The wonderful thing is we have Angelina with a 10 year olds physical voice singing this song. It is uniquely beautiful and can’t be replicated by an adult. So it is impossible to compare the two. I only wish we had a tape of Ella singing this song at 10. Both are Gorgeous without compare

Just the fact alone that a 10 year old girl warrants a side by side with one the greatest voices of all time is testament alone to the level of talent AJ exhibits......nice reaction.

This video reminds me of the mornings I spent milking the family cow. Angelina's voice, because of her age, is like the body temperature, whole milk coming fresh to the milking pail and Ella's voice is like the whole cream as it separates from the milk. Angelina's voice at 17, "Unchained Melody" at the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony in November, 2023, is almost as rich and textured as Ella's was. I hear Ella's vibrato in Angelina's singing, then I smile at good memories.

Maybe in 37 years AJ will have more of the huskiness Ella displays. But let's face it, Ella's voice and delivery probably will always be unique.

2 shows actually. One at 7:00 and one at 9:30 at the Westgate Resort

Angelina was anticipating her soon move from her home, Oslo, a home she loves to this day, and her move from there to LA in the USA. Regardless, this was very poignant to her, and all the more lovely because of her very deep connections to this country. A beautiful country indeed.

Quite agree with your conclusion: the singing, by both, elevates the song - to something wonderful.. It is rather incredible that Angelina's voice, at 10, holds up so well when played directly in comparison to one of the greatest singers in the genre ever as an adult...

Where alot of people make mistakes is when they do comparisons, they expect them to sound like the orginal. If thats what a person wants, they should just listen to the original.. Angelina always gives the original artist their due respect, but she makes the song sound like its hers .

Art is art. You may not even like a style, but recognize when a job is done well. And Angelina's superpowers made me appreciate jazz, which I previously considered boring.

I don't know where Ella sang this (studio etc) but, Angelina's is from a live rooftop performance (oops I guess the end showed that), or at least that's the only performance of this song I have seen.

Cole Porter wrote the song in 1944 for a Broadway play that failed and the song, at that time, more or less disappeared. Ella revived it with great success in her Cole Porter Song Book in 1956. It's a gift to us all that Angelina is again reviving some of these songs, whether or not it is a personal favorite.

I had to pull the tempo of the Ella version down by the maximum I allow myself, about 4%. It just about holds together.

Ella Fitzgerald was rated the #1 Jazz Singer of All Time, and Angelina's genius was in knowing you can't really radically improve the song. Therefore, she simply slows it down and adds a few subtle tweaks of her own. It should be noted that Ella recorded it in a professional studio with a orchestra, whereas Angelina does it in 'one take' on an outdoor rooftop with a single guitarist just keeping time for her. All that said, I prefer Angelina's rendition, for it is pure perfection with more emotion laden penetration than Ella and did it at 10 years of Age.

The thing that’s truly amazing is that a 10 year old is holding her own with someone who is considered one of the greatest voices of all time, and she can’t even get people to buy tickets to her 2 shows on Feb 29th in Las Vegas.

Because music is at it's vulgarness. You have to be almost naked. Running around on stage. Or filling the Airwaves with things that isn't singing or music. Nothing sentimental 😮

The original video sounds better than this mashup.

The sound quality of Angelina is horrible. You need to watch the live performance on the roof of a tv station in Oslo and afterward she was on her way to the USA for a visit. Even Ella doesn't sound 'right'. Angelina was 10 and this was a song many people in the industry listened to her sing and knew she was very special, more than a wonderful kid singer. She had the moxie of a seasoned vet. PLEASE listen to her live performance. When Ella's spirit hears Angelina sing this she smiles and knows the kid knows what she is doing. Btw, Ella had an orchestra, Angelina, a guitarist on a rooftop.

Thanks Robert, I was going to write the same thing. Angelina was way off, probably a result of trying to mesh different tempo & backing music. Angelina sounds so much better on her original video than on this mash up.
