Not only one of the most lovable coaches of all-time but Andy Reid is actually pretty darn good at his job too. Reid is the winningest head coach in Eagles history, finishing his 14-year tenure with Philadelphia with a 140-102-1 record (including postseason). He won six NFC East championships, made nine postseason appearances, reached five conference title games, and earned one Super Bowl appearance with Philadelphia.
After the Eagles decided to go their separate ways from Andy, the Kansas City Chiefs capitalized in 2013, bringing in the veteran coach to a 5 year deal that included authorization over all football decisions. The latter proved to be extremely important to both the success of Reid and the Chiefs franchise. Why? Because even though Andy gives credit to GM Brett Veach, it is hard to imagine that he wasn't involved in the drafting of eventual superstar Patrick Mahomes in 2017. Regardless, Reid continued his legacy as a QB guru as he helped develop Mahomes enough in 1 year that the team was willing to part ways with then current QB Alex Smith.
How did that decision turn out? Well Patrick Mahomes threw for over 5,000 yards, 50 touchdowns while leading the Chiefs to a 12 and 4 record. Oh yea...Mahomes also won the MVP award that year. But Reid, Mahomes and the Chiefs were just starting to get cooking as they went on to win the Super Bowl the following season. Now Andy Reid is widely considered a one of the top 3 active coaches in the NFL today.
