The trombonist besides the horn player that is laughing at the blacksmith (0:35) actually came to visit my elementary school one time. He was one of the funniest musicians ive ever met. The funniest thing is that the composer Josef Strauss (brother of Johann Strauss Jr, The King of Waltz) intended this piece to be played like this with an anvil accompanying the orchestra, now imagine the original premiere of this piece back in the day.

You are absolutely right, this video is from 1996 and is a TV recording of a concert, it has been rehearsed to perfection of what was then humor novelty was presented by Andre Rieu and his Johan Strauss orchestra. In 1995 his big breakthrough nationally and internationally followed quickly, he has more often introduced antics in the performance of musical pieces to make classical more light and reach a larger audience to let his music be heard.
