One of the best fight scenes in film history. Too bad the rest of the movie isn't as good as the first one. It always bugged me that they forgot to redo the part where Pharoah sees her body paint is smudged on her arm, revealing that another man touched her. It's the entire reason why she tries to hide her arm behind the cat statue.

That moment throws the whole 2nd movie's notion of the "'greater love' between protagonists vs antagonists" out the window. Literally, the look that she gave him was filled with love. She was a poker face until she looked at him, she lit up, showed endearment. And, the cinematography showed how the time moved slower in her head when he walked by her. Then, all the sudden, time started moving normally, and that normal time unsettled her. What a wonderful acting to show complexity of Ank-Su-Namon. It's like whoever shot the film didn't agree with the writers, there is too much inconsistency to plainly say: She didn't love him.

This scene is pure magic. The fighting choreography is top notch, the looks are stunning, the decor looks authentic, the spoken ancient Egyptian sounds very convincing. But my favorite thing is the music. After the fight ends and people are starting to empty the chambers, the look that Imhotep and Anck-su-Namun share is accompanied by this beautiful, mysterious melody that gets stuck in your head. 12/10 scene. Bravo! Bravo!

Sad when you realise that anck-su-namun's reason for taking her own life was not because she had been separated from her lover and wanted to die with him but because she didn't want to go through the torture that awaited her for her adultery and murder so she chose the seemingly less painful death unlike imhotep who refused to leave her side and chose to suffer the consequences instead of running away. She never really loved him but only lusted after him while imhotep fought against death to bring his love back

I realized just now one amazing style choice, when Nefertiti and Anck-Su-Namun proceed in the second part of the fight without masks: in the movie there's a believable reason, which is the obvious and annoying provocation by Anck-Su-Namun, something like "hey, I just won, sure to take a second round?" But for us, viewers, is so that we can see the actresses faces, to fully appreciate their ability and devotion for playing that difficult part, instead of easily relying on stunts and doubles. Amazing, can't spend enough words to admire this finesse and passion, from the creatos to the actors. Cheers 👏🏻👏🏻

Have not you seen the mummys' transfer parade couple of month ago they had a concert of masses singing ancient Egyptian songs and playing their music. Also there is a tendency to incorporate the ancient Egyptian language in schools that will be implemented in the near future. @Not Alfie Egyptians are a mix of black, white, olive-skinned, etc. people because of where they are located. Case in point, Cleopatra's ancestry/family was most likely more Asian (Persia, Macedonia, middle east - FYI I say Asian because we're comparing continents) than African (a continent). Egypt has peoples from middle east, Europe, and of course the continent of Africa to pull people from. Just because they are Egyptian doesn't make them black. Look at the features of Egyptians, very mixed people. They probably care less about skin color because of how mixed they are. If unconvinced, here's DNA for you: www.gnxp.com/WordPress/2017/05/30/ancient-egyptians-black-or-white/ The article states that the sub-saharan African % is lower in Ancient Egyptians and more % are Easterners. Just so you don't feel that I'm being racist or putting down blacks, there ARE many black civilizations within Africa such as the Kingdom of Aksum, Nubian Kingdom of Kush, etc. Egypt is a mix race Kingdom. I'm just suggesting to please use Science and Research as our guide instead of beliefs and assumptions.

.....reminds me of how my drama class would do fight scenes - with dramatic flair and obviously out of the way twirls and moves. I tried being over dramatic and I just got tired after doing the same thing for four shows. I finally had enough and tried to end the duel - I was Macbeth and I was fighting MacDuff. Originally there was supposed to be epic combat music (imagine Two Steps from Hell version of Lion King scene Simba vs Scar), our swords and shields were wood but we had metal sound effects, we were wearing armor. The duel was supposed to last roughly 3-5 minutes with near misses and wounds. My friend who played Macduff already knew I was going to try to end it early but he wanted to fight it all out....so in the end we had an all out duel that was not planned - armor and a little of real blood flying, shields being battered. We were actually beating the shit out of each other and everyone thought it was just theatrics. The duel ended when I threw Macduff down and tried to bash in his skull....my sword broke and he impaled me with the sword.....he actually kind've stabbed me, meant to get my side but....yeah....He then finished me off with a baseball slash to the head - that we managed to do with actually hitting me and I the great Macbeth died...thank god it was the last show cause I wouldn't have been able to reproduce that.

For those talking about accuracy, I was once listening to a radio show where an egyptologist was talking about an incoming travelling exhibition of egypcian art and the conversation got to the topic of ancient Egypt in films and the expert was asked about The Mummy franchise. Well, she said that for example the background for this scene was a pleasant surprise because it depicts quite well how the Pharaoh's court may have looked, and that probably it was as a result of a good historical counselling. I already loved the two first movies, but after that I also appreciated them as more than just entertaining stuff.

In this short scene, they managed to introduce Nefertiti as a character you can care for. I certainly loved her perspective. She is a young woman here. A princess who has a lot to learn and bears the weight of one day becoming a worthy queen. She wants to make her father proud. Then her father chooses a woman, almost in her age as his next wife. She despises this woman. But despite being the princess, she can't do anything about her. Her father is the pharaoh and he chose her, and his word is a god's word. Nefertiti's feelings don't get better, when this woman defeats her every single time they duel, no matter how hard she trains. This also means if the pharaoh dies and Anck-Su-Namun gives him a son, Nefertiti’s future is also taken from her and her life will be in the hands of this woman she hates. She sees how this woman is developing a secret relationship with the high priest, behind her father's back. But she can't do anything about it either, because she can't prove it. After all of this and witnessing her father killed by the woman she despised, i couldn't stop to think, how Nefertiti's story continued. I know she most likely inherited her father's throne, but what did she do or think or feel is something what interested me. Shame there was nothing more about her.

Obviously you can see than she fell of that balcony. That's why Evie almost fell of that plane, but her husband saved her. Nefertiri died also, and reincarnated in Evie's body later... that's why Anck su namun called her "Nefertiri" when they fought.

Neither of them loved selflessly. They set up an entire scene contrasting how Fraser's character and Eve loved each other enough to want to save the other, while Imhotep asked Ancksinamun to endanger herself in a scenario where it wasn't even guaranteed she could save him let alone herself, and she didn't save him. Iirc, she also asked him at some point to run away with her but he went ahead with his plans for gaining more power. They did love each other, it just wasn't selfless and that goes both ways.

Back in the day when the actors, men or women alike, did a good portion of the physical work and training. The Matrix is another example of that. Nowadays actors generally (not including say, Tom Cruise) just let the stunt people do the majority of the work. Look at Patricia Velasquez at 1:50, the weapons training, the choreography. Of course there's going to be stunt work but it's much more subtle because the actors are doing a lot more of the action, which means you can better see that it's them with wider shots. They don't make them like this anymore.
