Andy Griffith's Vintage Car Collection

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Andy Griffith is perhaps most known for his work on The Andy Griffith Show. Loved as much for its whistling theme song and the "Sheriff Andy Taylor" character as it is for the perfectly pleasant town of Mayberry and its population of happy country folk. Andy Taylor was a salt-of-the-earth kind of man on The Andy Griffith Show, and while a wide variety of classics made an appearance on the show, in real life Griffith had an equally opulent car collection. Griffith’s life was adorned with a remarkable collection of meticulously restored vintage automobiles. Today we're taking a look at the personal collection of beautiful vintage automobiles, owned by the legendary, Andy Griffith.

Andy seemed to prefer Fords. What kind of surprises me is that there didn't seem to be any Cadillacs in his collection.

July/Aug 1973 Ford Life magazine has a story about his cars. At the time he had the 30 Cabriolet, a 30 Tudor, the 34 pickup, the Buick convertible, the 1912 Baker Electric someone else mentions (I saw that at Harrah's Museum too) and an English Taxi. He lived in North Hollywood and owned a place in North Carolina where he stored the 55 Ford be bought new.

It also says the first car he bought was a 52 Ford station wagon, two door with overdrive . 52 was when he quit his teaching job to become an entertainer. It says he gave that car to his parents when he bought the 55. And noticing all the cars on his TV show i'd say he's a Ford guy. I already admired him before reading that.

I was beginning to think that for a man of his means he certainly was going the cheap route in his car collection... until they finally got to the Packard, that is. Nonetheless, Leno could certainly have shown Andy a thing or two about car collecting. But, of course, Andy was a staunch Democrat, so I guess you can't expect him to know much concerning these things.

As much as I loved the AG Show and old American cars, I lost a ton of respect for Andy Griffith when I saw him and Ron Howard (aka 'Opie') do that campaign commercial for Barack Obama, pushing his Socialist/Marxist "Change" agenda. Henry Wrinkler ("Fonzie" from Happy Days) was also in it. It's one thing being Liberal, which would be bad enough, Obama was way past just Liberal.

@@dickdomain719- Well, they didn't outright push for "Marxist transformation", but everyone should know what Obama's campaign slogan "Change" meant along with his pledge to, once elected, "Fundamentally transform the United States of America". The guy was surrounded by communists his entire life, going back to his days as a boy in Hawaii with his "Uncle Frank". UF turned out to be Communist Party USA member Frank Marshall Davis. He spent 20+ years in 'reverend' Jeremiah Wright's phony church listening to Wright promote "Liberation Theology", a communist-concocted bogus religion created by the Soviet KGB to promote revolution throughout latin America. Black communist James Cone later came up with the "Black Liberation" variant of it. He worked closely for years with Bill Ayers, a founder and leader of the communist-revolutionary domestic terrorist group, the Weather Underground. He hired admitted communist Van Jones to be his so-called "Green Jobs Czar". And he selected John Brennan to be his CIA chief! Brennan is on record admitting that, a few years before entering the CIA, having voted for Gus Hall for president! GH was the Communist Party USA candidate for president. Not only that but he was a Stalinist, the worst of the worse pro-USSR communists! The Soviets at that time were heavily funding the CPUSA! Great choice to head the CIA "Comrade Obama"! And these things are just the tip of the iceberg.
