If you throw everything towards customer they tend to take guard even they don’t know the details. Soft sell is not scaring customer or let he/she take guard because they dont think they are ripped off. Like boiling frog slowly. As a customer when salesman talk but his most words are not information of my product or not related to it i dont listen then go to next saler. The guy talking about the Soft sell is a true salesman that will land new clients, and more importantly, keep the cilents coming back time after time. The loud muscle guy may hard sell a few people but he doesnt know how to keep them coming back through the door. The people that finally get away from the muscle guy never come back and tell their friends about what a pushy and uncomfortable they are around him. Ive been in sales over 20 years and can promise you a soft sell keeps them coming back and on high spirits. A hard sell is a one and done tactic that many rookie salesman make.

Soft sell is damn effective, but it doesn't mean it's always the best way or only way. Versatility is the key of the game. Sometimes clients need that push, sometimes they don't. I've been in sales since 1997. And I'm still honing my sales skills. Take the best practices from many, and tailor it and make it your own.

@@jeisiregar I agree that some customers do Take A Hard Sell... but his whole approach is a Hard Sell. I like to learn something new everyday but this is basic in sales and it's called selling to the room, or in many cases to the individual. Andy has one speed and it's called rookie mode.

If your product or offer is actually good, you should always go more towards the softer side on default, because you will be likable to everyone. If you push for no reason even though the customer is already interested, you run the risk of pushing them away.

Obviously Andy. The other chunky guy is a real salesman and knows how to keep the customer coming back for repeat business. What's great is that the muscle guy Andy was already subtly insulting the other salesman when all he did was ask Andy to turn the music down and try practicing a soft sale, which is actually phenomenal advice. So the original commenter is spot-on if you were to turn Andy away he would 100-percent be the guy to hit you with a rude comment as you're walking away. Like the passive-aggressive way he asked for the music to be turned down saying that it was "too exciting" for the other salesman. When in reality it's like, "No Mother F'er your music is not too exciting it's to f'ing loud, you're inside, and there's other sales people that are courteous enough to keep their music down or not even bring music you piece of s***!"

I'm not saying Andy handled the situation perfectly but I will say that Andy is a paragon of what a salesman should be. He is living proof of where sales can take you in life if you just whip up a positive attitude and make the best of your life.

This is what Andy Elliot channel should be. Decimate competition & show ppl in the biz that suck.

You might want to stop while you're behind the muscle guy in the video is a complete rookie at sales and really doesn't know what he's doing. The chunky guy talkin about a soft sell is the pro. I've been in sales my whole life and I've seen sales people come and go. The sales people like the muscle guy will get a customer to try them out one time and then never come back. There are literal books on why not to Hard Sell. The basic idea is the chunky guy will get his customers as repeat customers giving him the ability to grow his business. The muscle-bound guy is actually hurting his own business and stunting its growth because the customers he gets using a Hard Sell will never come back and I mean never. They will also tell their friends to steer very clear of anything that guy is involved in.
