Ancient Corinth

Reconstruction of ancient Corinth city as it was in II century AD, in Roman Empire ages. It contains the whole city, the central part with Agora, temple of Apollon, theatre and Odeon, and also hippodrome, gymnasium, temple of Asclepius and amphitheatre. Near the city is Acrocorinth mountain with fortress and temples.

From viewing this I am getting the impression that this is the rebuilt city of Corinth after its destruction by the Romans in 146 BC. The presence of a Roman-type triumphal arch and what looks like a mini-coliseum suggests heavy Roman influence as these structures weren't usually in original Greek cities

Very nice, but I saw one inaccuracy right away: ancient cities did not have a lot of free-standing buildings or large open spaces like in this vid. Only the large public buildings--theaters, markets, temples, etc. were free standing. To conserve space, domestic buildings all shared walls and even roofs so that, from the air, a city block would look like one large, continuous building or complex, with only the interior courtyards and rooflines to distinguish between individual dwellings. I noticed in this vid that all the buildings had separation as if it were a modern city. Just not the case in the past.

Love your work. I bet it takes thousands of hourse to create such a city. I have some suggestions. Cologne and Trier and its archticetial Peaks. I guess, London and Bath looked similar during the architectual peaks. And a much smaler, therefore not as much time spending project, but would be aswome aswell: The roman saalburg fortres in germany with the correct pinnacles With the surounding villages and some Limes with some Limes watch towers. There is a virtuall video of the Saalburg frotres, but i am sure you with your team can do it much better! The city of Antiocchia am Orontes had street lights. Oh and i am sure you have think of making a video of Bayblon with the pretty Ishta Gate!!!

Amazing! This is the real original Doric Corinth, not the Roman Corinth. Following the destruction of Corinth in 146 BC, which was carried out by consul Lucius Mummius Achaicus, Corinth was completely rebuilt in 44 BC by Julius Caesar, when it became the capital of the Roman province of Achaea.

Nevertheless, these reconstructions don't revel the massive labor of craftspeople, freed laborers, and slaves in the ongoing requirements to design, maintain, and construct these magnificent but labor intensive facilities. The human cost of health, injury, and fatality must have been phenomenal.

I adore all these incredible 3D models that have appeared on KZread the last few years. I watch every single one of them. You can learn more from watching one video one time then you can from reading a whole book. I honestly hate to be negative about these amazing models because I love them but they are all too perfect. Ancient cities were a lot dirtier with heaps of organic litter from animals and hay and wood. Every bldg wasn't perfectly constructed and there was discoloration, dirt, standing water and haphazard engineering on some buildings. No matter how they nice they were for the time it was still like living in a barn. They didn't know better but we do.
