Not brahma but brahman is the supreme God. Bhagwan brahma, vishnu, shiva and every other gods and goddess are a part of brahman.

I appreciate you interest in our culture but Brahma wasn't the first God in existence. It was Shiva and Vishnu I think. A Lotus grew out of Lord Vishnu's navel which after opening revealed Lord Brahma inside. Even this universe wasn't created by Brahma, it was created by a Goddess i think it was Goddess Katyayani

Gods (Advanced Aliens) wanted to introduce new technologies in less advanced civilisations. Indian region was one of the leading civilisations (at least at that time), so they chose to make it their headquarters. Other gods around the world were either a part of this alien civilisation or a different civilisation. They also wanted to observe us, humans, as our technologies evolved. The technologies introduced by them may have been too much for us humans to grasp at that time. So, when they realized this after staying on our planet, they left. These gods are not hiding from us, they have just gone back to their adobe. After a period of 5000, 10000 years or more they will come back to note any changes in Earth. As for the human forms of these gods, maybe they evolved in planet much like ours and maybe their appearance was similar to ours.
