I was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago. Surgery removed the cancer, but I also had preventative chemo/radiation as the cancer had spread to two lymph nodes. Telling my boy I had cancer was so hard, especially with him old enough to have met cancer before. Going through treatment was horrendous, and trying to stay me through it all was incredibly hard. If I had been forced to announce what I was going through to the world, open that door into my most frightening and vulnerable time, because people just couldn't mind their own damn business and think that just maybe people are hiding stuff because it's private and personal, and they don't WANT to talk about it yet....well I'd be a lot less gracious and dignified than Kate was in that announcement. Now I hope she can be left alone so focus all her energy where it belongs, on getting through her treatment, and being with her family.

No, she can't be left alone. You people don't get it. She's a public figure she holds a title. There is no expectation of privacy. The family is supported by the British public and therefore obligated to report even their medical status. Harry has been trying to fight for more privacy but no one supported him in his fight. So, they get what they get. They can only ask for privacy but they can't make the press give them that privacy. Get over it.

I know just how you felt when you said how you were going to break it to your children. The coming months are going to be very, very tough. Msm were publishing the headlines Presenters were DEMANDING announcements... We were informed, she was out of commission until Easter, but that wasnt acceptable to THE MSM....! My Aunt has a stage 4 breast cancer. After her breast removal operation she underwent chemotherapy, which happened when she was 24 years old and the doctor told her that she only had a year to live. But God has planned for her to be cancer free after her chemotherapy and live until she was 92 years old. She died because of old age and not of her cancer. @@188CRA I think (though can’t be certain) they are pointing out the difference between the average Joe with cancer compared to those in the Royal family. Kate won’t have to endure long waiting lists or worry about getting the best possible treatment, or find out if certain meds she needs are dependent on her postcode. She won’t have to stress about financial issues or worry if she’s too tired to look after her children. She has the comfort of knowing that she will be given the best treatment there is and thus have the best chance there is of beating her disease. She will have the best consultants, the best therapists, and she’ll be able to take as much time off as she feels is necessary to recover. And if she needs psychological support, she’ll have the best psychologists at hand too. Don’t think for one minute I’m suggesting Kate is having an easy time of it; no one with a cancer diagnosis has it easy. She deserves all the sympathy and compassion she is receiving, in my opinion. I think the OP is pointing out that others in the same or similar situations don’t have such privileges, and as a result, their odds might not be as good as they ought to be. We pay for the Royals, and we also pay for our NHS service through taxation and National Insurance. People are becoming increasingly upset that our NHS is not delivering as it should. What was once a very efficient system is now struggling, and as a result, people suffer and die unnecessarily

Poor William, your father diagnosed with cancer, your wife diagnosed with cancer, the public attention and often lack of respect and then you have three young kids to take care of. I’m not even going to go on about the terrible situation with his brother. And while all this is going on, at the same time, he has to deal with the threat that he might have to step up and take over the thrown if Charles is no longer able to fulfill that role. One can only hope he has all the strength and support and that everything will end well and everybody will be healthy. So, leave them alone and show some respect. The media as well as everybody else.

Poor William: his mom died when he was a kid, his dad has cancer, his wife has cancer, his brother is a stranger, his grandparents are dead. Hope he has a friend to help him.

She has had cancer for a while, or it is pretty aggressive from the look of her. Unlike most women, Kate will have the best treatment money can buy, but even then, it may not be enough. Wish her well for her children's sake.

She really is a class act, and be fitting of a queen to be, so many others just don’t get it, even in her own family and relatives. And around the world for that matter, but this woman has displayed, enormous, strength, dignity , they’ve treated her horribly in recent months for absolutely no reason whatsoever in the media.

I have survived cancer three times. The first time should of killed me. Please send Positivity and Prayers. She will beat this. I'm also on a chemo pill for 5 years. It is preventative, for the most part the side affects aren't as bad as liquid Chemo. Please send good vibes. ❤❤❤❤❤Sending Kate all the love, hugs and positivity. She can beat this.

Thanks. I am so far 3 years so far into recovery. Like me she is having preventative treatment. That means they got it all, so just in case there's a cell which got away, they can kill it off. The worse part is waiting for test results every few months

Anyone can get Cancer. Do not dig into other people's lives as you don't die. And those who suffered from it or at least a family member of a cancer patient knows how hard it is to cope up with. Please let her have her privacy at this difficult time. Bless her for a speedy recovery.

I was diagnosed with kidney cancer two years ago. As a single mother in her 40's with 3 kids (mine are older, though, 2 were already over 18), I can remember the struggle to just get the words out of my mouth when telling my kids and parents. I can't even imagine having to tell the world. She and her family are in my thoughts and prayers, and I really hope people leave them alone.

She's a lovely, elegant, graceful young lady.

Leave her alone! All these people analyzing her words, expressions, and body language, even her choice of clothing and where she recorded the message. Leave this woman alone. Anyone going through chemo, and after invasive abdominal surgery at that, does not need this intense public scrutiny. Compassion and empathy are called for.

It takes guts to tell the world you have cancer. The Princes of Wales probably felt compelled to act because of the wider situation. It is great telling cancer patients they are not alone, however The princess of Wales is up against it, she stands alone in her fight because that is reality. She is remarkable how she thinks of others in these terrible circumstances. Love and support is one thing but reality tells me LEAVE the Princess alone and let her fight the illness, that is the best way of ensuring she makes it through successfully. She is still young with a young family, it is with peace and understanding from the public that will aid and facilitate her recovery. Media should take her off the radar until she is well.
