Came at late age 30 , and was plagued with injuries back to back and when you get hurt at that age it’s much hard to recover than when you are 22/23 , plus Drogba wasn’t an ideal partner for him and for his style and mourinho didn’t really help him . But look at those goals , really there isn’t one ugly goal this guy was phenomenal truly legend . What he did with Ac Milan and Ukraine is remarkable and historic . If he would have played with Chelsea at age of 20 instead of 30 without any questions he would have dominated the premier league for many years

sheva did just fine at chelsea- people forget he played a completely different role than he had at milan- he was playing behind drogba- there's a reason drogba was as successful as he was during his years that he played w/ sheva- sheva was great OFF the ball too- a lot of casuals don't understand that.

@@supernice_auto Yes Sheva was much more versatile player than for example Inzagi or Drogba, he could play much deeper, he wasn't only a classical striker.

He was an unbelievable striker, he could score from anywhere the way he decided.

That goal against Tottenham! Classic

He is one of my favourite strikers ever. He was lethal. As a Chelsea fan, I was nostalgic when he joined from Milan. The owner wanted him, the coach didn't. He is one of the reasons Mourinho had to be sacked, he didn't want to play him at all. He didn't like Crespo too, another of my favourites since his Lazio days. Those two are not defensive and cannot be relied as lone foci as Mourinho needed in the likes of Drogba.

Да не. Шева по сравнению с Миланом в Челси был не тот. Хотя иногда и выдавал матчи редко приличные. Виной и травмы, и просто не его команда. Таких примеров полно. Например Михаэль Баллак после перехода в этот же Челси. Ривалду после перехода в Милан. Фернандо Торрес после перехода в Челси... Все эти супермастера не показывали того, что на самом деле могут и умеют.

@@declanhampson1098 I strongly disagree. As a Milan fan who rarely missed any of their games in the past 25 years, I'd say he was pretty consistent for the entirety of his 7 seasons with Milan. In fact, I have never in my life seen any player who gets back in shape so fast after an injury. During the 2004-2005 season he was off for some 5 or 6 months, second game after he came back he was the same player. He made a decision for his family. Milan fans can say what they want about him or his wife, but I respect a man who puts his family first. Some things in life are bigger than football. But kissing that Chelsea jersey after his first goal, on his first game, that was just lack of class.

Shevchenko career at Chelsea not ruined by jose or anyone. He join Chelsea at his late 30, and because of injury, it's why he can't deliver his best at Chelsea.. I love shevchenko.. And he not flop like everyone said...

​@@mjig4178did you see how fast he was during the 2006 goals????he lost some speed but the fact is they bought a player who did not fit in the system....same as with Lukaku....they have a habit of doing that....he went from Kaka to Lampard who was a goalscoring playmaker.....more of a second striker so Sheva was restricted to more of a left winger right footed always played out of position.....a 40 mil reserve most of the time who was played occasionally.....he should have left after the first season but his pride.....deh a blessing and a curse.Chelsea ruined a lot of players....its something fishy there....Mutu Shevchenko Morata Lukaku Torres.....i cant believe they sold Tammy Abraham....they sell theyre own products ffs.....and nowadays they dont have a striker :))

@@visanion1361Mutu? Real? Torres came to CFC having had a knee injury and he didn’t recover from that. Lukaku was bad business and Morata was home sick. Had you mentioned JFHB, Gudjohnsen, Kezman I would have agreed. As for Tammy he dragged contract negotiations before Tuchel can and he simply didn’t fit in TT system on top of that Tammy will be known for wastefulness in front of goal and his hold up is horrendous.

as a former Milan fan I've been disappointed when Sheva has left the great AC Milan team of those years (Kaka, Inzaghi, Pirlo, Maldini, Seedorf, Shevchenko, Rui Costa, Cafu, Nesta...) ... I have heard the news from one of my high school colleagues of that time and I thought he was playing tricks on me, but then I have asked other people and indeed he had moved to Chelsea, which has been a club that I have liked, as well, back them. But still, Sheva leaving my lovely AC Milan team for Chelsea.... maan, have I been disappointed at the very least! Also, I have watched the goal against Spurs live (I mean, live on TV), and it's been one of those moments when you're watching TV totally mentally disconnected from the game (you hear and see everything but you can't acknowledge anything consciously) and then... 1 or 2 seconds before scoring I have suddenly reconnected to the game that I was watching only to "feel" that this was going to be a great goal. I have "seen" that goal with my 6th sense (or whatever the hell it is called) right before Sheva receiving the pass and then, when he has prepared to shoot I honestly KNEW it was going to be a goal, and a beautiful one, too. I can't explain how, but I just knew. Anyway... what a team Chelsea have had back then! It's nuts. I mean, Shevchenko, Drogba, Lampard, Essien, Ballack, Robben.... just WOW! Good old times when there has been no Messi-Penaldo hysteria all over the world, and when people have actually been able to recognize other talents, too. I miss those days like no one can even imagine :(

@@Chris-kz7us yes, former. I consider myself a football fan, not a football fanatic that ruins his life and starts fights with other people because of the clubs that I root for. When Milan have had a team I have been their fan because I had who to sustain with my emotional energy, but now, when I look at the current team I feel like I'm wasting my precious life and energy on something that doesn't repay me in any way. In conclusion, why should I continue being a Milan fan when Milan themselves (galliani, or whoever is in charge of the club) doesn't care enough about to club to bring it back to its glory days? Will they ever be able to bring talented players in (and god knows there's talented players being born every day all over the world), sure , I will root for them again and I'll become a fan again. But until then I have better things to do :)

Tbh i didn't realise he scored as much as 22 goals for Cfc. Yes he coulda been better but he was 30 when he came over from milan to the Premiership. Its faster and rougher than he was used too. Overall if he came 3 or 4 yrs earlier he would of been young enough too get used to it and adapt hes game. He was a genius in Italy.

Let's face it. He was a failed signing considering the amount of expectations and $ poured onto him. But it was still a great pleasure to see him in blue uniform and those were the best Chelsea days nonetheless.

Yes he did struggle at chelsea to adapt to the English style. Still world class goalscorer though, his stats prove this. Mateja Kezman another whom struggled. Had excellent stats some seasons scored more than he played!. Then came to chelsea and struggled.

Milan have gotten rid of an old player, have cashed in good money, Sheva has gotten more money by moving to Chelsea, Chelsea have also gotten a striker with pedigree who has actually delivered, and Abramovic has fulfilled his kid's dream of having Shevchenko play for Chelsea. @@Norce555 bad entourage. For Milan - which he has felt like home in - he has been a scoring machine. In London it's hard to adapt if you are a humble, sentimental guy like Sheva, so I don't blame him. Besides, I am pretty happy with what he's accomplished for Chelsea considering that he's been brought to the club because Abarmovic's son has had a blinding passion for this amazing striker, not because Chelsea have really needed a striker of his caliber.
