McCabe started working at the FBI in 1996 and served in many capacities, from street agent on the Eurasian Organized Crime Task Force to leading the Counterterrorism Division, the National Security Branch, and the Washington Field Office as well as serving as the first director of the High-Value Detainee Interrogation Group. Yet that estimable career came to a sudden end when Trump fired McCabe on March 16, 2018. In this book McCabe refutes Trump’s assertion that the firing was “A great day for Democracy.” In fact, as McCabe shows, Trump’s action was just the opposite. Giving a detailed insider’s view of the FBI, McCabe charts the Bureau’s last twenty years, during which time its most important task became protecting the country from terrorists-though now perhaps the major threat to Constitutional rights is the Trump administration itself.

He began his career at the FBI in 1996, working first as a street agent on the Eurasian Organized Crime Task Force, and eventually as its supervisor. Later, he led the FBI's Counterterrorism Division, the National Security Branch, and the Washington Field Office, and was the first director of the High-Value Detainee Interrogation Group, which developed new methods for lawfully and effectively questioning suspected terrorists. He lives in Virginia with his wife Jill, their two children and a dog.

fabulous book by a patriotic American. Honest, respectable, Fearless, and loves his job protecting Americans and democracy. This guy is a hero.
My Father was an FBI Special Agent, and he Adored* ‘The Bureau’. He said to me, “ Everyday, when I am driving to work, I am thinking about my cases, and I can’t wait to get there! “ He was always determined to get the right criminal, he explained that many people would confess to crimes that they hadn’t committed. He felt it was important to ‘never lie’ during an interrogation. He loved going to Quantico, also! He was an extremely fair man, and the person who was invaluable if you needed him. He didn’t approve of ‘Quotas’ at all, he didn’t believe in ‘creating crime’! I wish that he were alive today. [ *What does the FBI put in their water-coolers? Just joking, because I cannot explain how much my Father loved the Bureau! Hence McCabe’s declaration of love was something I shared with my Mother, and my siblings! ]
I truly respect Mr. McCabe and thank him for all he has done and is doing...just a side note; the woman doing the sign language really has a difficult job to sit there for over an hour and a half translating... I seriously give my kudos to her and her stamina:).

McCabe is a real patriot and a hero! Respect.
McCabe should get his retirement benefit back. It is so unfair to deprive a dedicated public servant of his earned benefits.

+Fan -- when there is a petty egomaniac in the White House and he has his "enemies list" people like Andy McCabe are not safe. I wish him well and I am confident that in the future he will be compensated for his intelligence and dedication.
It's a shame that a guy, who wouldn't qualify for the lowest ranks of the FBI, can work himself up to a position wherein he can fire it's (deputy)director.

I salute McCabe for saying it's possible that Trump is a Russia asset. What a disgrace.

This is a guy who is in a great deal of legal trouble due to his actions at the FBI. I'm glad that I was able to listen to this and get his perspective.

Mike he is not in legal trouble. He his challenging is dismissal in the courts - he may win or not, but no significant legal trouble for him.
Through all his interviews, this is the first question I've heard addressing Comey's publicity of Clinton's innocuous e-mails. I wish he'd answered it.

They may have an open investigation for all we know. They would not tell us if they have.
I think the FBI is an essential and mostly honest group of dedicated people. However it is important to study history to error and pitfalls of the past to guide actions of the future. At inception te FBI was ruled by Mr. Hoover who was an extremely political, gay, cross dresser who manufactured crimes to gain political advantage. He had a safe filled with incriminating evidence against the rich and powerful who he used to gain that advantage and upon his death that safe was immediately carted away and sequestered. That safe and all the effort expended to collect that information belonged to the American people. Secrecy is the friend of tyranny. Recently Mr. Mueller was part of the ENRON CORP. task force. He was successful in obtaining very light convictions that were mostly overturned on a very small handful of the felons from the worst fraud in the history of mankind. Hundreds perhaps thousands of major criminal got away, free. Why was there no investigation of how Mr. Lay got his job in 1985? Why no investigation of Azurix, TAPI, Maharastra power and dozens of other crimes. Could it be that there was a direct connection with the White House? The more things change the more they stay the same.

It's astounding that anyone with even a shred of intelligence might support DJT, if one never listens to anyone but the president himself it's fairly obvious how often his own words change. From day to day what he says evolves to fit his own idea of what he wants those who hear him speak to believe. "No collusion" is his constant and yet it's not an actual charge, he might have had Putin on speed dial and "no collusion" could be claimed. It's as if he's SO stupid and his choices are SO compromising it's difficult not to question if he's actually the moron he appears to be or might it be an act. How could anyone who is able to walk upright not understand he would experience considerably less problems if he himself stopped talking.
From the title, I assume it's an autobiography.

I found him to be passionate, earnest, straightforward, and very interesting. His whale bone corset simile was certainly no cliche.
