I love Andre! Dutch folk music is sadly underestemated....

Even now after so many years. When you're in The Netherlands, visit a pub, ask them (especialy late at night) to play one of Hazes' songs, and experience what happens with the crowd. They will all sing along.

North , east , south ,west doesn't matter Hazes is known and liked everywhere. Sure they won't play Hazes all night long but once in a while that it comes up everyone knows who he is :D

Imagine having 15 million residents in holland in 2000 and approx 5 million people watched this tribute live on television + 55000 live at the stadium :O thats comparible with Elvis, Prinses Diana or other greats. His music is still a medicine against the struggle of life for a lot of people today, we miss you Andre !!!!!

The secret of Andre Hazes is that he was just a regular bloke. Not a great looker or a glittering showbiz personality. But he had that Voice and a remarkable talent for writing "simple" lyrics that speak to the heart.

andre hazes. i think there is not 1 soul in the netherlands that never heared of him or his music. even if you didnt like his music or him.. you know who he was and what music he made. very emotional and very fitting farewell to a dutch people legend.

Even MJ had not such a beautiful ceremony. This was really a farewell from the folk for the folk singer who touched our hearts for so many years. I remember this as if it was yesterday. The streets were empty that day. Everyone had the tv on watching this.

In the 1970's I walked on to the Leidseplein [Leiden Square] in Amsterdam when there was a small neighbourhood festival going on. A young chubby guy with a microphone stood on a table belting his heart out. The type of music (overly dramatic songs of hope and sadness, sung in Dutch) did not appeal to me, myself being more into English pop, rock and alternative music. But his energy and conviction in his singing was striking. Later I heard about an upcoming Dutch singer André Hazes, and I recognised him as the young man singing so touching. And I understood why he was getting so much attention and started to become a real star. During his further life I saw how many people found solace and life-inspiration in his songs. I too get shivers when the chorus sings "Zij gelooft in mij." ("She believes in me"). Besides this whole stadium many more people were experiencing this tribute, watching live at home. It was a national event.

André Hazes to us is one of the things that unites our people, Its part of our culture and our struggle/mentality.

Andre Hazes is the biggest singer from Holland ever period dude. None of us has grown up without his music. You should check out way more of his original music. You will love it. Blessings from Holland

I go to his tribute concert every year. He was the greatest.

André Hazes was and still is the greatest and biggest Dutch Folks Singer in the Netherlands who sadly past away on Septhember 23 in 2004. His songs was about life, lost loves, broken hearts and more like that. Something we all have experienced in life. Its the way he sings, his voice, the emotion in his numbers is what touch so many people. There was something special in his voice a lot of singers don't have especially in the Netherlands. I was there in the now called Johan Cruijff Arena at that time (its the stadium of the famous Dutch Football Club Ajax Amsterdam), and it was something i never forget my whole life anymore. I never had that much goosebumps in my life anymore since that evening. He is still the only singer in the Netherlands who had a farewell in a full football stadium. This song "She believes in me" (the original was from Kenny Rogers but André Hazes sang it in Dutch) was one of his most emotional songs. His heart was the Blues but he mixed it with the Dutch song of life. Sadly enough André Hazes became deaf and sick and after that it was done. We will always remember him and play his songs and sing along with it...!

He was a man with many pains in his soul trying to drink away its pain in songs he explains his feeling and thoughs thats why al lot of people can relate to it even without the alcoholic part

Late reaction... But sill. This was held in the Amsterdam Arena, Andre's favorite soccer club: Ajax' stadium. It holds over 54,000 people and this farewell gala was sold out in mere seconds. And I can assure you, each and every one of those 54,000+ people was able to sing along the entire evening. Respect for your channel. Someone recommended it to me. Loving the content! I wasn't there but I watched it on television. I get goosebumps again watching this. His wife, son, daughter, family and fans were there with his coffin in the middle of the soccer stadium. So many people were there to say goodbuy to Andre Hazes. He got the funeral of a king. Very impressive.

Many more were watching it via live broadcast all throughout the nation, everyone being emotionally present in the moment. After all... you couldn't fit 15+ milion people in one football (soccer) stadium.

@Woesie Woesie I don't deny it's a good number. It's often the case that more watch it than they can measure, which is logical. Also who cares about divas that kick a ball around but can't even play a decent game for the money? Sports is definitely a more divided subject in my opinion, because I am not interested in anything but Formula 1 racing. Which will be off of the air here next year, which for me is another reason to cancel the TV subscription.

@Woesie Woesie Stuttering internet? If you go into a the Windows powershell environment with administrative rights and type "ping google.nl -t" and get a stable ping time in milliseconds, it's not your connection. In that case you should look into your computer performance. Is Windows installed on an SSD, when in "My Computer" is the C drive capacity NOT in the red? Also do you have enough computer memory left... go into "CTRL+ALT+DEL" to open the taskmanager and click advanced on the bottom left. Then click on the performance tab up top. Now if the memory usage is nearly full when browsing, this could be your issue. As the memory is full it will start to swap with the harddrive or SSD and that's causing lag and stuttering.

This man is our hero. His songs touched every one off us here in the Netherlands. Every song he song whas something out off his life and ous. Andre whas found as a young kid on a marketplace standing on a chest singing. Then he whas found by Hans kraai Jr (famous and also just like Andre a legend). I still got tears in my eyes when I see this video. It's bin a long time I have seen this. His songs are still number one for us. Love your reaction on this one. He is our hero.

Ok, you might likes his music, but just wonder who is " we". I don't like his music and on top of that he was an alcoholic who messed up the life of his wife and children. He wasn't a nice man.

There has never been an artist or king in the Netherlands who, after passing away, received so many people on the street and in the Arena at a funeral.

Normal I listen only to oldskool rave hardcore and hardrock and metal music but Andre hazes….. you can’t get around ‘m. Great artist. Dutch heritage. Almost in tears again. Did see the entire tribute. It was spectacular.

Just saw this while watching another vid of you, I didn't get the notif 🙁 This was all so emotional. But Andre deserved this.

He was the greatest singer of the Netherlands that's why there where a lot of peaple are there

Within a few hours that is was known they were gonna do a tribute to him in the arena it was full, many more wanted to come but couldnt. Till this day and many years from now his songs are still played in bars/concerts/ tributes and when the crowd hears his songs everybody starts singing. ( Obviously not during Covid time but u get my drift 😉 ). This man had/has a nation behind him, and many people outside that nation love his music too, its insane but awesome!

Thanks for this. I watched the complete last farewell that day. Could not stop crying. This video brings it all back. and there were more singers and bands to pay a tribute during that ceremony . André Hazes sr was the greatest folksinger of our country ever. His songs are right from the heart and into the heart from many many people. No matter what other music they like. He touched you. You are absolutely right. Usually I don’t like Dutch folkmusic, except for Andre Hazes sr. He was at another level.

you also listen to andre hazes afscheid with danny de munk and marianne weber ,adieu andre, its amazing.very emotionel to for the singers.evrybody loved andre hazes and his music,old ,young people already for 40 years ,even the children now listen to his music,it will never stopt.

Het is met 55.500 plaatsen het grootste voetbalstadion van Nederland. Voor concerten is de maximale capaciteit 71.000 bezoekers. De arena....nu heet het de Johan Cruijff stadion. Andre Hazes sr was de allerbeste volkszanger van Nederland!

All I want to say is... When someone has had a lot of meaning for many Dutch people. This is how we in The Netherlands express our love and appreciation for the person who's no longer among us, but whom we'll never forget... but always remember 💖

I remember it like it was yesterday.. I wanted to go and just pick up my son from school without permission.. He loved!!!!! Andre Hazes.. (like almost everybody) He was a teenager at the time and I could tell his mood by wich Andre Hazes song I heard from upstairs.. When he went out and heard a Andre Hazes song (The kyte) he would sent me a little sound fragment.. (I have a letter for my mother, who's high up in heaven...) There even is a cd of this farewell. Of course we have it.. I still get emotional watching this..

I am only 19 and almost every Day i listen to some of his songs, because they are the best

Went to list last concert. As a big fan it shocked me when he died. The day he died I wore an andre hazes t-shirt and played his music out loud at work. The memorial, could't make it. So with a few close friends sitting at home, tv on full volume, beers and tears

This was amazing and still give me goosebumps.. it was live on TV and will never forget.. 😁

Andre Hazes his music is from 1977. Later on he got more known and his music was huge at our bars. It still is. This means that so many generations know at least 3-4 songs. Hazes his genre was songs about life. The ups and the downs. It is typical bar music here in the Netherlands. And to be honest there is no other country in the world where the bars are that warm, comfy and welcome as here with us. So yes Hazes had earned this tribute. And yes his songs are still being played at the bars. Hazes is our legend…

Well, not needed, but let me add some: In total there was room for 50,000 visitors in the ArenA. The people who couldn't get a seat stood outside the stadium around large screens showing the farewells. The tribute was also broadcast live on TV and Radio. Radio I don't know, but 5.047,000 people watched the broadcast live on TV.

It's funny, i know this song from start to end, but seeing the live version and you reacting to it, it brings a tear to my eyes even though normally i don't get emotional by it anymore. I was there….very emotional

He was the greatest singer from the netherlands. Andre Hazes, you have to do a video of him. His funeral was in the Johan Cruijff arena. Back then the name of the stadium was Amsterdam Arena. the home stadium of Ajax Amsterdam the football club. there were 70.000 People in the stadium.

You have to watch the last few seconds also the hole crowd starts singing on its own

i never forget this night ,i was in phuket (thailand) when andre hazes died,i wanna go there to but it was not possible
