ANCIENT THEATER & RUINS OF ASPENDOS - TURKEY

Let's explore the ancient city of Aspendos - one of the most significant cities of Pamphylia featuring the best preserved ancient theater - the Theater of Aspendos. Throughout centuries Aspendos was governed by Greeks, Persians, and Romans. Even the most known Macedonian, Alexander the Great, once besieged this town. Let’s take a closer look at the marvelous theater and the Aspendosian Agora, which although past its prime, is certainly magical and romantic.
Let’s get to know more about the history, legends, and architecture of this wonderful place!
Explored in November 2021.

    Aspendos was founded by Mopsos a Greek explorer. A typical Roman theatre? For god sakes haven’t you seen the ancient theatres in Greece? Epidaurus ? Dodoni? Delphi theatre? The video says clearly that the architect was Greek. I am curious what plays the Romans performed. The only thing that they performed in their arenas were gladiator games.

    That theatre was something else, Irena - I'd visit for the accoustics, alone. As I've mentioned in previous comments, the geometric precision of the Ancient world's Engineers & Architects clearly demonstrates an execution (almost) to perfection. Why are so many individuals obsessed with the technologies of today, when it is evident that humankind's forefathers had already discovered the answers to many of the more fundamental (& intrinsic) problems ? Awe inspiring stuff.

If you ever travel to Olympia and Western Greece in general, you can also check the Mycenaean settlement of Chalandritsa, although it is not so promising in terms of size, findings etc. The Palace of Odysseus in Ithaca is also cool, though the access to the site is partial. Dear Ancient Sites. It was not really like that. Άσπενδος Aspendos was by Greeks in 1000 BC. The Persians had their fleet in the nearby river during a very short time. The Romans came in 190 BC and yes the theater was constructed during this era in greco-roman style by a Greek arkitekt. Here is a piece of advice: Read the facts before you enter Turkey. In Turkey they avoid to mention the word ”greek” when it comes to monuments from the ancient times.

  • @ercanylmaz967

    @ercanylmaz967

    We can say the same for greece. U can see that there r no mosques in athens today, one was building but i dont know işt is finished or not. Greeks trying to erase Turkish culture from all greece. We ruled there for hundres of years. Always be objective.

  • @Berlusconio

    @Berlusconio

    @@ercanylmaz967 you mean like all the buildings, city names churches that turks destroyed to cover than Armenians lived there long before turks came from mongolia or how turks lie about what horrors they have commited and will not acknowledge. And how Turks and kurds claim they are Hittites and than they are the ones that build Gök.T aka Portasar. Thx to modern technology and DNA test, that has finally proved that Hittites and Armenians have the exact same DNA. All ancient buildings that once stood there turks have erased to cover up the truth. Another lie killed and and carved in stone. 18.000+ yrs of history changes alot of europs history that once already where know to human kind but neglected on perpuse. There where no turks or " Anatolians" back then as they are trying to say today to print in another lie. But there where Armenians.🤙🏻🤘🏻
