If most people remember Paul Cotton at all, it is for "Heart Of The Night" from 1978's Legend album. Paul was a fine songwriter and guitarist. For my money he was, for a 15 year stretch, the world's finest singer. It's a shame that so few people appreciated him during his life. RIP Paul Cotton. You will be missed.

@@JeffMcCalib Rolling Stone is more of a political magazine than a music mag. They have the Bee Gees down at the 99th greatest group when the stats say otherwise! Like Barry Gibb, is the second most successful songwriter in music history, 3rd in the Billboard Hot 100 & 5 hits in the top 10 simultaneously, in the Spring of “78” I guess Rolling Stone forgot that, bunch of dweebs!

Poco has been through several permutations. Started out as Richie Furay's band. When he left after Crazy Eyes, Paul Cotton stepped up as the main songwriter and Tim Schmit as the co-lead vocalist up until Rusty wrote Rose Of Cimarron. I don't think anyone saw the Rusty Young version coming, but he ended up writing and/or singing the hits Crazy Love and Call It Love not to mention a ton of great album tracks. All from a steel guitar/dobro/banjo specialist.
