I’m old enough to remember the classic, sultry 50’s version of this by Julie London. This performance by Angelina is like many others where she has decided to cover something I thought should be left alone because the original was so iconic and untouchable. But, like Bohemian Rhapsody or Yellow Brick Road or Bang, Bang or California Dreamin, Angelina gives us her own version that retains the essence of the original-but gives us 100% Angelina. She shows us a new way to love the song without competing against the original. You can always hear the respect for the song and the original artist. I love how Angelina’s body language almost looks bored at end of the song. It fits the mood of the cynical lyrics, but also shows how naturally this soulful jazz flows out of her. You know that the next time she sings this, it will be different depending on her mood, the band behind her, and the setting. Here at 11, Angelina gives us true improvisational jazz singing. Yes, you could twist my arm and force me to sip some whiskey while I sat in a bar and listened to Angelina take me back 70 years or so. It’s captivating, nostalgic, and soothing all at the same time.

At this point in time and after seventy nine years listening to music through all. Angelina is the greatest musical artist of all time. Period. No one emotes such deep emotions as done by this child. You hear and feel every word. The resonance, vibrations and harmonics reach deep inside the listener and propel them into her world. Her first language is music. 💕

CECI, I'm so glad you did this version. I think it is better than the one you reacted to before with the military band. This one is jazzier and she is only 11 years old! It was nice too, to see that you and the trombonist received a nice round of applause at the interlude and loved it when you let Angelina take it back, LOL. Can't wait for the duet with her in a jazz club!!! Thank you for your wonderful analyses and comments and the enjoyable way you do it! A lot of AJ's fans refer to your analyses when discussing AJ with other reactors out of respect for your expertise.

I reference you from time to time with other reactors. Having heard you voice (esp Funny Valentine), I would love to hear more. Technology being what it is today, there is no reason why you could not do a duet with Angelina.

Cry Me a River from this 2017 show is one of my all time favorites from Angelina. The way she paces it and draws out the notes... it's just beautiful. It transports me to another time and place. I'm so glad you finally heard this one Ceci. It's one of the real treasures :)

Ceci, you are the reference when it comes to fully analyzing a performance. Your support and belief in this young lady have confirmed the talent that we all believe is unique. Honestly, I look forward to your reactions as much as I do the AJ performances. If anyone believes that we are born a blank slate, Angelina Jordan proves that this is not true. Nice one Ceci! I knew that you would really love this performance! Singing live with a jazz band like this - such a beautiful setting. This particular concert on July 21st 2017, for me, is the best ever. Angelina here is in what I consider to be her raw and emotional period, she becomes the song, she is the music, even the expression on her face, her wild hair - she paints a picture that we gaze at in awe. Until I invent a time machine and get to go back to this concert, thanks to Boris, we have these recordings on You Tube to watch over and over. Other concerts are magnificent, but this one has something special - this young lady is the whole deal. No matter where her journey takes her she will have my support, I only wish I was younger so that I could be around to she her in her later years.

Leave the 11 years old out! This is fantastic! A Goddess of love, whispering intimate at your ear ... And as said by many people: effortless! Timing, dynamics, colors of the voice... all adding to the beauty!!!

You’re so right on both counts. This particular concert is one of the best! She was really on that day and the beautiful music was incredible. How about that trombone? It is like they are the only people up there for a while. I bet she made his day. I hadn’t seen her hair quite like that before or since, it was great that way, but her hair has been a star since the NGT days.

Ceci, I'm so glad you did this version as I & many others requested. The other version with the Military Band was great & they were playing the sheet music beautifully. But, Angelina only needs a simple guitar or piano or a small jazz band that just follows whatever she does. Throw away the sheet music when Angelina is singing, just let her lead & play softly. Love your reactions & your singing along with the trombone was great.

Thank You for another awesome reaction to our Angel Angelina. ❤️🎶 I listen to her music almost daily. After hearing her song many times over I an still in “awe” of her performances.

I don't hear people use this word too often in describing Angelina's performances, but she is largely, *understated*. Which makes any vocal emphasis stand out. Her voice is rich and intriguing without the super highs and lows that some are drawn to. Her voice is warm and conveys the meaning and emotion of the song without unnecessary embellishments. And, lest we forget, she's only 15. Her voice is still developing!

Angelina keeps putting out new songs with stunning vocal performances. And I keep thinking they’ve gotten better every time. And then I come back to this performance and have the same thought. That nothing could ever be made that would exceed the sheer, effortless, clean beauty of this performance.

Her voice sounds smooth as silk and, with the rasp at times as sandy smooth silk, a bit of silk floating in the wind going up and down gently. It’s such a great performance this. I wished that someone had plugged a recording device into the soundboard and recorded the originals streams.

Ceci, She's good, amazing, sensational. But, that's not saying enough! She's one of a kind and let's stop fooling around. In my opinion, she is the best singer in the world. I don't care who it is. Would any singer want to be on stage with Angelina and match performances? I can guarantee you this. If she challenged the top 50 singers in the world and people came away with various opinions of their performances, one thing is for sure. NO ONE can touch the listener's heart the way she does. What she has CANNOT BE MATCHED by anyone. And, Ceci, I would love to be in a smokey bar with you somewhere. A dark atmosphere with the only light on Angelina, with us sipping some whiskey, you with a cigarette and I'll light up a Cuban cigar. The only problem I see at that moment is for me trying to hold you back from jumping up on the stage to sing with Angelina. Aah, I'd let you go. I have a feeling Angelina loves you and it would be fun to see you guys say hello to each other and sing something!

I'm 76 so I know the "bar " atmosphere. But, we don't really need whiskey and cigarettes. The music sounds just as good not being inebriated. Fruit drinks on the house!

I've been following your Angelina reactions (the only reactions I follow) for quite some time now, and with your explanations of how she does certain things, I'm always impressed by your voice. Today was a little extra treat as you sang along (too quietly) as the trombone played it's solo. It's my opinion, that you should post some videos of "you" singing, for our enjoyment. 🙏 Oh, and I went to your store, but there is no prices available for the U.S. or shipping charges.
