Exactly. Give him 1 or 2 games out if he needs it. Stop the analysis
The amount of people on here moaning about Rodri’s candid comment, including Andy, is ridiculous. Rodri has been playing 2-3 high intensity matches at the highest levels of the game for years and is on a 66 match unbeaten run for both club and country. He is the glue and single most important player for his club and country. It’s not just the physical side of the game that gradually wears the body down each season. A player like Rodri is laser focused every second of every game and he literally does not lose. It becomes mentally fatiguing over the course of high octane seasons year after year at the very top challenging for all the top trophies. He’s human and that’s the reality. So many people are talking about their day jobs and how “hard” they work. That’s completely irrelevant. Rodri is literally the best player in his position in the entire world and gets paid very good money as a result. Can you say the same about yourself? Chances are very likely if you’re spending time commenting on here, then absolutely not. The guy has earned everything that has come his way. He’s a gem of a player and fantastic to watch.

People like you complain about players like Rodri making so much money without realizing a guy like him is literally the best player in his position in the most popular sport in the world. It’s called supply and demand and he went into a very high risk but very high upside profession. Belittling him says much more about you than it does about him being candid about his body needing a rest. If you’ve actually played the game at a high level, you can easily understand what Rodri is saying. The body breaks down over the course of the season and the mind does as well.

Talk sport is the most base commentary on football. Presenters like this bloke are simplistic and plain thick.
This old school approach to not needing rest need to go! There footballers and athletes not office workers it’s completely different. The body will get tired and you’ll eventually get injured. Andy need to get with the times and realise he is a dinosaur with that approach to footballers don’t need a rest. This is exactly the reason most people get injured when training or playing, they don’t warm up and they don’t rest enough.
Usually I'd agree with Andy on this, but the level Rodri plays at and the amount of physical as well as mental pressure he takes on it's too much.
As a city fan, it’s true and the fact he is such a high quality CDM that we’ve not been able to find anyone to give him a match off unless he’s already injured. He should be tired. All of our others squad players have been rested along the way aside from Rodri. He was being honest and he’s not wrong

footballers are rquired to play this much football because of the demand for football - its that same demand that allows them to be paid obscene amounts of money. Its a double edged sword - and if work tires them out, then they just joined most of the other people on this planet.
