Hi. I noticed that no iOS/Android comparison ever talked about a central point for me: Apple has no need to use users personal data because they own money by selling devices. They said so, and they have no interest in lying to their customers. So iPay, iMessage, Health, iCloud and other are non intrusive. In the other hand Google live exclusively by exploiting personal data. This is the biggest difference between the two companies. I choose to go with Android but knowing that fact.

There's basically no point in jail breaking an android phone lol. My Samsung has access to downloads, emulators, custom home and lock screens, and more while Apple barely has any customization. What got me was being able to play emulators without lag

Exactly this, there was a time when I seriously could not understand the appeal of an iPhone. Yeah I had the early ones, because there really wasn't anything like it at the time, but I switched to android after the first nexus. At which point in time, I would literally try and convince everyone I knew to get an android phone, I was baffled when my wife would moan that she missed her iPhone or when my brother, didn't like his. Larger screen, more customisation, notification screen, more functionality, and less steps to do everything. How could you not like it?! Since then, I have also switched back, realising that I don't really use any of the customisation features and don't like rooting anymore (used to swear by CM). Ios8 really bridged the gap in some aspects in regards to functionality. Now I can definitely understand, the appeal. Its a no thrills, no worries type of phone, everything is easy and idiot proof, timely updates and just does everything I need it to with out fuss.

HolloVVpoint Exactly man. I was a total fandroid and hated Apple. Switched to iPhone and I'm not sure I'll ever go back. It's just so consistent and just works. iTunes is also something I really appreciate, as I never really had any music organization with Android. I tried a million different things, but ultimately most of my music library was on my phone with rare backups, a perfect storm for disaster to strike if something happened to my phone. Sure I miss the customization, but I can't give up the perks of iOS for just that alone.

***** Actually by now, anything thats on the App Store is also on the Play Store. I even searched for some statistics on which store has more apps and Google Play toped of at 1,300,000 apps while the App Store got 1,200,000 apps. In conclusion, both store are basically the same.

I got my OP 3T switching from an iPhone 4S. The only thing I'll miss from iOS is iMessage and group chats, but I enjoy how I can change almost every aspect on my phone.

I dislike the way that people revere Apple as being so "innovative." Google will release Google Wallet in 2011, but when Apple releases Apple Pay 3.5 years later, all of a sudden, it's "I can pay with my phone! It's the future! So innovative, Apple!" Android creates a massive array of smartwatches, but when Apple releases the Apple Watch, it's "I can call and text from my wrist! It's the future! So innovative, Apple!" People gawk over anything Apple releases and flock to the stores to buy, even if it's been around for a while, just because it's... Apple.

Apple & security in the same sentence is a big joke, considering how easy some university students reached to hack Macs & iPhones, to get personal informations from it. Now on this feature you might be right that it can be "more secure" than it's been on Android devices, but certainly not really secure.

James Burrell Doubtful Apple would care though. They are after all the second largest smartphone OEM out there. If they can make a phone for much less money than say Samsung or LG that puts tons and tons of money into R&D and marketing, they have a "better" product in terms of profit. Why would Apple want to invest as long as they stay on, or near, the top?

Dedicated to 1 brand only like iOS so that it's perfectly optimized, and paired up with cutting edge hardware like Android for even further power. No bloatware, no useless 1st party apps that noone wants, support for Android and possibly iOS apps. Speed, customization, looks and simplicity perfection. One can dream.

I feel a brewing fan war here. Anyways let me put in my two cents about the topic. Ill begin by stating, I used to be a solid supporter of apple products, this was back in the day that iOS had a clear lead over Android. Lets face it, android used to be really crappy, it wasn't up until the release of android jellybean, followed by some OS improvements in kitkat then a total revamp of the UI and OS stability in Android 5.0 Lollipop; putting Android M aside, the OS is very snappy and clean of crashes (assuming you are using a flagship device). On relation to my previous side note, one of the things that always seems to bring down average consumer thoughts of android devices are these low end smart phones. Honestly though (example), your parents buy you a $300 android as your first phone and you hate it because of how slow it is, running on outdated software and under powered hardware. Then you cry to your parents to buy you a shinny new iPhone because all your friends have them. These devices ranging from $600+. Well no kidding your going to have a bad view of Android. There are so many cases on the internet of people stating android is bad because they had some old HTC desire C phone, they get that new iPhone and instantly believe iOS is better because (no kidding) its faster than "Android". Lets be clear here, there are thousands of android phones out there. Only a few companies are making these high end devices that can compete with iPhone, if you dont put in your research you may end up with a lemon android (sorry to point out, but sort of like the HTC one m9). since the release of Lollipop, things have improved drastically. The UI is polished, clean and modern. Hardware limitations are less of an issue now, and innovative features are being added in every release (of course iOS has "innovative features", how ever many of them are copied from Android. That goes without saying iOS does have some nifty software tricks that Androids don't have). In no way do i think iOS is a bad operating system, but for me it just doesnt do enough. All the claims of Apples's ecosystem being perfect just doesnt make sense to me. First off, if you dont have a Mac, your already behind and very limited to this ecosystem they have made. What if your like me and prefer windows 10? well already getting an iPhone would limit me to some of its features. Quick example; i downloaded iTunes for my XPS 13, and without even doing anything on it, it starts to get issues, almost as if Apple did it on purpose. being able to recieve texts and calls on my computer, wont work. Apple TV, again really limited if you dont have a Mac, or iPhone (etc). You have to invest in their products to get things to work. Now on the Android side, things work with Mac, they work with windows. They work with Apple TV (using AllCast), there are many more Smart Watch options available based on price range, look and functionality. I can use my phone as a USB stick if i need to quickly drag and drop files from my computer, none of that syncing through iTunes that apple users have to deal with (which, is very annoying to use and limited). No developer settings on iOS (in fact the developer ecosystem has even less mobile OS based application to help with productivity). You are very limited to what you can and cant do on iOS due to it not being open source, 3rd party apps? Nope not possible on stock iOS. Customization? not really. A wide range of phone choices? well if you call 5 different iPhones since the iphone 5 release a "wide range of phone choices" then sure (but knock Apple budget phones out of there cause that's not really a thing). Anyways i think you get where i am going with this. My Oneplus one is considered budget in today's standards and does everything incredibly well, i can install launchers for more personal customization, disable applications if i want to, enable themes, switch messaging apps, contacts, dialers, apply custom lockscreens (how ever i like things to look like stock android 5.0), i can do more productive things on my phone like dragging and dropping Word documents onto my device, then viewing and editing them. Hell i can even develop a quick app, drag and drop the Apk, install it and use it with no issues at all. My phone cost a fraction of the price that a top end iPhone would cost, and it can do more! People just please research more into each operating system, research phones a little more. Maybe an android would be better for you, maybe an iPhone would be. I know there are many people out there who would be more fit to use a device like the Note 5 or Oneplus 2, but just got an iphone because say their friends have one or they havent looked into other phones, who knows really.

+Nic_Nak_Nic Nicholas 4.3 was my first real, flasgship phone version (TMobile Note 3), but I have been following Android closely with an iPhone 4S. After I was kinda disappointed by the 5, I got a note 3, loved it, and ditched it for OnePlus One back in like September, and never looked back. I literally see no appeal to iDevices anymore. Sure, they're stable, but their planned obsolescence is pretty terrible. iPhone is a status symbol, nothing more to me. Android has a future everywhere and being everywhere, and iPhone only has a future in the US, since Android wins basically everywhere else. Who knows what happens from here?

In the past, it would be a question of do you want a faster phone(ios), or a slower phone(android) Now it all down to personal preference, whether the user wants optimization or choice of many different devices. Simplistic or more functions (even if you dont use all), and sometimes past experience

***** The iphone 7 has really fast storage and an amazing processor(by iphone standards) for its super optimized hardware. In my country, the iphone 7 costs at least $200 more than other phones, maybe except the pixel, while you get get pretty good androids for cheap, which is why i like android more, especially the choices. Accidentally soft bricked my android once. Managed to fix it myself, and its back to normal. If it was an iphone, i would have to go to the repair shop, and the warranty would be voided.

5 years later and it still holds true most of the time. I'm a full Android user but I did try using iOS for a few months because of some circumstances. I like both sides now have more balanced competition.

Most people on the comments are just Fanboys. Neither OS is better than the other, they're different. It's all about preferences. I love Android because of it's customizability, and because there a lot of Android phones to choose from, of all the manufacturers and all the prices. That doesn't mean Android is better than IOS, that's just my preference. IOS has a lot of good points too, like the stability of the OS, perhaps more quality apps, less Piracy (this is good for apps develipers) and the way IOS manages system memory makes it run very fast with much less resources than Android (that's the main reason the IPhone still has a dual core CPU and only recently upgraded to 2GB RAM). Every platform has it's pros and cons, it all about choices.

Finely someone made this. Do you know how long i've been waiting for someone to make this. I bet this is the only professional video of this that does both smartphone OS's. Doesn't mean i'm gonna Subscribe to this channel though. I have yet to see as to what els you have.

I've used both and I prefer android. IOS is a great option for simplicity and ease of use but I like custom launchers, widgets, and the openness android offers. I can install apps from the browser and other sources. And if I get a new phone, chances are most of my stuff can be transferred simply by pulling my SD card and putting it in the new device

I have to say, android has to be better I'm using iOS now that's because I only have 1 iOS device but android is more customizable and you can put more storage and GB in it with micro SD cards I have a 32 GB in my android tablet you can change the icons and make it different and you have pre-installed stuff such as KZread you have a better browser then Safari (not saying safari sucks) in fact, it has a few internet browsers and the home screen isn't just a bunch of icons and folders at least some android devices have different designs in the like Motorola and Samsung have different home screens and the phone don't look the same iOS the 6s looks the same as the 6 come on Apple, make something new.

ChewyIsAwesome I feel like Apple made the strong foundation and other companies like Google and Samsung are using that foundation to build stuff In my opinion iPhones are better at games and most of them last a pretty long time Androids are more for daily use and more user friendly But still I'd choose iPhone since I'm a really heavy gamer lol

Both are different and unique in my opinion. To me both OSs lack something. iOS lacks customization and flexibility but in its favor, it just works and very well! Android lacks quality apps, and non-destructive native photo editing that came in ios 8. If both were combined and such device supported micro SD cards, I'd be in love

Wes Jerentosky It comes down to guidelines. At the start of Android, there were little to no guidelines for apps, such as navigation, layout, components and design. For Android now, Material Design is a definitive guideline to keep a red thread across the OS, which iOS has had for a long time. It also comes down to the developer tools for each platform. Apple has had great tools (Xcode, Instruments, etc.) and APIs for a long time. When Google bought Android, they based their tools on other open software (e.g. Eclipse) which is great for specific developers but not for others. Then there's the designer community, which tends to make companies based on iOS/OS X. Apple created a new market. There's companies such as Realmac, Bjango and Panic-honestly I can't think of any companies creating software exclusively for the Android platform.

Wes Jerentosky If you liked Android, you might like Jolla's Sailfish OS (from Nokia ex-employees) or Canonical's Ubuntu phones. They're open-source, both run Qt and QML (not Java crap and Ubuntu also runs HTML apps like Firefox OS). They don't have many apps right now, but their quality will be on par with iPhone's. If you're interested, you should check them out ! :)

While I liked Android's openness, I always liked iOS ease of use, consistent look and awesome UI integration until Matias Duarte joined Android and brought all of his awesomeness with him. I love the philosophy behind the Material design! When it is well integrated, it is so gorgeous, fun and easy to use. But Android is still having serious performance issues (now being compensated by high tech, but expensive) and inconsistencies across its UI. Having said that, some of the choices made in the iOS7 design language really turned my stomach tbh.

I prefer Android smartphones and iOS tablets.

Both are fantastic in their own right. I'll be in the market for a new phone soon and the reason I'm gravitating towards iOS is the support for apps is far greater. Main apps such as Twitter and Instagram are still so far behind on Android. Not the software's fault particularly. However, that could shift soon and more developers can focus on Android but that might take a while.

TheCameraHatesMe I dont know what social apps you talk about but to me, apps on iOS are far behind the ones on Android. Not only is the app store messy, cluttered and lacking functionality (cant uninstall, really?), its also not as integrated as Google play. If I get an app on my iPhone, I have to do the same thing again on my iPad. There's an app store for mobile, mac, and then iTunes. Not to mention the others on books, newsstand, etc. Horrible. The app itself is the same old interface. Navigation buttons and views. Thats why iOS UI development is much easier than Android. And from the green gingerbread, to holo, to holo white, to material, Android has design down. Especially with material, its got the fluidity. I dont get how twitter and instagram are behind on Android, on the contrary, I think they're far ahead. I use whatsapp all the time and you dont get support for whatsapp web on iOS.

+XDKX101 to be honest you can uninstall apps and it is way easier than android we can simply just. Touch and hold our apps and we can "uninstall" unlike android where you have to go to google play find the app and "uninstall it"

Android comes along changes alot more, Innovates more and we got the playstation. You see just like playstation, android is ahead more features and less strict. If you chose Apple, you'll get an almost perfect phone, but Android is a no-brainer for power users

You talk like the HTC G1 was a buggy mess.... it was not and had many features the iPhone did not. GPS, Video, Bar-code scanning (with camera) and MMS to name a few. Also Android had an SDK where you could make native apps. The first iPhone "apps" were nothing more than mobile websites that were coded to work well with the iPhone. You could not make an iPhone app that actually had access to any of the phone OS or hardware.... just a mobile site. So when you say the iPhone was smooth compared to the G1, you are correct. But the functionality of the first iPhone was a joke compared to the G1. Don't forget G1 got GPS turn by turn navigation with an update before iPhone even had GPS.

Arif Khizer Never had one, just have Android on my TV but i don't see this critical cause Android isn't optimized for using it on a TV. I always see Android on the new Samsung Galaxys(3S,4S,5S,6S) and on the Sony Z3(yes i have friends). You don't has to have the things you are talking about. You don't also need a iPhone to talk shit about it you know ;-)

Daniel B. Oh I am sorry. My question came of rather rude due to a misunderstanding, I am not trying to criticize your grounds for your criticism. I was genuinely curious. On the topic of lag and slowness within the UI. Android 5.0 has seemed to have ridden the UI of that element. Unless you run severe CPU and RAM consuming services all at once lag should not be a problem.

I just switched from Android. I am SO TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTED in iOS. I have the 7 Plus and as an Apple computer owner (iMac and MacBook Pro) I cannot in my heart understand why this iPhone is so Blackberry in functionality. Now you might say that's stupid but OMG! iPhones are so simplistic and slow for folks who want to work fast, get things done easily or efficiently. I appreciate your work. You have a great presentation and delivery. My iPhone 7 Plus is just horrendous. The keyboard sucks! Third party keyboards suck in turn because Apple won't let an app like Swiftkey perform as wonderfully as it does on ANdroid. I have used Swiftkey many years. It's UTTERLY amazing BUT on iOS it also sucks! I cannot copy and paste easily and trying to move my cursor brings up the stupid magnifier, which is good for old folks or visually challenged folks! These are just a few things that remind me of my Blackberry from 2006. All my contacts synced from Google but when I try to dial a contact with the dialer keys and start typing a person's name, iOS doesn't show me the contact or options when I press the keypad/number pad. OMG, what a simple feature and NOT AVAILABLE on my new iPhone 7 Plus. Widgets??? ANdroid had them forever!!! There are SO MANY things/features/apps that make Android a sheer delight. What is wrong with Apple and people who "love" their iPhones??? I DO NOT GET IT! ANdroid is fast, easy, intuitive and fun. Android is efficient, lighting fast at getting things done and smart. My iPhone 7 Plus is slow, annoying and feels like I'm living in the past! If you have any tips to counter my rant, I'm all ears!
