You will be happy to know that Angelina's manager, her uncle, forged a contract with AGT - The Champions which did not obligate her at all, even if she won, which she didn't. She had been pursued by many recording companies ever since she won Norway's Got Talent when she was 8, even Disney, and each time they were told to go away. Even though she did not win AGT, she won the hearts of America and it was a strategic success. It raised the ratings for Cowell and America got to know who she was. It was recorded in the fall of 2019 when she was 13 but not aired until early the following year. Later that year she signed with Republic Records as their "Highest priority new artist," and the contract gives her artistic control as well as waiting until her education is completed before actively promoting her. She will finish high school next May/June at 17-1/2 years old.

The lady jumping from her seat just after the golden buzzer is grandma Mery Zamani, a known painter and Angelina’s source of inspiration. Next to her the mother Sarah, little sys Juliette and uncle and agent Michael. Great protective family (Simon never had a chance). I call Angelina a hard worker, the impossible singer and the luckiest kid in the world - although already lost loved ones and friends, like Avici - but she deserves every piece of that luck. I don't think her meaning about wanting to perform for Simon was really about Simon but rather the show itself and Simon has been associated for a very long time...and maybe an inseparable part of the show and that's just how she expressed it. I believe that her meaning was for 10 years she wanted to perform on AGT!

@@103mrg Simon Cowell was the person who devised the Got Talent format, and it was first aired on 21 June 2006, just over six months after Angelina's birth. KZread was launched on 14 Feb 2005. So it is very possible that Angelina searched KZread at the age of 3 and discovered the Got Talent shows and noted that Simon Cowell was the person to impress.

And for that reason I have my doubts that America's Got Talent would have been aired as faraway as Norway at THAT time; as opposed to the other 2 shows I mentioned. So, once again, not definitive but possible.

Here's something that will touch your heart. That little girl you saw crying was her little sister.

Fear not, no one tells Angelina what to do. She came 6th in the competition, but that was by prior agreement because the first five were automatically signed to Syco Productions, and she wasn't having that! The blonde lady you saw was indeed her Mom, and the older woman next to her was Granma Meri, who introduced her to jazz at an early age. The child is Juliette, Angelina's little sister, and next to her is Mike, her uncle and manager. Angelina later signed up with Republic Records on a special contract that allows her to finish school and develop at her own pace. She is 16 and will be 17 next January 10th. I'm so glad you discovered Angelina. You have so much to look forward to you can't imagine!

Mam... We've probably watched this golden buzzer moment a thousand times yet it still makes us teary eyes at the very least everytime we watch it. It's always like our first time seeing it. ☺️ Angelina has a very protective family and they will not let Angelina be locked on a contract that is going to be a hindrance to her creative development. AGT tried to bring her in a year before but the family rejected the invitations citing the things that you have said about being tied to a contract. But AGT wanted her so badly on their show that in the 2nd year of AGT Champions they made a special contract for her that she will be free from any bounding agreements after the show. (Speculation is in return she can't win the show.)

The remaining members of Queen were so impressed they allowed Angelina to copyright her version of Bohemian Rhapsody - so she went into the studio, recorded it under her name and it is available on several music streaming services where she gets the royalties.

I first watched this on America's Got Talent - The Champions 2 on a cold Jan evening in 2020. I'll never forget. I spent my covid winter home watching Angelina perform. This was recorded in the fall of 2019 (age 13) but did not air until the start of Jan 2020. A) someone will post the reason she is always barefoot (since she was 7) B) the little girl crying was her sister Juliette. C) Angelina only appeared after uncle Mike, also her manager, negotiated she would not be bound to a contract. Her appearance was good for both Angelina & AGT.. Later in 2020 Republic Records signed Angelina with the agreement she would continue to develop while finishing school, being a child and continue to learn. They didn't want the pressure on Angelina. S) She continues to do summer concerts, private and charity events. The first single she released under Republic (the biggest label in the US) was Million Miles at 14. E) Angelina is working on an album likely to come out next year. F) "no one" has heard of Angelina except everyone in the music industry from David Foster to Quincy Jones. 2 Billion views on FB and over a Billion on KZread... imagine when she begins her professional career? Doesn't matter how many times or how many years you performed; if you were paid, you were a professional. Nothing to do with "livelihood"....I don't know if you pay attention to the sports world. But if you do, you'll probably recall when participants in the Olympics were amateurs. HAD TO BE amateurs. If it was ever discovered that an athlete had competed in some event and won the prize money, or appeared at ,say, a fundraiser, and been paid in some way, they would be disqualified for being a professional. For earning money in their sport. The money caused them to forfeit their amateur status. In the 30's, some Swiss skiers couldn't compete, because they gave ski lessons. Once again, earning money in their sport. I think the Olympics allowed professionals to complete in 1986.

Because they agreed with the family to not push her too quickly, let her grow up, finish school and take time for her to release her first album. In effect, Republic gave her a large signing bonus so the family had an income while agreeing to defer her "professional debut". Republic is considered the gold standard of companies. Tyler Swift signed with Republic after leaving her previous label and all the issues she had with them. Heard of Drake, Arianna Grande, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Amy Winehouse, Florence and the Machine, Lol Wayne, Lorde, Nicki Minaj, Pearl Jam, Paris Jackson, Post Malone, Stevie Wonder, too name a few artists with Republic. They see Angelina being as big as Drake, Taylor, Ariana, etc and are willing to wait for her to premier her first album and tour. That's quite a compliment. Rob Christie, the Emmy winning pianist is also a VP with Republic. He, along with her uncle/manager and family, have been tasked with helping her development in a way that allows her to enjoy the crazy world of being a music superstar for her lifetime. So many young artists fail to handle the pressures. Angelina has been a Professional since she was born... The world waits for her professional debut and first album.

@@alberttenfoot agreed. Angelina has been a full time student while doing some private events and charities. The recent concerts were booked in 2020 but covid cancelled these. Professionally we all wait for the release of her first album and large scale tour. I expect her to appear on Saturday Night Live when her album is released. The family is smart to be patient. Many of Angelina's music icons have fallen to addictions, (Amy, Michael, Billie), and suicide (Avicii). Many started as children performers. Angelina is a treasure to cherish and protect.

She only gets better as time goes by. Master of all genres. She has control of her future. Smart girl on with smart management now signed with Republic Records. Thanks for the reaction.

This golden buzzer moment still moves me deeply, and I enjoy it like a kid. Still the beauty of the performance Angelina gave, took me straight into 7th heaven, and it still does.

tom I think you should have mentioned that she signed the non-standard contract with AGT. It meant she was freed of any artistic control and recording obligations if she performed.

AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 21 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years, and toured with Streisand, accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. The main pianist, a five-time nominated for Grammys, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Did I forget to mention Jimmy Z, the famous Sax Player who worked with Rod Steward, Etta James, the Eurythmics, and Doctor Dre, was part of the band for the show? Jimmy stated that AJ was the best he has ever played for. Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California played the guitar, and was the MC of the show. Rob has been working with AJ from the very 1st day Republic signed her at age 14. (I can't list the complete backgrounds on all the band members because it would take several pages to do them justice.) Angelina stated that she would rather perform than take a breath, and she has never been forced to perform, it has been her decision. Angelina Jordan is top priority for both Stargate Production Co. (Beyonce, Rihanna, Sam Smith), and the largest record company in the world, Republic. AJ's first album for Republic is supposed to drop sometime this year.

Hi Whitney, I might add that according to what her mom told us top executives from several record companies and even Disney flew from the US to Norway to sign her after her winning NGT, but they turned them all down, and allowed only for a restricted number of concerts / TV appearances in the course of a year, mostly charities where Angelina helped raising millions for children in need. They wanted her to have an as "normal" childhood as possible (for a musical prodigy)... After she moved to LA at age 15 she agreed to sign with Republic Records (Universal) as their "top priority new artist". Her manager is her uncle Michael, he appears in some of her live events in front of the stage as a kind of security guy... (yes, the blonde woman on AGT was her mom, those surrounding her Angelina's grandma Mery, who plays a very important role in Angelina's musical and artistical development, and her little sister...) .The contract gives her complete control over her song / genre choices and arrangements and her pace. She had her first LP in Norway (It's Magic) with the orchestra of the armed forces of Norway, it's a great album with one original song ("Oslo"), and some utterly beautiful covers of standards (Crazy, I'm A Fool To Want You, Cry Me A River and more). Some excellent songs, two or three instrumentals, great mix and production and top tier musicians, but basically classical bigband jazz (I love that...) ... The entire album is definitely worth a listen, especially since most live videos from that period are of rather poor audio quality, recorded by fan's cellphones and the band often overplays her (in the recordings, might have been better live...). So me personally prefer reactions to the album audio versions than the live videos, or double reactions with the performance so the fans can see Angelina, and then the proper studio audio recording because they caught far more of her beautiful tonal nuances, dynamics and subtleties... but anyway that's only about half a dozen songs (also "It's A Man's World" - her live performance is breathtaking, but the audio is so poor I get angry anytime a watch a reaction to it...) - But for many other early performances of Angelina we have to deal with what's available. Luckily she did a lot of (home-) studio recordings / live takes, with guitarist Egil Clausen in Norway and Ivan Mendez in LA, or sung over backing tracks, and we have many jewels from these recordings. After she signed with RR she obviously has a little more budget, and of course the best studio equipment, some Official Videos with a little more cinematigraphy. Now double Grammy winner Rob Christie who is studio director with RR often plays the piano for her recordings, you'll get to see him in her video for "Suspicious Minds". Rob was also hosting Angelina's virtual Christmas Concert last year where she had some top tier musicians playing for her (and marvelling at her talent...) - that was a great show and I hope there'll be a christmas concert this year again, I highly recommend you to buy a ticket! Right now she's working on her second album and first in the US with RR which presumably be (mostly?) original songs... we hope for it in early/mid 23, around that time she'll also take her exams, and the album will be fully promoted by one of the biggest companies out there... I think there will be an explosion of Angelina's music on the entire planet after that... So I think she gets every support from her label, the guys seem to be reasonable people, they know they won the jackpot and they handle it responsibly. The agreement is that Angelina will finish her college education and not be overly promoted until then... This summer she gave a series of live concerts in Norway, from these we have some really good recordings, by TV and also some fan made ones with fairly good sound quality... Excellent comment Dominik, the only mistakes are she was 12 when she & her family moved to LA, not 15, & her 1st album, It's Magic, had 2 of her originals, Oslo & What is Life, not just one. Also, most "Angels" believe that her record label has agreed to hold off on promoting her until she graduated HS next year, but if it's until after she graduates college, then we'll have to wait more than 4 more years.

Shame on me for omitting "What Is Life" on it's Magic, strangely enough I only remember the live video with that blonde guy (excellent musician, I went some deeper into his catalogue, but right now his name slips my tongue...) - the one who is the bassist in her 7th Heaven MV... and Ivan Mendez... but she must have been 12 or 13 then, I can't remember an earlier studio version (she was around 10/11 when she recorded It's Magic? Will have to revisit that album immediately!) - About "High School" and "College" I always get confused as a Bavarian because here "Hochschule" is the higher educational degree (university level) while in our Gymnasium which is prior the final two years are called "Kollegstufe"... I never get it right, obviously it should be simple to remember it's just the other way round... but I can't 🤣 ... have been trying for 30 years... - You have a great day and enjoy it, God bless!

Your post commentary was spot on and the powers to be do take advantage of the artists. Their feelings in the matter is that without them and their shows the artists will never get the recognition which can get their careers off to a great start. Angelina's family has taken precautions to never get involved with anyone who wants to control her. Her family has turned down offers from AGT, Disney, David Foster, Quincy Jones and on and on. If someone or any company wants to entertain Angelina with an offer for her to join them they MUST adhere to the demands of Angelina's family. They may attempt to entice her with lots of cash but, no dice! Well, Republic Records made an offer because they knew she was something special, more than a singer, and wanted her very much. They willingly adhered to every one of the demands presented by her family and, so far, everything has been working out very well. She hasn't been officially marketed to the world yet (family decision) because her education is a top priority right now and so she continues to flood the you tube market with video's galore and aren't we the lucky ones! Republic understands what will happen when they get the go sign to promote her all over the world but remain patiently in the wings waiting for that day. In the meanwhile Angelina uses their studio's in LA to do her video's and often times their joint productions are sensational, to say the least. I know reading the comments and/or commenting about them is something that concerns you very much. You can do only so much with so little time. BUT, Whitney, I hope you are taking the time to read everything her fan base (her 'angels') are sending to you. There is a lot going on with Angelina (past and present) and knowing all of it shines a light on her which never dims.

Angelina refused to sign a contract with Simon’s label and rumor has it that is why she was eliminated in the finals. Angelina signed with Republic Records in 2021 only after they agreed to give her significant control over her content. Republic also agreed to give her time to graduate high school before highly promoting her. Expect her to release her first album sometime in 2023.

Whitney, that was great information on Kelly Clarkson. Its interesting that Kelly went on to coach on The Voice for many years, and The Voice winners get signed by Republic Records which is the company to which Angelina signed at age 14. However, sounds like Angelina has far, far more creative freedom with Republic, and we are all awaiting Angelina's first album with them. Hopefully, we will know by Christmas when that will be released.

No worries about contracts with Angelina. Although it meant she couldn't win, she would not sign their contract as written. They wanted her for ratings, so they let her do it. If I understand things correctly

Spot on assessment. Angelina refused to sign, so there was no way she could win. She even turned down Disney. Angelina signed with Republic Records later that year. Republic gave Angelina complete artistic control, as well as the timing of their releases. Republic has provided a home for Angelina, as they share Angelina's artistic vision. Angelina graduates next year at 17 years old.

Since you said all that, you can guess that Angelina didn't win the contest. Her family wouldn't sign with Simon so they passed on her. She is now signed with Republic Records with the stipulation that she has full artistic control and that she was allowed to finish high school, which happens this summer.

Alright! An AJ fest! Thanks! With this song, AJs age is stunning in comparison to the level of performance, which is just stunning in its own right anyway. This has been true of all of her previous performances. Today, she has reached an age where age is becoming less (but still impressive) of a factor and we are left with performances that are just plain stunning. AJ did not agree to the standard AGT contract and has gone her own way. She signed with Republic records on her own terms and is a priority artist with them.

So young, yet is light-years ahead of most (if not all) the so-called "talents" in today's industry! Whitney, Angelina received several offers after her A.G.T. performances and her parents refused their offers. Angelina signed with Republic Records in August, 2020. She was fourteen years old. Angelina wrote her song, “Million Miles” after her grandfather passed away in November of 2018. She wrote her song as an homage to her grandfather and for everyone that has suffered losing their loved ones. “Million Miles” was Angelina’s debut single with Republic Records and it was released in November, 2020. From what I understand, Angelina’s parent’s agreed to allow Angelina to sign with R.R. only if R.R. agreed to their stipulations. For one, Angelina was to have creative control. Secondly, Angelina’s parents wanted her to finish her schooling and have as normal of a childhood as she possibly could before embarking on her professional career.

I had similar thoughts concerning 'contracts and labels' when I first saw Angie on AGT. Luckily, she didn't cooperate with Simon and chose a label that grants her more freedom as an artist.

My voice is fine, I just have Hashimoto’s and if I talk too much I start to get hoarse and have to stop. It was awful when I was working in sales during the holidays. I lost my voice all the time. I’ll get back to more Angelina videos soon. I’m currently working on my Christmas lineup. I want to go through at least her NGT and AGT performances and a hand full of covers I was told to check out. Maybe I’ll have an Angelina week in January and finish her performances there and then get into her other covers ☺️

She didn´t sign a contract with Simon on AGT. This is probably why she didn´t win. Better for her, and better for us! You can even interpret her second performance on AGT which contains the line "I didn´t sign up with you" as hidden message to do so. Anyways, you have soo much to discover, I am happy for you! :)

The song Yellow Brick Road is about an artist that is not willing to be under the thumb of 'The Industry'. I do not believe it is a coincidence that Angelina sang it as her second song in the competition. She's a unique, fearless artist

well .. good news here .. Angelina and her family didn't sign the contract that you have to sign when you're going into the Finals saying that if you win, you have to sign with one of Simon's companies. They did not sign but Simon is not stupid so she still sang a song, even though it was with two other artists .. a young boy violin player and a Russian lady who did sand painting. So anyway .. just to let you know that you don't have to sign the agreement .. and though they never, of course, spoke it publicly and neither did the family (probably part of the deal), she still got to say no to a contract of that kind.

To win AGT you must sign a contract with Simon, and he then has control of your future. AJ's family would not allow that to happen because they wanted her to have as much of a normal life as possible and still pursue her goals. Several producers flew into Norway in their private jets after AJ wone NGT and tried to sign her, but the family did like the terms of the contracts. I believe one of the producers was David Foster.

David Foster is a legend here. It would have depended on what the contract said in order for me personally to sign with him. I just know a lot of artists after these shows fall off the radar because of the contract they sign. It’s ridiculous

She would not sign contract to appear or during so she did not win. She generally only performs concerts in summer when school is out, since she was 8. Family wanted her to have as normal a childhood as possible. Apparently the age you are when you sign up to audition is the 'official' age of your performances. Angelina certainly knows how old she was at that time.

@@nyima04011 I'm an English speaker but I speak some Spanish also, and I know how easy it can be to miss an important word or two in an alternate language. I'm speculating that Angelina may have thought Heidi was asking how old she was when she was on, rather than how old she was when she won.

Thank you Whitney for your awesome reaction. As you have read, our Angel is very well protected by her family and still is to this day. She has signed with Republic Records since this AGT performance and I recommend you watch her next song which is the cover of Yellow Brick Road, the Elton John classic. Of course, she again makes it her own. At age 12, on a televised broadcast in Norway, Angelina performs a song she wrote and composed, with help from others, her song called Shield. Why does Angelina sing barefoot? The answer may bring a tear to your eye. When she was 6 years old, she was in the Middle East with her mom and grandmother and they came across a young orphan girl with no shoes and scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own shoes and has forever performed barefoot as a reminder of all those less fortunate. At age 9 she wrote a book about this experience, Between two Hearts, becoming the youngest ever published author in Norway. She also has helped raise millions for children's charities. She is a special individual, and one you cannot follow without developing an emotional bond.

I’ve often wondered what sort of contract she, or her parents, were under after she won the Norske Talenter show (Cowell franchise).

Angelina's mother Sara, told in an interview that: after the win in NGT (Norske Talenter show), many companies tried to sign a contract with her! All were denied by Angelina and her family. Even Disney. This means that NGT had no agreement/contract with Angelina. Otherwise they wouldn't have tried. That is my own interpretation of course.

I've heard it argued no one has to sign a contract to be on the show, and that champions isn't the same as the regular show in that way either. Most people would just want to sign a contract, it is the point of the show I thought, and then regret it later. Angelina didn't sign a contract, and her team had said before going with Republic records, that they would be holding out for creative control and a lack of obligation in any contracts. So I imagine Republic had to bow down as if Angelina was already a top artist with all the leverage in the world. Or they met somewhere in the middle. She had patience, some leverage, was in no rush, and two years later still isn't in a rush.

Or in this shows case more of a long term Vegas concert deal. But I guess I should have worded that better because you are likely right.

Wow. That was a GREAT reaction, Whitney!! It's my first time seeing your channel, and it was a very easy sub for me. One of the easiest ever tbh. Now, as you will learn through her immensely dedicated fan base, the concerns that you address here are being taken care of in the very best way possible. I will leave for others to fill you in on the details, because I'm a little under the weather, battling Covid for the 4th time. But I have been following Angelina very closely for 9 years, since she won Norway's Got Talent. I am Norwegian just like her and was watching the episodes live. And just let me tell you that I instantly understood that Angelina was something COMPLETELY different. Nowadays there isn't too much left for me to learn about her, but every now and then I still get some new information, and I just love it. Angelina did not sign up with Simon. Story has this is the reason why she was voted out in the finals. If it's true... I don't know. At any rate from very young her family gave her full control on her creative choices and as far as I can see, this is also central in her contract with Republic Records. In her live concerts this summer, she surprised about anyone doing a cover of Labyrinth's 'Mount Everest' which shows me she is still making her own choices. Anyone told you the reason she performs barefoot, because it is a wonderful story. When she was 6 or 7 she was in the Middle-East, she met a poor girl in the street barefoot with scarred feet. She decided to give her boots to this girl and ever since she has performed barefoot both in remembrance of this girl and to raise awareness for the plight of many poor children (Angelina also did a lot of charity performances).

@@nyima04011 On the fringes you may be right. The point was that she is pretty much completely in control as compared to artists such as Kelly Clarkson. Then again we do not know how the changes to Back to Black came into being. The difference between (1) 'You MUST change the lyrics or else you can forget about it!' vs (2) 'I'd like you to change the lyrics a little, they are a bit beyond your years and experience. Sure mom, anything for you!' vs (3) 'Mom, I have trouble connecting to this song, I think I am going to change it around. Your choice, I'll always have your back!' I don't think I have ever heard her curse or use coarse language in general. So the changes to Mount Everest might easily have come from herself.

Yeah. Angelina made history here (not the first or the last time that happens!) and didn't win AGT possibly because she wouldn't sign up with Simon. But she got American exposure and Simon got an incredible performance that has been viewed at least ~50M times for AGT. Great reaction. Now pick anything from AJ, you can't go wrong.

ken This performance has been viewed closer to 110 million times (not including reaction videos). Not winning AGT had nothing to do with not signing up with Simon. Angelina signed a contract that Uncle Mike negotiated which freed her from any obligations when she performed.

Angie got 6th place, all the top 5 had already signed with Simon before the finals. This was also all pre-recorded in 4th quarter of 2019. (Angie grand pa died in Nov of 2019 during the semi-final recordings) That's also when she started to write her song dedication to him called "Million Miles" . She has 4 versions of it. I'm not 100% positive, but I think the show contracts for contestants are related to their providing marketing and visibility to them; therefore, they contract-clause a percentage of anything they released that was on the show... Whether it is a performance release as a cover or whether it is their own original music that they are pushing through the show.... And to that extent it is somewhat fair, you know... Where else will they get such marketing? It ain't free. Jackie evango wasn't allowed to win even though she had more votes originally than Mr. Grimm, Allegedly because her parents said 'you cannot bind her to a contract being that she is a 10 year old....' And remember, the rule for these contest shows are, that the 2nd place person usually does better.... Is orthod place or 4th place... Jennifer Hudson... Haley Rienhart...Adam Lambert...

Other commenters have mentioned that Angelina's team negotiated an appearance on AGT that did not entrap her in a contract. But what makes your comments extremely poignant is her next performance of 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road', in the style of Sara Bareilles. In 'The Wizard of Oz' the Yellow Brick (Gold) Road was an allusion to the financial system, and Bernie Taupin's lyrics were all about turning one's back on stardom in favor of a simpler life. Once you understand the context, you'll see that in addition to her artistry, this was an unmistakable message from a 13 year old singer that she will not be exploited.

Angelina didn't win AGT. For just the reason you brought up. Angelina's Uncle refused to have her signed. At first AGT wasn't going to allow her to perform for the refusal. However, her Uncle convinced them to allow her to sing for Simon which is what she always wanted to do. Although Simon did try to convince the family to allow him through his own connections to sign with him. That failed as well. Many recording studios have since her NGT to have her on board. Even Disney got the boot. Her family wanted her to have as normal a life as possible and to allow her to grow musically at her own speed as well as the direction she wanted without being told what to do. Not to mention up until she signed with Republic Records did any studio agree to the terms set down by her family.

Talent shows are all about the money. They milk the cash cows for all they can get. Artist that would otherwise be ignored become wealthy and the show owners become rich.
