Symphony No. 2 in G minor, Op. 23 (1918)
I. Adagio-Widmung - Allegro appassionato [0:00]
II. Adagio [12:18]
III. Scherzo: Presto [24:07]
IV. Molto allegro e risoluto [31:46]
A symphony by the Spanish Basque composer Andrés Isasi y Linares (1890-1940). Isasi studied composition with Karl Kampf and Engelbert Humperdinck in Berlin, but when he returned to his hometown of Bilbao in 1914, his Germanic musical idiom received a cool reception. He soon retreated to his family home in Algorta, where Isasi composed in relative seclusion. Perhaps his most successful composition was the Second Symphony in G minor, which was performed in Budapest in 1931.

A wonderful symphony !
P.S. The variations to "Muss i denn zum Staedtele hinaus" are priceless!!!
Rich, lovely and wonderful! How sad he must have been about not being recognized in his own time. I'll gladly add him to my Collection of Favorites ~ and applaud his work post hum ;o) Wonderful selection of pictures as well ~ thank you!
Yes indeed!
Some beautiful work with melody here.
Nice work
Thank you for the correction. I couldn't find a source to confirm what you said, but I'll take your word for it. The Naxos recording notes are rather thin.
Delightful
