Ancestry DNA Results (Grenadian)

Since everyone else was doing it, I figured, "Why the hell not?!"
Born & raised in Brooklyn to Grenadian parents.
Results start at 3:00.
I'm an African Queen y'all!
I may not seem excited in the video, but trust me I am.
I had to record the video multiple times so after a while, I was just tired of talking LOL.
I used a kit from Ancestry DNA.
Ordered kit: July 18, 2016.
Received kit: July 23, 2016.
Sent sample: July 26, 2016
Ancestry received sample: August 1, 2016
Received results: September 4, 2016

Cool results! My dad was Grenadian and my mom is Filipino..I came up with 50% African, which pretty much means my dad was full 100% African..beautifully rare:) The African blood is very thick in most of the Caribbean-- especially in the Lesser Antilles.

that 2% could be statistical noise. You're all African love.

Not likely noise, the statistical methods of the current leading ancestry testing services have statistical noise levels that are sub 1% in accuracy this varies with the number of representative samples in the services utilized data sets but for African and Asia both 23 and Me and Ancestry by DNA have sizable sample sizes for their result assessments. I don't know if it is the case for ancestry by dna but 23 and Me allows a client to infer how confidence the service is with reading sections of dna as belonging to specific ancestry. A convenient slider allows one to shift from 50% confidence (the lowest) listed as speculative to as much as 90% confidence (conservative). One can gauge the relative support they have in their underlying data set by how much the percentage of ancestry varies as one slides it. For example, 23 and Me has a rather large European representative data set of 6421 individuals, it has a sizable data set for Asian/ Native America of 808, followed by middle east /north african at 550, Sub saharan African at 228, South Asian at 207 and Oceana at 3. They supplement their private set with some public ones but the point is there is a lot more certainty in reading European signals in their marker test than any other ethnicity across confidence range. This helps one suss out if a reported ancestry is highly correlated or some what speculative across the entire range....for example.....my 23 and Me report showed that I was 78.1% SSA with 50% confidence but that goes down dramatically to 16.7% at 90% confidence why? Because the low SSA set size makes it hard for them to confidentially identify SSA *only* dna and at that strong confidence much of the dna buckets into "unassigned" ...this is owing to it not being known to their data set (since the data set is small). In contrast my European which is 20% at 50% confidence only falls to 16.3% at 90% , their large sample of representation makes them highly confident that the identified markers have European components across the speculative to conservative range. This allows me to infer if the 1.4% Native American/ Asian reported for my ancestry is "real" and not noise. At 50% it's 1.4 but sliding to conservative it only ticks down to 1.2% The Asian data set is second in size to the European one and so likewise has high confidence...this bit of my dna is most assuredly Asian in the eyes of their test across their confidence range. Thus one can infer just how real given signals are by using this tool.

French surname for a black carribean,South Americans,North American blacks doesn't mean a person is part French.Haitians got French surnames and speak French that doesnt make them French decent .Their colonisers and slave traders or masters were French (European).BlackJamaicAns speak English and got English surnames and it don't mean they are From England or English decent .Their slave masters were English (white).

Incredible results!! That's great. I understand the shock factor. According to my family I should've been majority African, European and Native American. My results are 94% African, 5% European and I % Pacific Islander. I'm very happy with my results though. I know these tests aren't 100% but they're pretty close. It's wonderful to finally know.

We black Americans all have admixture. Some of us alot, some a little. Don't know if that person is black or not. If you're 65% or 95% African, the world sees you as black, period.
