As someone who is a Christian, it can be so hard to admit that you feel uninspired and lost. Arrow came out exactly when I needed to hear it. I felt like this was me, the emotional build from 1 drum rack not even a kick in the beginning, he decides to just start spittin verses and let his beat evolve after, which you rarely ever see in this genre, and at the same time he continually breaks the 4th wall by letting us the audience know that it took him a long time to to the work on this song from a split personality that time travels same house alternate universes and they get lost creating music for over 7 years without ever talking to each other, stuck in what seems like an infinity loop the emotion pours into every beat every song....

  • @smittencounter

    @smittencounter

    6 жыл бұрын

    @ For His Glory - When Andy says "The opposite of faith aint doubt, it's when I've got it all figured out" he is emphasizing that just because you're questioning your personal faith doesn't mean you've stopped believing. Everyone has faith in something, whether it's faith in God or faith that there is no God. If you doubt your faith it doesn't mean you've stopped believing in it, it just means that you're in a period of questioning it. If I were to tell you all "I've got it all figured out" would you believe me? What would you do? You would probably mock me, question me, test me, and poke at the heavy selfish pride that I just made apparent. We are free to do the same with our faith and we ought to make use of that freedom when doubt comes because DOUBT DOES COME. Even now you are questioning Andy rather than just taking his word for it and that's totally good and beneficial! However, you can't just leave it at opposing him without figuring out why he said what he said or what he meant by it. Andy isn't one to write without hours of forethought and years of life experience so he is absolutely suitable for trusting as a pastor (though we should always still hold even good pastors to scripture and discern for ourselves). We shouldn't be so defensive just because he's getting more popular either of that's the case. His popularity doesn't mean he's a sell-out idol, but it could definitely mean that what he's saying holds weight. He devoted an entire album to talk about how he's not a superhuman, he's "just another rapper called to point y'all to the cross". I see it in my young-adults ministry all the time. When people outside the church question them during an outreach project about why they believe they get angry, confused, emotional, let down, and just feel beat up. My young Jesus followers are taken by surprise that someone would question their faith! Why? Because they've never questioned their own faith before! They have no idea how to navigate these conversations. It's utterly amazing what faith people will take on just because their parents believed in it or because it's culturally appropriate. Real faith is faith that has honestly and intentionally been sought out, tested, questioned, and proven as true as much as we could determine or as much as The Spirit has opened our eyes to. Abraham in Genesis didn't just take Issac to the mountain for sacrifice with blind faith, whatever that is. Scripture tells us that Abraham thought about how God had previously followed through on His promises to Abraham and so Abraham knew he could trust God and His ability to still give Abraham a son by which Abraham's descendants would come because that was God's promise and scripture accounted this as "FAITH". Abraham thought that God would resurrect Isaac, but Abraham DIDN'T just agree to blindly slaughter his innocent son while ignorant to the purpose. He had reason to have faith in God and scripture approves of that thought through faith. I wouldn't place my entire life or my son's life on the line for something that wasn't true so I test my faith. I'm in such a close relationship with God now that even when I'm questioning Him I'm still talking with Him just like Job did. Faith isn't completely "well, I guess I'll just believe everything in this book since it seems to be good". Lions and pandas seem sweet and aesthetically attractive on the outside, but they sure will make a mess of your vital organs! Faith is more like "If this can't stand up to my questions then how can it stand up when I put my life into it? It can't be truth if it is false". God is true and God is good to answer our questions! We can't pretend to have it all figured out because that would make us more ignorant than smart as well as display our lack of honesty and integrity. I would be hard pressed to believe that someone can honestly and truthfully believe in God with their entire life and put Him on the throne of their heart if that person hasn't had a single question about God. We question everything that we love because the measure to which we know it is the measure to which we love it.

    ya in "I: The Arrow; or, Doubt and The Search for Clarity" I appreciate how Andy says not a lot of people talk about their struggles openly while going through them, usually we talk about them when they're over and in the past tense. He goes on to say that we do that because we'll come off as vulnerable, weak (which we are apart from Christ!) and we think people will try to fix us. Hearing Andy be real about his struggles while going through them is why I have this song on repeat---often haha the beat is on point too. Anyways as I first read your comment about spiritual warfare, it reminded me about this music video except he compares our spiritual warfare to the analogy of us being in an airplane/rocketship, heading to a destination, but there are invisible powers in the air that want to shoot us down. It's called "Ready Aim" by Mali Music kzread.info/dash/bejne/hKCr1NqhY6-cocY.html

    This video on mute is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥!!!! The words that pop up are even more powerful. It looks like he's drowning and can't get air. When he's "lost", the focus get hazy and the world goes red, until he prays (between "lost" and "found"). We need God constantly, just like we need to breathe air. Brilliant!!!!

    Getting real with our problems is great. Feeling all vulnerable before God is okay. His strength is made perfect in our weakness. Apostle Paul would rather boast in his weakness for therein is God's strength made perfect. I think as a church many have lost it because we are afraid to share our struggles with fellow believers to receive encouragement to go through the process. Everyone wants to appear as a "superman", having figured all of it out. The beauty of our walk with God is that it is very relational and as our Father, we can share how we truly feel (doubt, fear, anxiety, etc) and He is sure to remind us of His rich promises through His word and any other means He deems fit to build us up and grow in fellowship with/in Him.

    Lyrics Sometimes you can just be in a funk creatively or you know, as a person and it's like there's a fog around you and you can't see out of it, but, that's part of the journey Hm, patient, this beat done took its time Well, then so do I Look, uninspired, undefined Now somebody's gettin' fired Terrified, paralyzed, Twitter game verified Married life, very fire Understand I'm on demand
Undermanned, the Son of Man or Son of Sam
Somewhere in between the two, the meaning too Spend the evening, be with you Oh I know, I need it too Do I believe, believe I do On my faith walk, took the cynic, I mean the scenic route
Get lost, I be aloof, Adidas on, still need the boost What was the Eden fruit? I'll ask Him when I see Him Daily bread, that's per diem, but I'm fastin' like a BM Ridin' past ya in the P.M. in a stolen car, that's fleein' from the scene of a crime Apollo Creed, in his prime
Rocky verses, I'm a person that's tryna believe I'm worth it I'm workin' through it, but work is, well, work, but well worth it It's hella churches still hell is workin' fine What's that tell us, fellas hurtin', it's like melanin a crime That's the elephant we hide Truthfully, we probably lied Rather have a tribe than unity, so you and me divide I'm hellish and divine I'm trellis and the vine I'm tellin' me, "I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm, I know better" All I, all I want is clarity, clarity 'Cause all of my heroes are frauds just like me, just like me So let every man be a liar, let only God be truth And all of your heroes are frauds just like you I can't see through that smoke in the air That's the smoke in the air That's that smoke in the air All that smoke in the air The value of doubt is to keep you open to God's revelations If you don't doubt, you don't change If you have to have finite answers to infinite questions Uh, you're not gonna move Yeah, built my life on this (huh) Half my adult life unlearnin' Lies that I heard in a dumb sermon What I unearth got me uncertain More knowledge and more sorrow Worryin' that never fixed tomorrow Just take away all my strength today It was black and white, not paved with gray Maybe that cloud that I've been stuck in I construct it, I conduct it Orchestra of noise, I don't hate your voice I done made a choice, mic assumption A TV, tablet, tweetin', twerkin', grammin', gamin', rappin', workin' Fashion workin', workin', workin', workin', workin', workin' Can't tell if (lost) My mind or just made it (lost) My faith or misplaced it (lost) My pain or upgraded Lost my happy thought, then I got jaded (lost) Focus in my direction (lost) In details and perfection (lost) All my faith in white Jesus and my leaders (found) They weren't who I thought all these years (found) They weren't even worthy of tears (found) The opposite of faith ain't doubt It's when I get it all figured out Some days it get in all my trust Some days I can feel so empty Some days I feel like You love me Some days I feel like You left me The second I'm furious with God, I'm tumbling close Because you cannot be furious with somebody who's not there All I, all I want is clarity, clarity 'Cause all of my heroes are frauds just like me, just like me So let every man be a liar, let only God be truth And all of your heroes are frauds just like you I can't see through that smoke in the air That's the smoke in the air That's that smoke in the air All that smoke in the air Through that smoke in the air That's the smoke in the air That's that smoke in the air All that smoke in the air I want God to wrap me in the everlasting wings and say "There there, it's alright" And that cosmic affirmation of "Yes, I know it's terrible, I know it hurts, but be patient, it's gonna work out I'm not gonna lose, I'm gonna win, it's alright." And that's the, the, the basic affirmation that I think only true doubters can come to

So hard, hurrs me so much more than fake lying sad songs of "pop culture" because these doubts and these questions and these feelings is what i really deal with these days. 1 year ago i aborted my baby child with its mother, screwed up w drugs and booze again but Jesus met me where i was lowest and set me on firm ground amd has established me and confirmed me, now im engaged, working my dream job, saving money and stuff but still things dont always feel right because of this pornography issue that i have and at work i still act like a lost man, even worse some days. I just pray he lets me suffer a little whike longer before he restores me.

    No words can describe how amazing and powerful this is. Andy, thank you. I can't remember if you did this song at Baltimore back in October of 2017, but I remember "I Ain't Done". I was so stoked for this album, and now that it's out, I'm happy that it's here. Mr. Mineo, thank you for being a great influence and just for the awesome music and great stuff you put out. God Bless ✌

    GOD is ALWAYS GOOD. Even though you felt he deserted you. He leave you when you need him the most. Growning pains makes you grow.Have trusts in GOD plan. Just letting you know GOD is always there, Never left you. Clear the cloud you created , clean your ear from negative thought; you feel more ,you see more & YOU know.
