Heard it live and I still can't believe how amazing those notes ring out. I will say that I hope I see him live again where he might go full acoustic. Changer with a band is amazing, Changer all lone is life alteringly beautiful!

Andy Shauf, Leif Vollebekk, Aidan Knight all on one bill back in 2012 at the Rio Theatre in Vancouver, Canada ... the best $20 concert I’ve attended, was there for Aidan Knight and discovered both Andy and Leif. All 3 Canadian musicians making great strides on the global stage. Seeing Andy last year play “Judy” as the encore was a testament to the magic you get from going to live shows and seeing a favourite artist surprise you once again.

The first time I saw him, I snuck into his concert at club dada. I didn't know what I was getting into but it's been nothing but love since.

Amazing. Andy is so unpretentious despite his outstanding talent as singer and as songwriter.The third song, The Lottery, is so fucking brilliant. As if Nick Drake was playing April Come She Will. And Changer is so good. Keep it up, Andy!

His style of prose keeps me locked in, like reading Kerouac.

I'm so excited for this album! Saw Andy at El Club in Detroit over the summer and he played Neon Skyline. I was dumbfounded; it was so good and I was instantly filled with anticipation for the new record to hear the mysterious beautiful song he played once again.

I was wrong. This is Judy, I confused with the track, “Jeremy’s Wedding.” Studio recordings of both songs are only available with the 7” bonus disc that comes with The Neon Skyline on vinyl. My copy arrived yesterday, both tracks sound fantastic. Highly recommend.

Mennonite, low German, called Plauttdietsch. Barely perceptible for most part but comes out in intonation of certain words. Mennonites fled Russia in 1920's. Invited to Russia by Catherine the Great to farm Russian Steppes. She exempted them from military service.

Hey man! Capo 1st fret and it's chord shapes C F Em G - Andy's got it capo'd on the 4th but he's got his Waterloo tuned 1 and a 1/2 steps down. There's a hammer-on from the C to the F shape (4th string, second fret and then 3rd string second fret) and a quicker hammer-on from the G to the C on the 4th string 2nd to 3rd fret (G7). For the Em upward strum, it's ring finger 1st string 2nd fret, then pinky onto the 1st string 3rd fret. Grow your nails out a little and you're cooking - hope this helps!

Lol it’s super unique and I like it. I’ve only heard the song try again on CBC radio without knowing his name and came across this. As soon as I heard his voice I knew it was the guy from try again song. You might not like it now but I bet it will grow on you. Just like how the greats were all considered weird or different when they first came out

Andy's response when asked a similar question on his Reddit AMA: "I think it was just a gradual thing... it didn't really occur to me that I was singing weirdly. It's a result of holding vowel sounds I think, which was a result of trying to hear myself singing with shitty monitors at shows. I have a quiet voice so I don't really project that well - so holding vowel sounds is the only way I can hear what I'm doing? I dunno, does that make sense? I don't mean to sound so weird..."
