Enjoyable reaction. There is no one to compare to preteen Angelina. She was 12 for this performance. I don't know of another jazz singer, at such an early age, that can also sing many genres so well. Then add, she always creates her own arrangements and vocal choices so not fully mimicing the original. Also take into account, as we learned from Egil Claussen and Ivan Mendez in their interviews with Alan Papier, Angelina doesn't need any practice and completes the finished video on the first take, in most cases. Now at 18, Angelina has told us she has written more than 100 original songs and we have been blessed by 13 to date. Remarkable.

This is the video that prompted some to accuse Angelina of miming. After this she always has the pop filter off to the side so you can still see her mouth.

Indeed, I think if you took a poll you'd find a lot of her Angels even prefer that sort of thing (or just singing with an acoustic guitar or a piano for accompaniment) to more heavily produced numbers. You have no idea, how many reactors, who heard her first time doing this, and they didn't believe it was her singing... mostly due to they couldn't believe this voice came from this young girl, and the mic is hiding her mouth. Think this is the only vid, she's having this set up. Tried it, didn't work 💯%, so she moved on. Believe she's in the end of being 11yo. Looking forward to your next reaction 😊👍👍

As you watch her home studio videos, you'll see that all through that period she was experimenting. New equipment, new video angles, new vocal techniques. Honing her art and her expertise. It's been fun watching her grow up and learn. That's why those Angels that have been following her for so long feel such an immense sense of pride watching her perform in Las Vegas or at the Nobel Prize ceremony. All those years of hard work and practice as a little girl have transformed her into the stunning and talented young woman she is now.

When I first head this it was my first AJ experience. I was absolutely convinced it was a fake.

Angelina is 12 yo in this. Over the years there have been a few reactors that saw this video as their introduction to Angelina & since the pop screen blocks her mouth & the voice was too good to be true, they thought it must be fake. After this, Angelina tried to make sure her mouth was visible in her home videos. There is a mash-up video of this song that goes back & forth between Lana's original version & Angelina's. IMO, Angelina did an up-grade, not a cover!

I saw a reaction video where the reactor got upset and quit the reaction after a few bars of Angelina singing "because it was obviously fake". He later deleted the reaction... And I also remember the reactor who stretched his neck and tried to see behind the pop filter.. 😀

Yes, we're lucky enough to watch the growth of Angelina Jordan on video, taken by her grandma, her mom, and sometimes her sister, and now even by herself on Instagram or TikTok. She feels like a part of your family; we've seen them on a regular basis. It starts when she's 1 1/2, and it continues on until today. Now you really start to see her voice develop when she sings "I Who Have Nothing" when she's 6 or 7 at her school's studio. There are videos of Angelina singing in almost every situation and setting you can imagine (within reason, of course), from the most professionally produced TV appearances (like the first video you saw from her) down to the most humble let-me-just-sing-into-my-cell-phone-for-a-minute type videos (less "produced" than this one you just watched). She has sung with full orchestras, small ensembles, solo musicians, and by herself (using karaoke tracks, accompanying herself on piano or guitar, or without any music at all [i.e., a cappella]). She has used professional-quality mics (like this one, a Neumann TLM-102), regular "consumer-grade" mics, and no mic at all (apart from the one on the device recording her). She has done a suprising number of live performances (as in, "live-in-concert"), both in her own concerts and in those of other artists where she was either an opening act or otherwise invited to perform, as well as short sets at music festivals and other kinds of "personal appearances" (e.g., in malls). She has performed for crowds of many thousands, for world leaders, for music industry bigwigs, for Hollywood celebs and other kinds of "VIPs", for Nobel Peace prize recipients, for individual people she has just met, and for no one at all (there's one video of her singing at home where she might not have even known she was being recorded).
