Most certainly - he was an incredibly generous and selfless teacher, and it was truly an honor to receive his care.

I definitely miss him. I heard him live several times and the pleasure of interviewing him and interacting with him on several occasions. He was my hero as well.❤

I have seen Beethoven's 5th Piano Concerto, The Emperor, numerous times. When Andre Watts played it, I was literally overcome with emotions and nearly wept when the 2nd movement started. His power and elegance are unparalleled, pure beauty! I've scoured the internet looking for a recording of it to no avail but I enjoy anything he plays, including this!
I've always associated Watts with romantic composers like Rachmaninoff. Really nice to see him play Mozart. Thanks for posting.

Glorious performance! So much beauty, emotion and wonderful light and shade, and sparkling dexterity - sadly marred by intrusive applause between movemens. Thanks for uploading!

In this occasion, André DESERVED those intrusive applauses because I sense this particular audience was not attuned to concert practice, concert convention be damned, he was electricity! ♥

There’s a live performance of the Shostakovich #1 around 1989

PLEASE help me to find BOTH Rach concerto #3 live and Shostakovich #1 live performed by Andre Watts.

As far as I know, there isn’t a live Rach 3. Although he performed Rach 2 frequently, he never made a studio recording of it. Always thought that was strange.

Hello Dan, thank you for the last two Andre Watts uploads! By any chance do you have any other recordings (audio or video) of other pieces?

Hello! I remember there used to be a full video recording of him playing the Emperor, but it's currently nowhere to be found... I'll do more deep digging, but in the meantime, I hope others will come out of the woodwork to post in remembrance!

The video I used to watch was him playing Shostakovich piano concerto #1. It’s nowhere to be found anymore. He’s an underrated contemporary music performer. He brought out the great elements of that Shostakovich concerto that I don’t hear or see from other performers

Just loved the contrasts he brought to the music, especially in the slow movement, and his highlighting the hidden melodic lines. RIP, beloved Maestro. PS: BIG THANKS for sharing this wonderful video. ❤❤😂❤❤❤
