It depends BUT: Android actually pronounces the name Jakub correctly assuming you or your ancestors are Slavic. Jacob is a completely different name.

Will Eaton Well the truth hurts I guess. I mean, saying you are a fan of the Apple ecosystem is essentially saying you are happy to limit your options to only one company and to whatever they choose to offer you, at whatever price. Once invested there's no way out. It's a very insidious platform they've created which guarantees future customers regardless of hardware design and pricing.

MegaTechpc there’s nothing wrong with Apple though which is why some people just keep going back. No different than someone buying a civic over and over again. You can’t fault someone for hanging a preference. I’ve been android all my life except for my current iPhone. They both have pros and cons. When it comes to updates, customer support and stability. I’m sorry Apple blows android away. Android is more fun and allows for customization but the ecosystem is horribly fractured because of the “choice” people like to brag about.

Just say google how to pronounce your name. Give command : Pronounce yakub as jacob

Due to immigrants. Yaqob or Yaaqov in Hebrew and Yakub in Arabic.

I've seen a few of these episodes. This last one got me to subscribe and hit the bell. Good job, boys.

The first comparison was one of my favourites, and this one is just as entertaining. Now that both systems handle the basics, time to test the next level, for example, on-the-fly re-routing to avoid accidents or road closures, availability of other applications, etc.

Mabirc well android has been improving every year. My pixel shows no sign of slowing down since day 1. Unfortunately we can't say the same for iPhone 5, 5s, 6, etc etc.

No, Netcruiser means you can use the Android Auto app on your mobile phone, without an AA/Apple CarPlay compatible infotainment system. Just open AA on your device, but don't plug it into USB of an AA/ CarPlay compatible car... the same AA infotainment screen just comes up on the phone itself. This is really helpful when you use rental cars. You get the same AA experience. I do this in my old 2008 Nissan Altima that has no infotainment system. It doesn't even have Bluetooth, however, I bought a small Bluetooth gateway and plugged it into the AUX audio port and pair my Samsung S8 to the bluetooth gateway as a trusted device. So now when I approach the Altima, the S8 pairs to the BT gateway and AA open automatically! Now I have 2018 tech in a 2008 car! However, Apple CarPlay only works with Apple CarPlay compatible cars. So, Netcruzer is correct. Apple CarPlay is... lame : )

Chris Farrer yep you are right. I drove my other car without a radio on a roadtrip this past weekend and had my phone tethered to a Bose soundlink mini I just chucked in the cup holders and used an airvent phone mount with Android auto playing Spotify and Google Maps out of the Bluetooth speaker. Very similar experience to how I use it on my head unit, was great.

Excellent 2018 Update!!!! Time to go shopping on your website (the 'hipster' wardrobe change-out reminded me). I was on holiday using my IPhone for directions and the success rate for Apple Maps getting an address right was 1 in 4. Google Maps was 4 in 4. From a safety perspective and not being distracted Google Maps and the translation engine are superior. In addition, when on foot, public transport or driving, Google Maps wins consistently.

Apple maps does seriously blow. When me and my girl friend moved we tried using her phone for directions. Sometimes it worked but after like three times of getting dicked around by it we then only used my google maps. And google maps has yet to ever fail me.

Thanks for doing an update to this. I was actually watching the first one over the weekend and wondering what would happen now. Please if you read this, you should highlight that Android Auto is running a version of Google Assistant, so actually I have my WeMo lights, thermostat and other home stuff hooked up with Google Home and I can control all of that from my CRV 2017. So I pull into the garage and can have the lights turn on by voice command. Also, you should test how easy it is to play music or podcasts, which is something I imagine people driving need to be able to do without looking. Finally, you could also check the voice triggers ("Hey Google," or "Hey Siri") rather than hitting the button to activate the software every time.

I'm totally liking this video because Android is superior especially with google maps graphics. I just finished not too long ago a cross-country road trip all by myself for 66 days and without android auto the trip wouldn't have been anyways as easy because Google was my own assistant in the car, if I wanted a gas station or food while the nav is on, it would show me all the restaurants and gas stations on my route (plus gas prices for gas stations). PS You guys are killin' it for a new youtube channel, keep it up!

That's the biggest thing I think the video overlooks. Getting good search results is only half the problem. The actual nav software after you get those results, and how good it is, is at least as important.

I saw you complained about iPhone 6s with new iOS version. It could be interesting to compare how Android and IOS works with latest version after few years. For example iPhone 6s and Galaxy S6 with latest IOS and Android version. I don’t have any idea about results

Android hands down has a better Human-Machine Interface. Their database is so much better, richer, and they understand something a real human would say while driving, not something someone would have to read off a script with car stopped on the side of the road. Like, if you're just saying "Market St., Ohio", obviously I'm asking to be navigated there, but Apple doesn't know what to do. I don't want to have to say "Navigate to" or "Take me to" everytime before speaking of an address. AA wins!

Just like how linux has multiple "flavors", the operating system lets manufacturers and developers modify how the system looks and behaves. Oh, and android is also free.

@@Stranger242-2 Slightly off topic, but a Macbook Pro 2018 has very similar specs to a Dell XPS 13, for significantly cheaper. Unless you go for the 4K model, in which its priced about the same. But even then, the 4K XPS STILL has better hardware. When you buy any Apple product, you aren't just paying for the hardware. You're also paying for the brand. Because its Apple, they can basically charge an arm and a leg for something that looks pretty, yet people will still buy it because.. well, Apple!

@@Maximdietz I think you fail to realize that the core component of android is based around linux. Also. If this is so, then why is Apple behind with features like wireless charging, NFC, facial recognition, removable storage, etc... Additionally, I could easily go out there on the internet, get an ISO for android, load it to an SD card, then put it on a Raspberry Pi. For free.

I actually switch to a Pixel 2 XL from a iPhone X because I want to use Android Auto (mostly for the ability to use waze). To me most of the default features are about the same on both platforms, but apple has too much limitations on third party apps for carplay. Btw, I have been using iPhones since 2008.

Both work well. You still have to learn how to ask each system what it is you want it to do for you so you get the result you’re looking for.

It's gotta be something with Hyundai/Kia's infotainment system then. I've been hearing from other Kia owners with similar issues, but a friend hasn't once had the issue in his CR-V.

You want to know something else cool? Next time you're in a Honda with Android Auto/CarPlay (can confirm this on 2017, not sure about other years), ask it to navigate somewhere and you'll find something interesting... Take a look at your dash cluster.. there, in the middle ring, you'll see arrows that show your next turn, and well as a vertical bar beside it and a number of meters till that turn is imminent... And yes, only on Android. Doesn't show up at all on CarPlay. #teamdroid

Something Something Dark Side umm maybe wirelessly because a lot of cars with Apple CarPlay or android auto are coming with Qi chargers which then become pointless if you have to still plug your phone in to use CarPlay and auto cuz the wire will charge it

AndroidAuto has Google Maps and Waze though. Also, you can modify AA. I have KZread and OBD2AA (reads the OB2 port like Boost, MAF sensors, etc and displays them on my head unit) on mine.

Mabirc my phone never shuts down actually my phone lives on thanks to the great battery while isheeps has to charge the phone twice a day

You guys need to do mirrorlink or kenwoods new miracast v2 where you can use the touch screen on the infotaintment to control your phone, that way you can use google map on both!!

Sweet. You should also do a visual comparison between Google Maps in Android Auto vs Google Maps in Apple CarPlay. I've tested both, and everything in Apple CarPlay just seems to have a much sharper resolution.

Good test.. good video. I don't use either. Just put my Note 8 in a mount.. stream the Bluetooth via Aux port. And give voice commands. An app called Drive mode can even let you respond to incoming messages hands free. Bixby has a few cool commands you can't do with Google assistant.. And you can make macro and layered commands. Having the phone do multiple things with one command.
