this album only really clicks with me when im going through hard drug withdrawals, or i am completely breaking down mentally. it is comforting.

They were the pioneers of the subgenre. Legendary. True artistry!! It's amazing the transformation they've undertaken. Bands just don't do that kind of thing! But even in their new style, they're really leaders. They're just truly legendary!

Have to agree with many comments below. It is the best record of Anathema and likely one of the best in doom metal genre.

I don't know if you've heard it or not but you should check out my dying bride Trinity and mindrot soul and mindrot forlorn for a long time it was the only two bands that I considered as sounding the way I thought doom metal should sound but I also used to have this album a long time ago and really liked it I haven't been interested enough in any of their other work to listen to all the way through .

@@vinceharrin4490 Despite the fact i grew up on Doom and Death metal bands era early and mid 90s, i have never heard of Mindrot. Of course I am familiar with My Dying Bride and i learnt about them around the same time as Anathema. However "Turn Loose The Swans" remains my all time favourite from MDB, which i rate very highly and it is in my top 5 😀 of all time. Song ''Your River" is epic 👆
