Love your journeys Rick but Roman Religion - similar to Greek and Celtic religions DID HAVE a concept of the after life - Hades, Elysian Fields etc. So it’s incorrect they had no concept of ‘salvation’. It just wasn’t required - you automatically had an afterlife based on your deeds on Earth.
I would watch Rick more if they updated their camera gear. They probably think that 90s television flur is good but it’s not. Take a look at how modern travel bloggers shoot

But he's not a modern travel blogger. Rick started his European travels in the 80s and is probably considered the original when it comes to documenting travel for the masses. His 'Rick Steves Europe' documentaries started in 2000 so of course the filmography won't be as crisp and clear as those featured now in 2023. It's not about thinking "90s television four" is good. 🤔🙄

This video was posted three weeks ago, which means it is 2023. The crew is definitely using modern phones with better built-in cameras. So, the decision to film it using ancient gear was made on purpose. Moreover, incorporating modern performance will attract a larger audience, which can help the blog to grow and showcase great content to more people.

@@oranjevoeNFor those that are familiar with Rick Steves blog and his videos, know that his channel will post excerpts from his original episodes. So while this was recently posted, it originally aired at a different time. It wasn't filmed this year in 2023. I would have to double check but I believe he last visited Italy in early 2010s.
Wow
You are so wrong again: The history of Rome did not start in the forum.

Please explain how the history of Rome originated instead? I don’t think Rick was mistaken about the Seven Hills of Rome being the foundation of the Forum. It is considered to be the original city centre and contains many important historical buildings.

😅 ok friend. I'm not sure who defecated in your shredded grain-based breakfast cereal, but it seems to me you're being a little bit unnecessarily confrontational just for the sake of confrontation. No, the Forum is not the very beginning of the story of Rome, but it *is* the point in its history at which it first deviated significantly from the norms of the time and began to exhibit qualities and tendencies that set them apart from their contemporary civilizations, and propelled them to both unsurpassable greatness, and inevitable ruin. I would argue then that although it may not be the first historical chapter of Rome, it is the first part of their story which is generally interesting and unique enough to be worth telling about [generally speaking, unless you're a historian by profession], and serves just fine as a place to begin from for most folks.
