I have the same problem with the Dpad on every anbernic device. Fighting games are a no go because the diagonal only works on the right side, if you change sides you can't pull fireballs easily. I have that issue on the RG351V, 280V and 351p. I'm surprised it's the first time it's mentioned.

  • @rerolledDK

This is offered at a fantastic price for the hardware. It looks like Anbernic really did their homework in dialing in a SoC selection that will be capable of running at full speed on just about everything you would want to emulate without thumbsticks (except Saturn :P ) at the lowest possible price. It is quite lacking on the software side though. I really hope they open it up to CFW developers so that the full potential of this system is unlocked. At under $60, it seems almost inevitable that this will develop more than enough of a following to warrant a CFW. I have high hopes for the future of this device. With the stock firmware, I don't think it stands any hope of dethroning the RG280v as my current favorite handheld, but a CFW could change that. At its price and with better software options, I really think this could become the default answer when someone asks what retro handheld they should start with.

I love the size and overall design, but not being able to play your games in the correct aspect ratio is a total deal breaker and I'd rather play on the smaller Miyoo Mini with the correct aspect ratio. If Anbernic fixes that issue, adds the option to play Game Boy games in green and black, and fixes the SNES clock speed and Genesis scrolling problems (which is admittedly quite a lot of problems) I'd definitely consider picking up an RG35XX though!

Thanks for confirming there is a sleep function. just want to clarify that it does work while a game is running and paused? you showed it while in the menus. as for custom firmware... it seems the os is fine but the emulators are lacking options and performace. hopefully the community can update the emulators if not the entire system. speaking of which one common issue with cps1 games is that the game settings in the real hardware are physical switches called dip switches, and the emulator has to specifically emulate these hardware switches in order to change game settings (the game software cannot change these settings). its a common oversight to miss this feature when final burn or mame is ported. can you confirm these are implemented? thanks as usual great video.

Definitely waiting for news of a custom OS. This seems to be a perfect secondary retro device, but the software is a huge miss.

Russ, can you make a tier list of the most confortable to less confortable handheld? I bough the RG552 but kinda regretted because its not confortable to use L&R when using action games like MEGAMAN... and that thing is not cheap ... i wish I had gone for Retroid Pocket 3...

Question: Is there an option to save the place that I reached in the game? It means saving the last place I reached. I mean, if I played and reached a certain stage, can I save and exit the game and complete it on another day?

This is the device i got most hyped about because it look just like a GBC and i only play gameboy games with no real use for the analogs, but this atrocious firmware is a no-go for me, i really hope that the community can do something about it.

@RetroGameCorps the miyoo mini buttons look like they would fit the Rg35xx really easily. have you tested to see if we can use those buttons on this device?

My hands will enjoy this much more than the Miyoo Mini, but I might hold out for CFW before taking the plunge.

I still prefer the Miyoo Mini due to its size. The 35XX might be more comfortable to hold but I'm only using the Miyoo Mini for brief gaming sessions anyway so I'm not too concerned with that. If I were using it for hours at a time I might prefer the 35XX, but at that point I would want to use a device with a larger screen.

I just wish the Miyoo Mini wasn't so fragile. As a klutz it kinda makes the device completely inaccessible to me. My RG280V has been nice though, and with cfw it is pleasant to use.

@@nefireous2720 the RG280V is imo the best mini device. Adam is a great firmware, the screen is pretty nice, and it's much more sturdy than the Miyoo Mini and imo much more comfortable to hold.

Makes me wonder why the Miyoo Mini is sold out everywhere when everyone here is complaining about it's size being too small? Are kids buying these handhelds? I guess not.

@@wizzel22 I see people who don't have one worried about it's size but I don't see many people, if any, who own one complaining about the size. Like I said I think it's size is perfect.

In case any Manufacturer reads this: Do a V90 with a 480p display but slightly faster. Maybe with Bt for speakers and 20% bigger, and android WITH Playstore and a touch display? Done, all anyone will ever need for 8 & 16 bit.
