( her maternal grandfather’s native language and the language her mother and uncle presumably were exposed to during their childhood) but it appears she may be able to also read some Japanese as she seems to be reading lyrics from the music sheet .

I have to say that Angelina sounds so much prettier than the cultural icon of Japan 🤗 Angelina sustains a rich and round tone all the way, Misora's voice gets very thin in those high notes - though to be fair she was in her 50s when the song was recorded.

Rusty, thank you for posting this enhanced video of the song. Angelina sings “Kawa no nagare no yo ni” so beautifully. This was a hugely popular song in the late 80s and 90s.and she must have heard it played by her grandparents when she was growing up, In the original clip, during the conversation with the MC, she says she doesn’t speak Japanese So it has to be because she has a perfect ear that she has no discernible accent at all.

Actually I think she didn't have much time to rehearse. It shouldn't be hard for her to sing Japanese songs (usually they are easy). I believe her accent was quite good though. This song became famous with Misora Hibari a very repected person (there are some controverses though). She was kind of a Japanese Marilyn Monroe version who in times of war performed for the soldiers by acting and singing since she was a kid.

Angelina is fantastic, but the cameraman did her an injustice by not keeping the camera centered upon her.

As she often does, Angelina is reading the lyrics. I wonder if they are in Japanese script or transliterated phonetically into her native alphabet.
