Heya Mikey! What is your take on USB hubs that translate SFP to USB etc. I have a streamer that can output USB3.0 SFP to a hub that then translates it to USB 2.0 to connect to a DAC. Is this snake oil or an actual way to clean USB signal to the DAC. I know most higher end DACs are galvanicly isolated. What do you think?

NUTS!!!! What a system. Thanks for sharing. I believe XLR are used in pro systems for both secure connections and long runs without interference. Don't think the average Joe will get anything out of it in their hifi system. Those tubes are about a foot in diameter right? I think calling them bass traps is a stretch unless they are some sort of membrane trap or Helmholtz resonator. Otherwise, they aren't affecting much below like 250-300hz. Anyhow, your rig is amazing and something to aspire to.

I’m continually unimpressed with million dollar systems with one amp attempting to power multiple drivers through a network of resistors, inductors and capacitors. The domestic ‘audiophile’ industry is forty years behind. PMC, LINN, Sanders all successfully employ active systems (I’m not including the tiny monitors with inbuilt, class D amps).

I did not say he created it. He hired Ed Meitner at Sony. Ed does not design digital circuits, he is an analog designer. So as I understand it, they left Sony together to start Emm Labs, which was Ed's company. They used concepts they learned developing SACD at Sony. Then Andreas left and started Playback Designs. Andreas' name is on the 1984 patent for Sample Rate conversion. That's tough to beat. Designed the first digital gear for the leading global professional master tape recorders, Studer of Switzerland. So whether Andreas started off with Ed or came 4 years later does not shake that he is the Grandfather of digital music in my mind.

Most liked comment, speaks volumes even though no one else has spoken. If you took 1/100th of the money you spent on the gear and actually treated this space, a $2000 dollar system with a DIY speakers and sub with apple TV as streamer and Denon x3500H receiver would run circles around this setup. All this time, gear, money and you neglected the most important part....the room....3 rockwool panels? 2 diffusers and 3 "bass" tubes in the room. Man, I wonder what a waterfall plot would like in this room, especially with things literally made to resonate....The worst part is, your followers will continue to chase after the gear instead of the fundamentals....the room. And they'll keep buying gear, wondering why their system doesn't sound as amazing as you explain it could sound.

Your thumbnail picture looks like the Elmo Muppet. You said that the Balanced input (XLR) is superior to RCA input in your opinion. It's not just your opinion. It's fact. It's difficult to try and eliminate all the noise that's imposed on a cable from other sources including the 60 cycles all around us in the air. It's chasing your tail to try and eliminate all the electrical noise from a listening space, where the balanced input amplifies the difference between the signals on a twisted pair cable. Any noise will be equally imposed on both conductors and as such will be ignored by the differential amplifier circuit on the input. Bottom line the noise to signal ratio is always going to be much lower on XLR than it will be with RCA. Sure, you can get better shielded cables to help the RCA but that will never eliminate all the noise picked up by the cable.

Say the name and EVERYONE will know the name of that little red bastard. Consider my job complete !! Insofar as RCA, maybe I should have just said RCA is underdesigned bullshit and blows chunks ??

@@OCDHIFiGuy I don't think so, you have different subs and have a lot of prestige between who follow your channel and consider important your knowladge, so, if you change your mind and think about these points, I would appreciate a video about these subwoofers. Thank you "Watson"!

I have big doubts about the room. Why combining a third class low ceiling room with first class gear?

Oh yeah, you're right, Thomas. I should just FORGET my hobby in the house that I own due to room constraints. LOL. Instead, I put my balls on the line and made it work. Maybe you can tell us about YOUR audio system in the house that you own... 😆 🤣 😂

@@OCDHIFiGuy; my room an gear is super modest and simplistic. Room is 26x14.5x9.3 feet (L/W/H), partially open on long side. No room treatment done - never felt the need as it sounds really great. Loudspeaker are 3-way full active pro studio monitors from German manufacturer “Geithain”, model ME901k1. DAC/Preamp is Mytek Brooklyn. TT is Clearaudio Concept with MC “Benz Micro Gold”, Music Server is a Synology, Streamer is a wiim pro. As said, all is very modest compared to the gear you are showing.

The panels’ dispersion pattern works favourably with limited height rooms.

DSP sounds like shit. It throws a scrim over the entire presentation. Any benefits derived from employing digital correction are IMHO rendered null and void because the transparency is literally ruined.

Music cannot be bought with money. Unfortunately. When a person claims that he has achieved something and there is nothing more to strive for, this is a big misconception. Your system can't play music, it plays sounds, that's a big difference. Most bloggers are just like you. For 20 years you still haven’t realized that you haven’t heard the music.
