Angel Island and A-Files with Jeanie Low

On March 8, 2022, AIISF hosted a program with genealogist and historian, Jeanie Low, to discuss how to locate family records at the National Archives and USCIS.
Many of the federal records from Angel Island and earlier were taken to the mainland INS office and kept there until they transferred to the National Archives in San Bruno. www.archives.gov/san-francisco
Those case files are searchable provided you have your ancestor's name when he or she immigrated or became a naturalized U.S. citizen. If he or she was a partner and/or Owner of a Chinese business, there are records that are searchable on the archives' nationwide catalog at catalog.archives.gov.

Thx. A guide by an experience genealogist with detailed step by step instructions to secure old records that the government has on of a family member. Indispensable for the novice researcher.
