    Thanks for sharing guys!! Sorry about the cousins hard time with that restaurant....the Labor Laws that cover employment in Bohol can be found in The Labor Code of the Philippines...and where that restaurant is located the minimum wage is Php 397.00 (this is found in Department of Labor and Employment: National Wages and Productivity Commission). I know many places there choose not to follow the Labor Laws, but with a quick phone call to the Department of Labor I bet the owner of that restaurant would be forced to change his ways....just a thought. ...thoughts, prayers & good vibes 🐰🇵🇭 ingats lagi po 🍓

    I’ve come to realize that a lot of employers in the Philippines 🇵🇭 give false hopes to their own people…not to mention the requirements of a resume, full of the highest qualifications, just to work on restaurant. That’s deplorable, then they under pay 💰 the people. That is exploitation and the reason for most people not being able to have a decent life…sad but true!

    You are both absolutely right, the restaurant owner shouldn't have kept them hanging for two weeks, I am glad you spoke to him Andre, it is his loss. If they don't want to employ the kids to work through their holidays then just say no right at the start. The little puppy looks cute (but sad) is she feeling unwell or just missing her mum she is very small? If her fleas and ticks have been killed via injection or nexguard tablet, could it be that she has worms or internal parasites? I don't blame you for bringing her home if she followed you or would get run over, I would do the same. Burgers looked great!

    I heard that business owners, companys not necessarily a waitress job but more skill based jobs, plumbers, brick layers, electricians ect used to train and give out apprenticeships, but now not so much because that person then takes that skill elsewhere and some lose money because of this or that person can end up working for a rival of course i belive that these kinks can be worked out and i would be surprised if this is a problem a Philippines business person would say i am just mentioning what i have heard and believe is a big problem all over from what i have heard. I also heard you need a degree just to get a behind the counter job in the Philippines so it does not surprise me that with such a big workforce to hire and fire and pay low wages they have no standards and treat people badly i wish i could give some constructive advice on what needs to be done like join a union but thats not going to happen but maybe in time situations like the one you have will improve i hope for all badly treated people everywhere and so sorry to hear your work issues

    Hi guys i love your channel. I say this with so much respect for you both. However Andre please remember this is a major cultural issue in so many ways...i am an American married to a Filipina and have struggled as well with these type of cultural differences. To make a long story short the main concern is please be careful as a foreigner...we live under different rules and laws than the filipinos. Confronting a business owner in public can be misconceived and the law and police will almost always go against you in these situations. I agree with you 100% and respect your willingness to stand up but please pick your fights...my wife always reminds me that unlike in western cultures we as foreigners in the filipines dont have the same rights even if the law says so on paper...she reminds me that it is quite easy to get banned from the Philippines as a foreigner and how detrimental it would be for me and my family if i couldn't live there with them... again love you guys!

    Yeah you are right I know… it was not that I was shouting or touched him. But I just thought it would be just fair to speak up for the girls and say what they are thinking but the girls are to young to speak for themselves. And I think if no one gives feedback to him he will always think he is right what he is doing. I mean I don’t think he will changes but at least someone said what needs to be said 😅 But I agree for foreigners is not that easy here sometimes…

    @MikeHatfield-dh5rs I think these videos are just as important to share as all the laughs and good times. Although it shows a side of Andre we aren't used to, it also shows he is human and will indeed share their real life with us for better or worse, which is what he promised from the beginning. Even though some may find it disturbing I find it refreshing that he posts "real life" videos as well as the "feel good" ones. On another note Andre is German, so up shore under the right circumstances he could get very loud while slamming the table haha.

This is happening all over the world, maybe even worse, when they work and don't get paid. I would give some of my money to the girls on this site. And perhaps consoled them that they would have better luck next time.

    If I had to guess I would say he was desperate for help so he said yes, then people with more experience applied so he hired them and moved the girls to the back burner as standby in case the others didn't work out. The experienced people worked out so he told them no job. Not very nice and also his loss, if you look at the video where they make the hamburders the girls did a fine job of prepping the food they ate.

    Speaking out will get you nowhere fast! The culture of saving face is extremely strong in Philippines. Learn this quickly or you are in for trouble in the future. People are killed there for causing someone to lose face especially in public. Learn your place.

  • @ejtaylor73
    @ejtaylor7311 ай бұрын

    He wasn't "lying", he was trying to save face. Which in my opinion is nothing more than LYING to not be held accountable for ones actions. You need to realize, things don't always work there as they do in your country. The restaurant owner was correct about one thing, when someone applies for a job, if they don't get called back it means they didn't get the job. He was however wrong to string the young ladies along making them think they got the job when they didn't, he should have just been upfront and said so. That's also a problem with a non-confrontational, always wanting to be positive and cheerful culture, no one is held accountable for their mistakes. If a person isn't held accountable and told they made a mistake, they're not going to learn from it so they don't continue making it. You should know most places there want a UNIVERSITY degree to hire someone, even a cashier at Jolibee's needs one. Printing out the resume isn't the problem, that's how most of the world works, but if the owner knows they want a university degree, they can look over the resume and see if that person has one, if they don't they can tell them they don't meet the qualifications and give them the resume back right then. The lower pay in a restaurant is because they expect the waitresses to receive tips to make up the difference. Foreigners do NOT own businesses there, they're not allowed to. They can be a business partner, but the business must be at least 51% Filipino owned, meaning the foreigner does NOT OWN the business, just as you can't work or own land there either. With the new law there, if a Filipino can do the job, you HAVE to hire a Filipino. NEVER go into business with ANYONE that isn't your WIFE, but again, SHE owns the business NOT you. It's the same in the U.S., every where wants some one with like 3-5 years experience or a university degree, but people can't get the experience because no place will hire them to get that experience or they spent those 4 years in university getting the degree instead of job experience. Training costs money that businesses aren't willing to invest in someone who hasn't proven themselves. I think your example of hiring untrained maids is a bad one, compared to a waitress at a restaurant. The maids most likely aren't coming into contact with the occupants or if they do it is a more relaxed environment for them to learn in. But in a restaurant they WILL be coming into contact with the customers and they expect good service, which they may not get with a trainee in a fast paced environment, HUGE difference there. Me personally, I wouldn't care, if I'm told the person is a trainee, I wouldn't expect them to do everything perfectly, if they're putting in effort to learn, that's what's important.

  • @thecrownsvlog

    Hey thank you so much for your long message, mostly I agree with you :-) Interesting to read as well. But one thing I need to say about the example "Maid". I used the word "maid" just because it was the first example what came up in mind, but I can replace it also with "waitress" and my opinion wouldn't change because it doesnt matter what you are doing, you need to learn it first. Even service and how you act in front of costumers is something you need to learn. But when no one teaches the young people here how to do their jobs, then there will never be trained people :-) As a correction: If I would have a restaurant here, instead of hiring a "trained Person" I would prefer to choose a young person without experiences and let the person grow in my restaurant and teach everything what the trainee needs to know :-) reason 1: you have an employee who is motivated because that person get a chance. 2nd: the person is not influenced from previous job, that means you can make your exceptions clear and it´s easier to train the person the way you want it. 3rd: the relationship between you and the trainee grows together and it will have a good influence for the cooperation in future. and the final reason: if that worker is fully trained and maybe you give him/her a higher salary after training, he or she is a great example and inspiration for new trainees in future :-) I just wanted to share my thoughts but like I said I agree with you :-) Sorry for my English 😂 Greetings Andre

    I understand your reasoning, but now foreigners can own certain types of businesses in the Philippines through OPC. I also understand as a developing nation things are changing fast their. However, the reality of it is, for the most part retiring expats are heading to the Philippines in droves because they are sick of what is going on at home ans want a simpler laid back life that was available at home 30 years ago. Those people generally hold different moral values than the younger generation and would not appreciate what this man did. myself included. I was brought up learning if you give someone and honest days work, in turn they will give you and honest days pay. I for one will never visit this mans establishment for any reason after hearing this and I am sure I am not the only one. Point is, if thats part of your business plan, it probably wont go well if your target market is older Americans with money.
