Andor might be the most fun show to analyze.
WE"RE REACTING TO ANDOR FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME!
In an era filled with danger, deception, and intrigue, Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a Rebel hero.
About Star Wars Andor:
Andor, also known as Star Wars: Andor, is an American science fiction television series created by Tony Gilroy for the streaming service Disney+.
Beginning five years before the events of Rogue One (2016) and A New Hope (1977), the series follows an ensemble cast of characters during the time that a Rebel Alliance is forming in opposition to the Galactic Empire. One of these characters is Cassian Andor, a thief who becomes a revolutionary and eventually joins the Rebellion.
Andor was a vital part of Rogue One, the team that ultimately succeeded in obtaining the Death Star plans from the Imperial facility and uploading them to the Rebel Alliance. He and every member of Rogue One gave their lives to save billions of others.

What do you make of the Senator and her husbando? If we can call him that.

Indeed, that is Senator Mon Mothna's husband. As you have already deduced, he isn't the greatest husband and both are not in the greatest marriage.

Mon Mothma was just a background character in the old trilogy and in the prequels, but now we get to know some of her backstory and I love that for her. Yep, Perrin is her husband, and I sure feel like a multitude of slaps and punches in the teeth would suit him really well.

He's an out-of-touch, self-centered, egotist. He clearly dislikes his wife, presumibly for the fact that she's always nosing around other people's buisness. Always causing a stir in the Senate, which by this point, is more of a charade for the masses to deceive them into thinking they still have a say in the running of the government. All he's worried about is: "Will my friends enjoy the menù at the party?" A classic example of the ruling class being purposely distracted to encourage complacency and support for the status quo. All tyrants need to secure the support of key figures within a society, weather it be social, political, industrial, financial or judicial.

But what did you think of that crystal. A serious easter egg to the very very very old republic..
You might not have liked the way the chief inspector was handling the two slain corporate enforcers, but THIS was why he kept telling Carn to drop it. He knew that the Empire was using any excuse to justify them seizing control and consolidating more and more power for itself. The corporate security force may not have been terribly effective as police, but at least they weren't hanging people in city squares and blasting cities in to glass ruins from orbit.

There's also the plainly spoken but unheard "those two were scumbags and aren't worth the trouble this is going to cause. You don't care about them you just want to be a big man, Cyril." It's loaded stuff.
With all you had to say about that single scene between Mon Mothma and her husband Perrin...the reason you can say so much is because the scene and dialog is just _so damned good._ This series carries such an amazing amount of story through dialog, so thrilling even without pew-pew, boom-boom. Partagaz told Dedra "no," and he chewed her out, but he also told her she was high caliber and he was confident she could perform according to his high expectations for her. Good manager.
The Andor logo is so clever imo, it's the rebel symbol combined with a sun rising on a planet, literally the dawn of the rebellion ❤️
You're not overanalyzing btw. Andor's writing is so dense and packed to the brim. 14 lines of dialogue and you can tell decades of a marriage. Can't wait for you to see the next one.
I love your backstory for Mon Mothma's husband! I think you are right. He is disenchanted, unsatysfied and passive agressive.
Here we go! Dedra Meero is my favorite charecter in the show. So refreshing to see an Imperial villain who's not a bumbling fool who is easily provoked and underestemates his enemies whilst being presented as arrogant and overly-cruel to the point of ridicule.

@@alessiocapone9816 I'll agree that there are no weak characters in this show. It's easy to respect Meera, for sure, sinceshe's such a great character. I just, as a matter of personal preference, enjoy Luthen more, but it's like saying you prefer red to blue. You are entitled to like her, and don't owe anybody an explanation why. I was just adding to the list of great characters, no shade intended on your choices.

"Blue Kyber. Sky Stone. Celebrates the Uprising against the Rakatan Invaders..." Deep cut for those who played KOTOR.
18:07 it actually was filmed on location in Scotland. Great reaction! You’re going to love this show. It keeps getting better and better
Don't you have the impression that we are in the middle of a chess game with this show? In a figurative way.
Mon Mothma first appeared in *Return of the Jedi (1983)* where she has the famous line "Many Bothans died to bring us this information." She had deleted scenes (with this actress) in *Revenge of the Sith (2005)* and she reprised her role in *Rogue One (2016).* In Return of the Jedi, she is the leader of the Rebel Alliance.
This Aldhani arc is so intricate and tense. One of the highlights of a terrific season. And the husband is such a whiny fop, "Did you buy me a present?"
Your emotional intelligence is perfect for analyzing the superb character-driven plot of shows like this. ❤
Yes it is Scotland.😊 Right near me. I've literally dreamt about tie fighters and xwings flying through those exact valleys while driving through there since I was little. I could have never imagined I'd see it one day!!!

Admiring someone doesn’t always have to mean their literal life. It could be their poise, grace and wit you can aspire to be.
Another great reaction in the books. Lots of new faces as we embark on the next arc. We also see the downfall of Syril ,from losing his job/residence to going back to live with his mom, with his tail between his legs. We get to see a side of the Empire we haven't seen, with the meeting and Dedra, who also might be a Capricorn 😂😂. I'm looking forward to the next episode 😊
the cast of this show is so effing great!
And on top of everything it goes *really* deep into lore - the crystal Cassian gets is from the struggle against the Rakatan Empire - and this was already ancient history by the time of "Knights of the Old Republic"... How I love those little lore nuggets...^^ Best regards Raoul G. Kunz
Finally! Cant to hear you to get into the minds of so many new rich characters
I stand by my last comment episode ago: love your analysis, and this show isgood enough not to falter under your magnifying glass.
best sw thing ever. btw the "woman" is Mon Mothma, imperial senator who will become the foundator and leader of the Rebel Alliance, she was in R1 and OT.
This show is just incredible. We could never have imagined a Star Wars story told with such artistry and class.
Love your TAKES! Tony Gilroy's writing is impeccable. ✌️
Just found the channel. I love Andor. The show is amazing. Seeing that you do blind playthroughs, I'd like to throw Subnautica in the hat. If you haven't played it before, the game is incredible.
Love this show so much.
Cyril's. Mother's house was filmed in London, it's a brutalist housing estate near the Barbican
Absolutely loving your reactions to this series, they are such a delight to watch! You are so insightful and funny and WILDLY quick with astonishingly accurate assessments of characters after only a few seconds of screentime. My fellow Andor fan friends and I pass your reactions around each week with great delight!
Dedra is actually wrong though. We know why the Starpath unit was stolen - Cassian needed money. There isn't a unified Rebel Alliance, at this point, the Rebels don't really cone together until Rogue One. There's a bunch of disunited people like Andor, Saw Gurrera and Luthen who hate the Empire but have no uniting cause cause.
More Star Wars fun thanks Kim.💞💞
My lady Dedra!
ANDOR THE BEST
Oh, never noticed! He said fighting these bastards!
Its not that the imperial officer is 'calling her out' for being untrained as she thinks, its the fact that its his sector, not hers. He was placed 8n charge of ferrix like Mexican cartels are put in control of different plazas at the border.. She thrn brings up the stolen stsr path unit and says it actually does become my job too. It doesnt mean he looks down upon her for not having the experience. Its the way she came in, asking for information that under normal circumstances has NOTHING to do with her jurisdiction. Yes, now it does. But its the way she went about it. She could have at least asked someone who's clearly her surperior (at least for the ferrix district) in a more friendly way. Would you go up to your team lead and say "GIVE ME THTH FKlNG FILE CHRISTINE" or do you think she'd respond better if you treated her with respect snd said "gey Christine, since we found thisnstsr path unit that was stolen from my district on ferrix, can I see the file since its technically now also under my jurisdiction? I know I wouldn't let another employee speak to me like that, especially when it has to do with my job and im the one leading thst dept... Male or female.
Those 200,000 credits are the karrot at the end of a long stick.
Great reaction. Luthen is a fascinating character… you are right to point out that the other members of the team don’t know about him. And this is actually really very dangerous for Cassian. Luthen is utterly ruthless. It’s a mistake to think that Luthen is out to recruit Cassian for the Rebellion generally at this point. Luthen is a master manipulator, and he’s desperate for this heist to work. If Cassian survives the heist and meets Luthen again, he’s more likely to get a blaster bolt in the head than a payment of 200,000 credits. Can’t wait for you to see what happens next . And yes, Perrin (Mon Mothma’s socialite husband) is loathsome and young rebel Nemik is adorable. And you have to just love Cassian’s furious expression in these episodes. Talk about defensive!
Buckle up, it’s going to get CRAZY good
very good as usual. thanks. i take it you didn't recognize mon mothma. we see her as sort of head of rebel alliance in rogue one and return of the jedi. and andor show logo is variation of rebel alliance logo , basically show is about creation of rebel alliance, same time as cassian joins the rebellion.
Mommy Yennefer Mearo has joined the show...lesgoooooooo :)
About my comment on cartoon-style villains: Tarkin is an exception. Just look at his canon backstory in the novel! The book masterfully shows how someone isen't just born evil, he is turned into a monster by circumstances and his upbringing. The book's author is called James Luceno, by the way if you want to read it.
It’s easy to root for Dedra…and then you remember she is ISB 😉
This Show is Awesome just like yourself 🎼✨Hope you’re enjoying it 🧡💫Have a Nice Day ❣️

This was where the show really grabbed me. The first three episodes all felt like one big teaser to get things moving, and then when it branched out into other parts of the galaxy, and brought in new characters, I was blown away. Don't get me wrong, I was already impressed by the dialogue. But it jumped another level in richness and intelligence in this episode. I could already see the set and costume design was good, but now we got to see new flavors of the Star Wars universe, done in such a grounded, realistic way. Things like an apartment complex where Syril's mom lives...it's so simple, but we've never seen those "normal" things in Star Wars before. And the introduction of the characters, Mon Mothma, Dedra Meero, and Luthen Rael. Sure, we were technically introduced to Luthen already, but when he put on that wig and got into character, you saw that you really knew nothing about him yet. Mon Mothma was just that red head old lady in one scene in Return of the Jedi, so seeing that this show would develop her more as a character was a great surprise. And Dedra giving us an opportunity to see the inner workings and sinister calculations of the Empire is brilliant. I could go on and on about this show, really. Every episode has so many small details. Just seeing characters hiking up a mountain in ponchos in Star Wars is one thing. But then they put in the TIE Fighter, something that in every other movie was just target practice for the heroes with a weird noise, and in this show, it is a horrifically loud, incredibly fast instrument of war that our heroes have to hide from. A single one. Luthen's crystal is a small reference that I won't try to explain right now, but what it might mean for what Disney considers a canon part of the universe is very cool. And though "Clem" seems like a name Cassian just came up with, even that had some thought put into it, which you'll learn about eventually. They put so much thought into this show.
Forgot also watch dragons homecoming and dragons the nine realms ❤😊

Seriously.. what kind of filter are you using. Not the scratch of course but the colour filter. I know it’s zoomed in but it makes it look so.. filmic. Even more so than the original. Maybe I’m wrong but I want to watch the show like this. Feels so authentic.

It’s an old grain filter green screen and I color-corrected myself to avoid copyright with tints of blue in midtones and darker levels of lightning. Hope that helps a bit. ☺️
I'm for the team that thinks independently, but every situation is different. I think the best example, was actually in Star Wars ep 1 when the pilot sees the Trade Federation aim their guns at his ship. He reports it to the Captain and the ship is blown up, as the Captain tells him to raise the shields. An independently thinking member of the team, like say Anakin or Ahsoka, would raise the shield and defend the ship 1st...then report it.
This show deserves kudos for making you root for Imperial officers. They aren't necessarily good people, but they're great characters.
