I took your advice about vocal lines to heart...God Only Knows by the Beach Boys, as you said, is an education in itself. I'm a huge fan of Stevie Wonder, so that's what got to me first, BUT...lol...I challenge anyone to try Hopelessly Devoted by the great lady from Australia. (Tears showed up before I could get to the second verse.) Thanks for continuing to inspire us , not only with your playing, but also with your extremely well developed sense of humor. 👊🙂
The World is definitely a better place with Mr. Timmons, thank you Papa!

Came back to watch this again. Andy is one of my all time favorites. His phrasing, tone, and melodies are top notch!
Andy timmons tone is almost instant recognisable. Can't miss that. His playing is so melodic that it sounds like a guitar is singing instead of a vocal.

Yep for sure!
I was at the NAMM show in 1995 in Anaheim and saw Andy playing a scheduled demo out on the floor. It really stayed with me, as I think that was the first time I recognized seeing a musician in person making music through his guitar as opposed to just performing or repeating something that had been practiced over and over. Bravo.

Thanks Brett, I love AT. There once was a wise man that said ‘I only know one thing, and that is that I know nothing’. I bet Andy agrees with this, being as humble as he is. And then his beautiful melancholic musical soul, I bet there were many more people crying (me being one of them) during that session on TPS. Playing that part is one of the items on my Bucket List 🤪😂 Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you both!
First of all thank you Brett Papa for this awesome teaching lesson that you put together and thank you Andy Timmons for his time and effort. I'm not going to get weird on y'all but this is just moving me to slow down and to get my playing on that another level. I won't say your level but I will say on higher level. It's very humbling to hear y'all play and commit to whatever it takes to enjoy and play guitar on higher levels. I Thank both of you for that. if I'm still alive, there's still room to grow and get glimpses of what y'all do

Andy is such a fine Gentleman and gosh…. what an artist. Oh boy… BTW Brett, probably the longest way from the neck pu to the bridge pu, ever. Its not over yet, maybe we get there…. 😀😀
This guy is in a totally different league!🤘anyway when i first started not knowing much at that time i used to focus way to much on visual playing and not ear playing. It was not until years later i started playing more from the ears than the eyes. The problem i had playing visually i was just seeing in shapes and my playing sounded very one dimensional.

It's funny. I actually cite Yngwie for influencing my vibrato and people give me weird looks for it. But if you listen to it, he actually has a really cool vibrato. And I agree with literally everything Andy said. Ears ears ears. And do 10 times more learning by ear after that. Learning vocal melodies. Wish more guitarists would do that.
Great stuff throughout, but Andy doing "Strawberry Fields Forever" at 45:54 is worth the price of admission by itself! :)

Vocal lines? …& horn lines, piano lines, aka melody lines, but different instruments (voices) teach you different approaches, I found that very helpful when I finally got around to guitar lines

Makes sense
Can u adjust the delay volume for each preset. So if u play rythem & go to lead can u adjust the volume more louder for lead. Or is it all the same volume
Great video, Andy seems like such a nice guy. The thing is you never see Andy and Michael McKean (lead singer for Spinal Tap) together, strange....thanks guys
25:20 is a total Richie Kotzen kinda thing. It’s such a great way to get better & if you really apply it you’re going to get awesome. Period. Good topic Andy

Seems like all Delay pedals are too difficult! The first and most important setting that I want is that sweet soft Rock solo Delay! 2nd I want is to sound like the Outfield Delay! The U2! then just a straight up wet Christian Rock solo! Firefall! Pure Prairie League! Poco.
