one of the GOATs as far as contemporary classical composition goes

Thank you, Neil!
The best
Out of this world!
Andrew, this is without a doubt the best thing I've ever heard anyone play on a guitar.
Why does this man have 5.6k subscribers instead of at least ten times more? He might be the best composer and guitar player alive today. Seriously, talent like this is not something common.
I found this song on spotify I don't even know how but I love it!
I've heard John Williams and several other virtuoso artists play Sunburst. But to my ears, no one comes even close to the beauty of Andrew York playing his own composition.

I think this is something we often miss in classical music - people paying their own original works. It is something that brings an added element of personal touch to the interpretation, and more musical freedom as there is less of a tradition behind how that piece should be played. Lizt, Bach, Giuliani, Mozart, and many more, they all did this too. Why should classical musicians not continue to do so?
My brother played this at his college graduation at university of Tennessee (Martin) in the late 90’s… He is an adjunct professor there now still teaching guitar. No doubt you were an inspiration in his glide path. And, I damn sure enjoy listening to you when I need to close my eyes and just hit that higher plane. This sir, is absolutely timeless.

Thank you very much for your beautiful message, Paul.
Heard this song back in school and just remembered it today at the end of college. Couldn't for the life of me remember the name and searched through my chats because I knew I'd recommended it to my friends back then. This piece still fills me up with pure joy and I think it's one of the supreme achievements of acoustic guitar. Bravo!

Thank you very much, Nikunj. I'm very happy to hear that you have an emotional connection to my music.
It's amazing how he goes from the calmness of 1:45 to breaking the laws of physics by playing the fast movements of 3:47
Wow! I'm speechless.
Andrew York is the best! So innovative with his composition.
After 10 years of listening sunburst I still enjoying it a lot. Just a masterpiece.

His volume/dynamics is so flawless
As a bassoonist, this makes me smile so very much. Thank you Andrew York!
Just relearned this after learning it in sophomore year of highschool (very sloppily) playing it through again felt like a warm hug from an old friend.

Enhorabuena Andrew.

Dear mr York, Andrew, Your playing went through my soul, one can only be silent during and afterwards this beautifull performance, bravo!
What an amazing piece of work. This song sounds equally incredible but so different on steel strings. This piece means a lot to me. Been playing it for 20 years, and it never gets redundant or less challenging. Thanks for writing it, Mr. York.

This is fabulous dear Andrew ! Technique out of the ordinary, and inspiration at its highest level. I have often listened to your fabulous composition, but I always discover in your musical phrases inventive gems. How can we put 106 dislikes on such a music ?👿 You are a lighthouse of the guitar, and I, in my little nut shell of amateur musician, am happy to guide my boat in this so beautiful artistic light. I wish you a wonderful weekend. Musical greetings, Phil 🎵👍

Just wow am in awe
What a thrill-ride of a piece.
It's been a while since a guitar piece has melted my face.
Love it - Great Performance - he makes a tuning adjustment at just after 3:30 - while playing - he must have noticed in earlier and thought ahead / waited for the moment to make the adjustment - not easy - especially while on camera like this - wow! Anyway - one of my favorites performances of this song - he seems pretty happy too at the end! cool!
Wow, what a mindblowing piece. This guy is a first rate composer! At 3:15 it sounds just like something Pat Metheny plays...I wonder if that is intentional or just a coincidence.
wonderfully uplifting..

Very nice - obviously at 3.17 this turns for a few bars into the very famous Phase Dance - Pat Metheny's signature tune since 1977. Nice to see great guitarists paying tribute to other great guitarists!
