Angelica! Roy Hamilton! The song ELVIS gave away! With ELVIS and ROY footage

Could you hear ELVIS song this???
In 1969 Elvis and Roy met at the American Sound Studios in Memphis. Both were being produced by Chips Moman, Elvis at night and Roy during the day. Elvis was thrilled to discover that Roy would be working at the same studio during the day. Elvis would sometimes arrive early to listen to Roy.
It was during their meeting that Elvis presented Roy with a beautiful new song 'Angelica' (Barry Mann/Cynthia Weill) that he was going to record himself. The song turned out to be the single released from the session, a soaring, dramatic rendition that unfortunately struggled to find radio airplay. It also turned out to be Roy's last single as sadly, on July 20, 1969, the distinctive voice of Roy Hamilton was silenced when he died following a stroke.

Why is it so hard to find this song in any Roy Hamilton collection or on any subscription music sites? It's amazing. So moody, so powerful. I would love to have heard Elvis cover this. The footage at ASS (ha ha) is incredible. They said Elvis showed up, looking like a million bucks, such that even all the MEN had to look twice. I believe it.

"Inspiration"? Roy had distinct vocal style that Elvis took. You'll never hear another Eminem...Barry white...Bruce Springsteen, Michael McDonald, Brian Johnson (AC/DC). Lets not act like doing that is alright just because they knew each other. during that time Roy couldn't possibly be as popular as Elvis because of racism. So because his took his style so well he could get a feel for how popular his music would be if not for racism. Elvis took his sound and dance from black people. But at least he acknowledged it unlike those who completely used others for fame.

Who writes the ignorant crap on here? Firstly, Anglelica although presented to Elvis at the American Sound Sessions in 69, was not a new song - publishers often pitched previously recorded songs to Elvis (and, indeed, other artists). Gene Pitney recorded the original version of the song in 1966. Secondly, Roy Hamilton was clearly a huge influence on Elvis - less so, Jackie Wilson, indeed, Elvis influenced Wilson (especially when he was with Billy Ward and His Dominoes - interestingly, replacing someone who was a much bigger influence on Elvis, Clyde McPhatter) more than the other way around but with a common influence of Roy Hamilton. Jackie Wilson owes so much to Hamilton, but Hamilton had a much better voice. Saying, that, Elvis was a big fan of Wilson's, and, of course, he did perform (not sing) Return To Sender in the style of Wilson as Wilson was there watching the recording. Elvis had many influences, black and white, so to say he 'mimicked' black singers is gross ignorance and stupidity - his influences (not mimickry) spanned blues, country, southern gospel and spiritual. The number of singers who have been ascribed as influencing Elvis is more to do with racism (against Elvis) than anything e.g. Little Richard, Chuck Berry etc - neither influenced Elvis's vocal delivery, but he certainly influnced them - Chuck Berry was a lounge singer who sang largely country songs in St Louis while Elvis honed his technique at Sun, Berry's first rock 'n' roll song Maybelline - itself based on the country song Ida Red, was recorded in May 1955, and released end of July 55, by which time Elvis had recorded That's All Right, Good Rocking Tonight, Baby Let's Play House, I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone (both versions) etc. Indeed, Mystery Train, and the released version of Trying To Get To You were recorded the same week Maybelline was released - if you accept July 21st as the recording date as per union agreements, but actually likely to have been recorded the end of June / early July. So, Chuck Berry couldn't have influenced any of Elvis's Sun recordings. Likewise, Little Richard - often reported as an influence but certainly not vocally, even if Elvis did record Tutti Frutti, Ready Teddy, Long Tall Sally and Rip It Up (the latter offered to Sam Phillips for Elvis prior to Little Richard recording it). Tutti Frutti wasn't recorded and released until October 55. So Little Richard's and Berry's so-called influence is a myth perpetuated by the ignorant who wish to belittle Elvis's influnce on them and accuse him of apropriation. Back to Wilson. During the so-called Million D0llar Quartet session, Elvis mentioned that he had seen Billy Ward and His Dominoes perform Don't Be Cruel in Las Vegas (during Elvis's stint there in 56), but he clearly had no idea who Jackie Wilson actually was. So, the question as to influence demands a change in style of Elvis's vocal delivery but ELvis never had 'one' style, yet all of Elvis's idiosynchracies and mannerisms are found in his Sun recordings, and these endured throughout his life. The only thing that changed was actually the quality of his voice which peaked 1960-64, and it's centre of gravity (Elvis's range was tenor, baritone and baritone bass). A quite extraordinary once in a lifetime singer, an instinctive genius communicator and interpreter, but technically excellent (his phrasing, breath control etc.) especially for an untrained singer. (I am an alumnus of the Royal Academy of Music and a professional orchestral cellist and singer).

Elvis singing voice does not 🚫 even sound like Roy. Elvis grew up dirt poor 😢 Elvis learned to play the guitar 🎸 bass 🎸 accordion 🪗 ukelele piano 🎹 and drums 🥁 on his own. He co- wrote some songs with Red West ⬅️ and Charlie Hodge 🤩 Elvis was a very talented, natural but underappreciated vocalist 🎤 dancer 🩰 choreographer 🩰 music 🎵🎶 arranger/composer/producer and actor 🌈 Quit the lies 🤥 about Elvis Quit the hate and jealousy about Elvis l.

Its not to say he didn't have talent, but voice inflexión...styled from Roy, and some from Jackie Wilson and Jesse Belvin. And its ok. Elvis is not the 1st or the last person to mímic black talent. But what i love about him, he gave credit where credit was due, (só did so many from england who studied black nusic from motown etc., but they for the most part gave credit. )❤
