This is an arrangement that Quincy did for the Count Basie Band. Quincy asked Angelina to open the event with this song in 2018.

You need to go back to Ella for the best early version of this. There is a beautiful mashup of she and AJ doing this. There were extra feelings here because the trip to the US was for the entire summer and was in preparation for the family's permanent move. The presenters in the beginning were wishing her the best.

Angelina wrote a song Oslo which Is such an amazing song about her home town. She released and Album with the Norwegian millitery staff band under the bands name. The name of the Album is called "It's Magic" She and the band held a Concert for the Norwegian people To sellibate the release of the the Album. The Album was to sellibate 200years of the Norwegian millitery staff band.

Angelina's genius is in knowing that you don't veer off into a different form of presentation than Ella Fitzgerald's classic. So what does she do? She simply slows it down while staying true to Ella's immortal recording. When the 'Top 50 Jazz Singers Of All Time' were rated, Ella was voted #1, followed by Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Billie Holiday. I prefer the emotion laden output Angelina brings to the song than Ella's professional rendition and this is even though AJ is performing it casually on an outdoor rooftop, using only a guitarist for simply keeping 'time'.

This is a farewell song to her home country of Norway, she and her family were on their way to Los Angeles. Remember, this is a 5th grader singing an iconic song made famous many many years ago.

There are a few things is this video that are quite remarkable, yet are often underappreciated or even unnoticed by many viewers. The first is her extraordinary phrasing and economy of breath control as she navigates through what appears to be a very simple melody that is in fact quite complex and difficult to sing. The other is her otherworldly calm, relaxed and almost detached demeanour, completely devoid of any nerves: watch at about 1:14 and then 1:18 when she first looks at her right hand and then her left. Preparing to sing live on national tv and Angelina's checking out her nails!

The thing is, her covers have given me 10x the chills than any other artist’s originals.

Regarding Spotify streams: "Love Don't Let Me Go" was pre-released (as a "teaser" for her EP "Old Enough"). So it has a couple of months more streams than the rest of the EP. This explains why it has a couple of million and the others have less than a million. BTW: I really love the mashup of Angelina (in this recording) & Ella Fitzgerald (who made the best-known cover of "Every Time We Say Goodbye"), because you can really compare AJ at 10 (singing in a single take, outside, with only a guitar accompanist) with Ella at 39 (in a studio recording with a full orchestra). Overall I think all the songs should have more streams but the truth is that outside of us angels Angelina is still relatively unknown. It’s not so much that people don’t care for the music I think it’s more that the general public just doesn’t know who she is yet. Plus I don’t think there has really been any promotion to present her yet. She just needs to be heard.

This was recorded on the rooftop of the TV-Building in Oslo. The hosts said something about having goosebumps during rehearsal, as soon as she started to sing, and that Miss Angelina would travel to the US on Vacation. Be safe.

Love don't Let me Go has been out a lot longer than the others on the EP.

The most calming performance I've ever seen.

Love Dont Let Me Go was released 2-1/2 months before the rest of the EP, which could explain the disparity of views.

“Let’s treat this like it’s her own.” Always a good bet. ❤ The first song from her EP has had an international following because worldwide AJ is well known. The other EP songs came out later and most Americans have not heard her music. At the moment, the EP is getting the big push in the US, I think. Unfortunately many people do the same thing with the childhood years seeing it as a waste of attention.

Hi Ashlena. I totally agree with you about Angelina's EP. I liked "Love Don't Let Me Go" but the other songs blew me away!!! LDLMG was released earlier than the other songs and that's why it has more views. "Every time we say goodbye" is still one of my favourite performances from Angelina. At 10 years old covering Cole Porter is such a sultry, soft and classy way is mind blowing!

This song, sung by Ray Charles and Betty Carter was featured in the remake of The Parent Trap in 1997. Near the end when the twins and divorced parents are saying their goodbyes. It was a great remake and a wonderful performance by Lindsay Lohan before she went crazy. 🤣 It’s a very typical selection for Angie at this age. Showing her appreciation for classic jazz artists

How she can do more than justice to a true classic ( I remember Ella Fitzgerald doing it, or rather hearing it ) is totally incredible, I wonder if we will ever realise how amazing these magic moments really are? There are several originals that Angelina Jordan has put out that you haven’t heard yet, as far as your playlist shows. "Oslo" and "What is Life" when she was 11 (thank you, @pjg58x for the correction), and "Shield" was done when she was 12. She did "Million Miles" when she was 14, but you’ve already listened to this one. When she was 15, she created "7th Heaven." There was also "Song for A" and "Above the Water," which were original songs written for her by different authors. She was also telling us in a live chat that sometimes it’s harder to do a proper cover as compared to an original because she has to do a lot of research and figure out all the chord changes and everything else that needs to go with the song. I believe Angelina was actually 11 when she recorded Oslo and What Is Life. Although she was 12 by the time their parent album It’s Magic was released, the album was recorded when she was 11.

You're not alone, Ashlena! I thought I was the only one who thought Love Don't Let Me Go was the least exciting song on the EP. This cover is one of my favorite AJ performances. The song was written by Cole Porter and became a pop and jazz standard. Great reaction!

For me it’s actually one of my favorites. Love her vocal performances but to show how great this EP is I have seen that each song is the favorite of many different people. I think that is rare. Most albums have a few standouts but for me each song on the EP is a standout

Hi Ashlena Thanks for doing this video despite being short of time. Really appreciate it 🙏 I think this song puts anyone in a relaxed mood and makes you forget all worries for a moment. She hasn't got many originals as of yet, but her upcoming music will be fire, I can feel it 😎 "Love don't let me go" got more views, because it's the first song of the EP and it was released as a single almost 3 months prior to the other songs. Nevertheless the other songs are equally as good imo.

A little correction if i may, she has not got many originals RELEASED yet (11), but according to herself during the EP release live chat, she chose the six songs on the EP among the approximately 100 songs she has written so far ...

Love Don't Let Me Go was released several months ago as a single so naturally it would have many more views.

I’m not usually interested in AJ, but this is absolutely magical! If she would sing like this more I would listen to her a lot! The term is ‘breathy’ it’s a way to make singing more emotional! Liked your reaction 🌹

Song for A. This song was written for her, from a poem by 18th century Scottish poet Robert Burns, Composed by modern classical composer Nico Cartozia specifically for her at 10 years old. He did an Album called Melting, Very Intense reflection of human suffering, all instrumental except Song for A. Nico wanted this last piece to be a song of redemption. You'll hear her softer side.

It's a bit strange. When I discovered AJ, I was amazed, cause she was so young and talented and cute. Then I saw her grow up and become more and more famous. Then she had her own songs and I was amazed again... now I am a bit concerned, that the fame will compromise her... I don't want to see her fail or change into a spoiled superstar... we will see

I really can't stand children singing grownup. It just rubs me the wrong way. Don't get me wrong. She has a beautiful voice but man, when I heard her singing Amy Winehouse "Rehab" I just started to laugh. Jeez, they even changed the lyrics to say school instead of rehab and it just felt wrong. Like a middle finger to Amy. "Look, we made a voice exercise of what this person actually died from". Isn't that cool? Shiiit! Yes, yes, yes. I maybe putting to much into it but I still don't like it. Now, Ms Jordan is now in her late teens I guess? Now that I enjoy more. The fact that she starting to look and sound quite similar to Amy Winehouse is, well... "Now I'm the fool" anyone?
