She is 9 years and 2 months and as far as being seasond,, well she has been in the studio since 6years old auditioned on TV at age 7, won the NGT show at 8, went to the USA and went on American TV at 8, then did this at 9, at 10 years old she did "I Feel Good" in a concert, then went home from school and sang a Disco song "I Will Survive" and also poped off a leaked song that the original singer Baby fuzZ had just reliesed and days later she had done her own AJ version of "I'm Still Holdimg Out For You" ... then Frank Sinatras "My Way" then went did many many from 11-15 and out all are unbelievable and out did it her way only a few were just covers. Almost all she does are her own version of a cover and all are arranged by her and out all are done in one take. And please look up the reasons of her bare feet,,,, it's just unbelievable of her commitment to children's charity's and helping raise money for causes, even at 8 years old and at 17 still singing barefoot for her cause

This performance might be unique in her catalog, in terms of the "shout-singing" style she was using (not to mention all the growling, etc.) and just how hard she was going on the vocal, overall, but it is not at all unique in terms of being "jaw-dropping". For someone who is so young, she has an _astonishing_ number of absolutely *incredible* performances. Of all kinds. My own favorites happen to be the really subtle ones. Those usually take a while for reacters to get around to, since most early recommendations are for the "barnburners", like this one. For the record, though, one of top my favorites is her live rendition of Adele's "When We Were Young" at Prøysenhuset, in Norway, in 2019 (a few months before she went on AGT), on Boris Palenovski's channel. It's easy enough to find with a search, I think. (There are actually two versions on his channel, the original with 1.1M views and a lesser-known "a/v enhanced" version with 36K views that has louder, clearer audio.)

Notice the notes she gave the music director at the beginning. He laughs because she calls them her wishes. It is for this and her polite and respectful demeanor that they call her "the boss." Try her at 10 (she is nine her). Feeling Good and I'm still holding out for you. Blow your mind again.

She was in Iran with her mother and came across a poor girl with no shoes. Angelina gave the girl her shoes and the girl said she would pray for her and her career. So she always goes barefoot to never forget the little girl. She also wrote a children's book about her experience and got top children's book in Norway. She is also known as the Barefoot Princess.

I admire your reaction. It very well reflects the experience that most of us here experienced when first hearing this song. I’m my case in the local Pub I’d to excuse me crying to the staff, because I was listening to Angelina. Now she got older and have many new stuff, but not to forget all to amazing stuff she did at 13 and younger, I give you a list here of must listen, too. - Fly me to moon - Frank Sinatra - Feeling good - Michael Bulb - What a difference a day made - Dinah Washington - A mans world - James Brown (look for enhanced sound version) - Every time we say goodbye - Ella Fitzgerald - When we were young - Adel - Someone like you - Adel - Millions year ago - Adel - I have nothing - Whitney Houston (now there is newer version from her at 16) - Diamonds are for ever - Bond 007 - Back to Black - Amy Winehouse - I rather go blind - Etta James (raw and looooong dynamic tone) - Stay - Rihanna - Born to die - Lana Del Rey - Young and beautiful - Lana Del Rey - All of me - John Legend - A natural woman - Aretha Franklin - Something’s got a hold on me - Gospel - A song for A - Nico Cartoio (Classic based on poem by Rob Burns 1783) - How great thou art - Elvis Presley (AJ lowest registers) - I’m still holding out for you - originally written for her, but refused by parents due to suicidal ending, hence “Leaked”.

I absolutely love your reactions, the story about the barefoot princess, why she sings barefoot. She met a six year old girl in the Middle East, who is very poor, and weighing people on a scale for money. She befriended the little girl and they talked for hours. Angelina took the boots off her feet that was her favorite pair of boots and gave them to the little girl. She asked a little girl what she wanted to be when she grew up, she said a doctor, but because of her circumstances that would never happen. The barefoot princess told her never to give up on her dream, and that she could be anything. The little girl asked what Angelina wanted to be. She said a superstar. The little girl said that she would pray for Angelina every day for her dream to come true. Since then, Angelina has always vowed to perform barefoot, whenever she’s in public out of respect for the little girl, and all the other children who cannot afford shoes. Again, it shows that Angelina is absolutely an angel sent from heaven. Not only a musical genius, but a huge heart. She also wrote a book about this incident, and is now the youngest published author in Norway. Can’t wait for your next reaction.

When fans talk about her it sounds like exaggeration until you have listened to her whole catalogue. She IS seasoned here. After all she entered Norways Got Talent at 7 was 8 by the final and she is 9 here and had already performed all over the world. Watch her whole NGT run. Then her FLY ME TO THE MOON, and WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKE, which is a large outdoor concert with backing singers. Then you realise she is a a professional here.

Yeah..Angelina made history here. There really is no other "something like this" out there. Possibly the most remarkable 3-min on YT! It is truly a conundrum when we try to rationalize how it is possible that this tiny sweet-faced 9yo Norwegian girl can step up to a microphone, flip some switch within her, become this "beast-mode" version of herself (most probably named "AJ don't play"), deliver an extraordinary and musically and socially sophisticated performance, then just-like-that return to the pensive young lady once again... There aren't words for this! "I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock-rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne-type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video). It sounds like you have but if not you must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. This shows another aspect of her musical IQ and arranging genius (not to mention her masterful control of her vocal instrument equaled by few others regardless of age). "Screamin" Jay Hawkins original "I Put A Spell on You" kzread.info/dash/bejne/oaaC0qpvmdzVm6w.html

Great reaction Carlie! Her fans call her The Barefoot Princess. She always performs with no shoes when she sings. Why? The reason is very special. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling with her family in Iran where she met a shoeless homeless girl in the streets that was about her age. She made money by weighing people. After speaking with her for a few minutes, Angelina noticed the scars on the girl's feet and asked the girl what her dream is. The girl said she wanted to be a doctor but she couldn't because she had to make money for her family. Angelina did what came natural to her, she gave the little girl her shoes and told her to not give up on her dreams. Since then, Angelina has performed barefoot in honor of that little girl and to those who are less fortunate around the world. She keeps this promise to this day. One of the reasons why we love her so much!

Shea, she sang since she was age 1,5 (there is a short video). Discovering Jazz at age 2, she started practicing singing for 36 hours a week at age 3. She entered the academy of music and performing arts in Oslo at age 4 and is now at the academy in LA. My co-commentors tell you other facts. 👣👸🏻🎷HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANGELINA Angelina Jordan turns 17 today the 10th of Jan. The Barefoot Princes of Jazz ♥👣👸🏻🎷 I love this performance so much. As they say AJ don't play. We get the most stunning, amazing performance of a 9 yr old of this Jazz standard ever created. I believe it is going to go down in Jazz & Music history as the best ever for this age and in my opinion the best rendition of this song ever created Screamin Jay included. It will be revisited for Decades and will remain relevant for Generations to come. Anyone who discovers this performance for the first time today or a 100 years from today are going to be as amazed and astounded as everybody has been to this point. Think of the children who will be inspired by this one performance in the decades to come. This is an Iconic performance and will always be Iconic. Angelina has on her own from early on at 6 or 7 yrs old reintroduced what I believe will be a whole new Jazz Era and redefined by this young phenom and prodigy. That is astounding! And she is just 16 years old... That is unfathomable. She has already established her proficiency and incredible work ethic in this endeavor guided by an incredible family and professional support now surrounding her. We know Angelina will continue to amaze! We will be here to experience and cherish it for as long as we live.... and I am praying for many more years for myself to enjoy it till the end of my days... I hope to go out of this world listening to the most beautiful voice ever created for man just as Angelina came into it to fulfill her purpose, what she was put on earth to do, sing for the whole World... and Me! To me Angelina is always singing to me transporting me to that beautiful place she inhabits when she sings and to experience it with her. She has the ability to touch hearts and souls and change lives. She has the ability to change lives on a personal level and the power to change lives on a global scale. To me no one compares. You just watched a Masterpiece! Destined to go down in Music History as the best performance by a 9 yr old, Period! Past, present & dare I say Future! I'd like to see anyone, young or old who can do a cover of this & with the justice it deserves as Angelina has done on every cover she does. ♥👣👸🏻

So many comments already, so I’ll just going to explain the barefoot part :-) When Angelina was 6 she was traveling through the Middle-East. She met a poor girl in the streets who was weighing people for a living. That girl was barefoot and her feet were scarred. Angelina gave her boots to that girl. Since she has performed barefoot both in remembrance of that girl and to raise awareness for the plight of many poor kids around the world. She has participated in many charity events to raise help underprivileged people. Apart from an inspiring artist, Angelina is also an inspiring person who is kind, caring and genuine.

*Why Angelina always performs barefoot* At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. Please go to Angelina's official website to purchase her book.

In her book, based on her diary entries from that day, she says she removed her shoes and stepped on the scale several times. Just as Andy indicated. As a matter of fact I think some of Andy’s narrative is taken, or paraphrased, straight from the book. Have you read her book? Because I have. Angelina was 9 years old in this performance - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. For more insight into how Angelina works, here is a rehearsal video with the same band at the same age (9 yrs old) - You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and gives them some instructions. There are English subtitles as the spoken language is Norwegian: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hXWfvKZ6iK2nZKg.html

Angelina is known as the girl with a thousand voices because she can choose and create the perfect voice for whatever she’s singing. Her talent is immense-as a singer, arranger, and musician. She’s actually 9 in this video, and she arranged this version herself, manipulated her voice to give us that low tone, the sass, the rasp, the growls-because it is essential for the genre of I Put a Spell on You. And the even better news for you is that Angelina sings beautifully, as you heard yesterday, in so many different styles. You’ve got so much ahead of you. Angelina is once in a lifetime.

As you continue to delve into Angelina’s catalogue of cover and original songs you will discover that she never disappoints her listeners. Each performance will have you asking yourself, “How have I not heard of this phenomenally talented and supremely gifted young artist before?” Angelina is a very uniquely talented young lady. She travels in her own lane and there is no one else like her. Angelina’s covers are often better than the original artist’s performances. Her arrangements and her vocal performances often elicit an emotional reaction from us because she has a highly developed intellect, intuition, instincts and feel for what the lyrics, melody and arrangement should be interpreted as being. When Angelina sings the emotion and passion pierces our hearts and souls. I often say that listening to Angelina sing has a healing affect on us.

As you travel through Angelina’s works consider that there is video of her singing at eighteen months of age. At three she tells her Mother she wants to sing on that Simon show. Enters school at four and is studying music theory at five. Speaks Norwegian, Persian and English fluently by six and is reading English lyrics at five. No vocal lessons, just pure ability. See her in sound booth at six where she records four songs Rolling In The Deep, Hurt, Sky Fall and most notable I Who Have Nothing which is well worth reacting to. No child singer has ever done what she has done what three year old falls in love with Jazz.

She has had training. It is just from the artists themselves. There is another young sing who basically learned to sing Opera from youtube. Her name is Laura Bretan. Back to Angelina, you've seen her adopt vocal characteristics of other singers. Then after a certain time with each she will use a form of those characteristics to keep as tools for whatever song she thinks would be a addition to the music. She has done this 3 times and has developed a sound that you can recognize immediately.

Happy Birthday Angelina! Another spell was cast by 9yo Angelina. Let’s analyze the video: 1st you see how small and cute she is. 2nd you see she is barefoot (story below) 3rd You see her making her “Wish List” of suggested changes to the song. 4th the band leader taking note of the changes. 5th Angelina is holding a candle with “Screemin’ Jay Hawkin’s (original artist 1956) picture on it. 6th the old soul in her voice. She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talked with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind herself (and the world) that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.

If you notice how good the musicians sound, it’s because during rehearsal she makes sure that everyone plays accordingly, hence her nickname “Boss” given to her by musicians at a very young age. Yeah, also throws out little change ideas a few times in the rehearsal videos on her grandma's channel. Quite on top of things. Or they'll ask her as well. That's absolutely messed up. It already made no sense a kid knew what she wanted to be and enjoyed real music from 3 years old. But there she is existing in real life somehow. Mastering it like she has thirty years of experience by the time she was 9. Understanding it like that by the time she was 7. I wonder if she knows she's an example of what humans can be, and what that means. Inspiration personified. To get that close to potential isn't human really, at least not yet.
