I really like the Oxford Handbook of Anaesthesia; it helped me a lot during my first year. It has pretty short chapters on different types of surgeries and what you need to know and expect from the anaesthesiologist's perspective. When I had some surgeries I've never had to manage before and didn't have much time to thouroughly read literature about it I could alwas just read the 5-10minute chapters in the book and felt like a had a rough plan on what was going to happen. It is also quite small so it is perfect to take with you to your hospital on your night shifts.

Thank you for your videos! I'm a 4th year medical student aspiring to specialise in Anaesthesia. I'm having my Anaesthesia electives in two months time and this guide is just what I was looking for and needed. Please continue making more videos on your journey and guides cause there's really very little Anaesthesia content creators

This video is extremely helpful! Second year medical student here and I'll be having my elective rotation this June in Anesthesiology at a tertiary hospital. Pretty similarly, we haven't had anesth lectures since our obstetrics block last year, so I was a bit lost. Using your recommendations as a guide for some initial reading!

I’d like to see a video about the start of your journey and getting into medical school if you could do one. I have ambitions of becoming a cardio vascular anesthesiologist consultant & I’m currently working towards obtaining my bsn and getting 6 Lors before graduating. I’ve seen that having 2 in science classes one in a non science class, one from voluntary work + 2 from shadowing in clinical’s maybe helpful for getting into a program besides the obvious, having a high mcat score I’m planning on taking the mcat soon as well.

So I’m looking to go back to school and becoming an anesthesiologist and there’s one thing I’m stuck on. It’s what should someone major in and what bachelors should I shoot for. I’m looking everywhere and can’t get a solid answer for it everything just says to dabble in a bit of everything. What would you recommend?

A degree that has overlap with the pre-reqs of med school (that you would need to take regardless). Also check out CRNA and AA if you find the path to becoming an anesthesiologist too long. Of course there are differences between the 3, so weigh out the pros and cons
