In the American Songwriter interview Angelina revealed how she felt while recording this song. “When I was in the booth, while I was singing, my tears were running,” she says. “To be honest, it was like a feeling of relief that all my feelings were written down and I felt relieved.” That speaks volumes about Angelina’s ability to transfer her emotions to her audience, who in turn will feel the same. What a beautiful gift to anyone who has grieved for the loss of a loved one. Angelina is truly a gift to us all.

You don’t know how long you’ll be together I was my wife almost 50 years ago and she has passed away a few days ago. It’s heartbreaking but I know she’s there and she’s always be in my heart and she said she’ll be wait for me on the other side, do you a lot of pain or sickness and she went through real painful things go back and help her nobody but she had her faith in the Lord and I got her through. She’s missed dearly. She’s always on my mind, but I know she’s always there in my heart and my spirit she said she’ll meet me on the other side. Yes, it’s a pain pill thing to go through but we must go on.

Kristin, this is a tribute to a grandfather who passed away. It conveys the sadness of loss so sweetly and that is why I love it so much! From everything I have seen Angelina is a happy, well-adjusted 15 year old who has many friends and deep love of a wonderful family. From her own song "What is Life" and how she sings "Valerie" I think "Million Miles" is only one side of her writing. She is getting older and as she experiences finding love and losing love I'd be willing to be that her best writing is yet to come. I can't wait to see what lyrics she writes born of her own journey through life. To hear her sing about the joy of finding someone, the bump in the road when someone breaks up with her or she finds the relationship isn't working is what I expect to be outstanding. My bet is we haven't seen anything yet.

OK, now that I'm all caught up on your reactions to Angelina, I have a couple of suggestions. Two songs that not many people react to, for various reasons, but I think you will enjoy them as much as I do. The first is a song that isn't in the normal genre for what is expected with Angelina. "Above The Water" was written by a fellow Norwegian duo called TRXD, just for Angelina to sing. The thing is, they do Electronic Dance Music. Now, I'm 66, and the first time hearing it, I wasn't sure about it, but after listening to it a few dozen times in the year since it was released, I like it a lot. It is a song written by Baby Fuzz, called "I'm Still Holding Out For You". As I said, it was a demo, and Baby Fuzz wasn't even aware it was done until after he released it. Someone with access, reportedly took a copy of the demo, and posted it to KZread, (as a fan video) that is why it says "LEAKED" when the video starts. It is rumored that Angelina said she would never sing this song again because of the reference to suicide near the end, and the fact that she lost a dear friend to suicide. Thank you for your vulnerable reaction. When Angelina brings out the big emotional guns (as here, when she is moved) there is little chance of escape for the rest of us. She said she was crying while recording the lyric version.

I remember when you reviewed her cover song dedication shortly after losing her paternal grandfather. This first professional release was written after losing her maternal grandfather. She spared us in this video recording of the fact that during studio production rehearsals she had tears streaming down her cheeks. And I know that you would not be able to bear seeing that. This precious gifted girl has shared with the world what she goes through in tragedy because she loves us as she was loved by her grandfathers, both of them. Bless you.

Being able to convey emotions she has never experienced is just one of the things that makes this young lady so special. Angelina once said, that when she sings, she goes in to a magical place in her mind, and we are all so very lucky that she is able to share that place with us. It is just my opinion, but I feel as though the songs must whisper to Angelina, and say, "Sing us how we were meant to be sung", and she does.

Thanks Kristin for the new wonderful and sweet reaction at the live version of this beautiful song Angelina's. Seeing her sing again after almost a year was absolutely fantastic, how to be able to admire her evolution, as a person and as a singer, after having listened to her voice hundreds of times in the previous adorable video with the drawings of her grandmother, to see her now interpret her song with such skill, even changing it slightly is beautiful. This is a very sweet and very intense song dedicated with infinite love to the grandfather and to all the people who have lost someone, but it is also a song full of hope, with beautiful lyrics ❤️ ❤️

Kristin, nice to see you again. I want to believe 2021 will bring us all out of the funk we have been for so long. And allowing Angelina to pull our heart strings along the way will keep us humble and confident to face the challenges which lie ahead. Often times we tear up when she sings to us but at the same time we smile because of the great affection we have for her. And, she feels the love we return to her which gives her reason to fulfill her dream of filling our hearts with love. She's amazing.

Kristin, Thank You for presenting Angelina, our favorite torch singer. Torch singers were an important part of the 1940's, 50's and early 60's. Back in the day, torch singers were sometimes seen laying on pianos (it was part of their act), but now that has become something to mock. Jeri Ryan briefly stepped out of character on Star Trek Voyager to do a torch singer bit on one of the episodes where the crew was stuck in a simulation that was 1943 Paris France. Wouldn't it be cool to travel back in time to Paris in 1943, with all the intrigue and danger, to see Angelina perform in a casbah?

I've often thought, when seeing Angelina perform songs like "Someone Like You" and "You Make Me Feel So Young", that she is the epitome of the "torch" singers of old. It would be a wonderful fantasy to she her dressed like in "Someone Like You", in a black and white video, standing beside the piano. Saying "play it again" to Hoagy Carmichael, at the piano, then singing "Stardust". WOW! Even though Hoagy is dead now, if she ever performed "Stardust" (once voted the greatest song of all time), someone could make that video happen. I can dream can't I?

You are right, Kristin, many of Angelina's songs make us cry. I have heard some of them hundreds of times and she still gets me. Here's one that is guaranteed to make you smile throughout the entire video. It is "When You're Smiling", based on the version done by the great band leader Louis Prima back in the '50s. Angelina's grandmother, Mery Zamani, directed the video and it's just a sweet and uplifting story that will put a smile on your face every time you think about it. Louis Prima is such a huge leap for Angelina to emulate, but no greater than Jay Hawkins - but your proferred link to the Prima-esque version of WHEN YOU'RE SMILING is exactly right. And that video and her vocals - along with PUT A SPELL - are reminders that Angelina simply doesn't observe traditional boundaries of What Should Be and Shouldn't Be Covered by a vocalist. She kicks down those barriers and delivers such incredible choices for her music.
