Yes! It's one of the actors you feel he puts something beyond just the acting. Every time I see one of his performances, I think he "just gets the character", like he understands them in a very real way, so it never feels he's acting on screen (if that ever makes sense).

What he said about the Priest and Fleabag not needing to know each other's backstories to form a genuine connection, or even the audience being able to connect with the Priest without knowing his story either.... blew me away. It's comforting to know that he's aware of the Priest's impact that's not relevant to his hot looks.

Totally agree with this. I really 'got' the meaning of so much of Hamlet for the first time just from the way Andrew spoke the words. It is like he translated them into the modern way of understanding. I really understood the 'to be or not to be' monologue in a way I never had before. He is a truly incredible performer.

I have Pride listed as one of my favourite movies ever and get a lot of flack for that because there's not anything particularly groundbreaking about it. No flashy cinematography, no method actors losing themselves physically and emotionally in a role, no amazing monologues that have millions of views on KZread, but, everything is done perfectly. The script is expertly written, the cast acts their parts perfectly, the direction is assured and confident, and each story beat hits where it's supposed to hit. I've seen that film 25x easily, and I'll easily watch it 25 more.

I saw him in Sherlock and immediately loved his work. He played the character of Moriarty so well, it was terrifying but also very fascinating.

"PRIDE" definitely was an amazing film, and Andrew Scott remains a memorable actor from that film. I also think he is intelligent, yet scary, as Moriarty in SHERLOCK. I think he makes the character real, whereas in the stories, Moriarty does sound more cartoon-ish.

13:45 I once got tapped to play Hamlet in a ragtag production that didn't happen. It did go on long enough for me to actually dig into the character enough to see what I would do instad of how I would imitate. The show never happened and I never played Hamlet, but to this day, I maintain that that brief dabble has impacted the rest of my life. I wholeheartedly agree, no matter who or when you are, give it a go if the only reason not is anxiety.

I stood next to him at the tube station for 5 minutes with nobody else around. He was wearing just a vest and very short shorts, retro gym style! I couldn’t muster up the courage to say hello and ask for a photo with him. As soon as he got on the tube a couple immediately started bombarding him. He was very gracious and I quietly kicked myself for being ‘too polite’ to invade his privacy. He was quite the sight for sore eyes ❤

I first saw him on Sherlock as Moriarty and he gave my favorite portrayal of that character. Then I saw him in Fleabag (yes, a very sexy priest!) and His Dark Materials, plus a clip of him onstage as Hamlet. Excellent actor and wonderful voice too.
