Angelina's most recent performance is the best version of this song I've ever heard, including the original. Whitney had the power, but Angelina had the emotion. When she brought it in for a soft landing, that 8 second final note for "you" was just glorious.

She recorded this at 12 years old! Two takes. Whitney did this at 29, in a studio, 23 takes… quite normal. She was originally a spinto soprano. Later on, drugs changed all of that. Such a loss. Angelina has a strong family and moral compass.

I listen to this young lady EVERY day. I discovered her over 6 years ago and there has been no one in my 68 years that touches me emotionally like Angelina. She has made me a fan of songs by other artists that I never cared for before she sang them. Many of her songs still bring tears even after hearing them over a hundred times. You need to check out a couple of her less known works. Ditto, Gary. I too am 68. I discovered Angelina 3.5 years ago and I too never go a day without listening to this angel sing Angelina voice has a healing affect on everyone who listens to Angelina sing.

Hi there, Hobbs. GREAT idea to react to these two performances back to back like this. I can't remember having seen anyone else to that before👍👍 Now that you're into "doubles", why not react to her America's Got Talent performance of "Bohemian Rhapsody" when she was 13? That performance gave her the golden buzzer and sent her straight to the finale. Then react to her live performance of it on June 23rd this year, on a vastly popular summer singalong TV programme here in Norway called "Allsang På Grensen". That was her first time live on stage since her performance on AGT and also her first visit to her home country in that same period, due to the pandemic. Well aware that she had the ears and eyes of an entire nation on her, she came out on stage with no visible (or audible) signs of nerves whatsoever, and just KILLED it. THAT'S the mark of a true artist. I'll give you the link to both performances in the end here, I just want to tell you that on that same TV programme, she ended the broadcast with a live performance of "I Have Nothing". Now that you have heard two indoors/studio performances of it, you just HAVE to listen to how she sounds live. What amazes me is Angelina is still only 16 years old and it's really a shy kid Whitney was 28 years old when she sang this can you imagine me at 12 years from now even when she did it at 13 it was incredible the version she just did is breathtaking

As good as the performance was at age 13, Angelina's master class at 16 is sheer perfection vocally. The production values, camera work, lighting are superb. It doesn't get any better than this. But then, maybe it will - after all, it IS Angelina Jordan.

REMEMBER .. Whitney sang this when she was TWENTY-EIGHT!! So glad you're going to watch both this and last month's version. I want to hear them both next to each other. I've seen both many many times.

She took the key down 3 semitones, from the previous versions, I believe it was from G down to E. It was genius. She gets much more from her lower register which is her strength.

Glad to see you are back! I think the first song was when Angelina just turned 13 as a sort of birthday challenge to herself. She sang in the same key as Whitney. In the recent rendition she sang it a little lower, 3 semi-tones, which is such a good choice as it fitst her voice so wonderfully. In a her latest concert she dedicated this song to her recovering and absent grandmother with whom she has a special bond. This gives the song a very emotional and different message. She delivers that message magnificently and makes me hear en feel the story. You can hear such a difference between the two version. Both are great and in the second one, you hear how her voice has matured and gained in richness, warmth and depth. It is hard to imagine her getting better and each time I think she cannot, she just does and it is glorious to be wrong in such cases :-) Thanks!

The 13 year old version is simply spectacular and she did a wonderful job with that tribute to Whitney. This recent version at 16 is beyond greatness..no words for that one. Hobbs, nice to see you again! It was impressive at 13. And at 16, even more satisfying. At her concerts this summer on stage she mentioned that the love her fans have shown her just encourages her to keep on getting better, to keep improving her artistry. So, Hobbs, you're correct--in her mind she'll be always seeking to keep improving, growing, developing as an artist. We fans will stop using words like "improve," and fall back on "wow" or creative metaphors as we feast at the table of her offerings. Thank you for presenting this comparison.
