Andy Kaufman's Cannonball Story

Комедия

This is an excerpt from The Andy Kaufman Special which was aired on ABC in 1979. Andy, as his "Foreign Man" persona, tells a story about the three people who were carrying the biggest canon in the world to Spain. One of my favorite Andy bits.

Funzo he plays someone everyone can identify with. The innocent tourist/foreigner. I wish he had though of more jokes for the character. :(. It's so good.

TV Situation Comedies use to run recorded laugh tracks, during the airing of the show, of audiences laughing, because the producers of the shows determined that the viewers would not otherwise know when to laugh. The producers felt that the viewers needed to be lead around by the nose, and told . . . okay, this is where you laugh, then wait for the set-up, then this is where you laugh again, and this is where you pause, now laugh some more . . .

The UK has produced many great comedians: Morecambe and Wise, Les Dawson, Billy Connolly (OK, he hasn't been funny for years but he was once), Russell Kane...and then there's you. What happened with you? When did you find out that you have learning difficulties?

@3ISAMAGICNUMBR You don't understand it, and that's ok. But he doesn't have almost a million views on ceveral clips here on youtube just because people think it's awesome to look at a dead guy. He's not a joke teller (wich he's pointing out in this clip by making his foreign character tell a joke and totally miss the timing of when to hit the punchline), so it takes a lot more to understand his humour, than a random standup guy.

Last comment/question was to "popartproductions". Anyone who starts using Andy's kind of humor will must certainly be taken for a moron. The fact that so many doesn't get it makes it so much better for the ones who do. (forgive my poor english)

When people laughed at some of his jokes, I have a feeling that Andy thought they were completely stupid. Its like reliving the days of Rome where people frequented theaters while their country burned to the ground behind them. Andy wasn't funny, he was real.

genius! took the idea of being laughed at for the wrong reasons and turned it into an act so sublimely funny that those who 'got the gag' found it funny and those who didn't laughed 'at him' not with him. Years later, Ricky Gervais did the same in The Office... far beyond his time of 'joke telling' comedians from that era!
