Nordic dance duo anamē, Danish singer-songwriter Lydmor and GRAMMY-winning artist Steve Smith collaborate on ‘Beautiful World Field Notes: Unplugged’, out now on Anjunabeats.
The collaborative work of Marcus Schössow and Thomas Sagstad reached its latest apex last year with their debut album ‘Beautiful World’, a record that the pair have envisioned since first meeting over two decades ago. Following on from solo work with the likes of Swedish House Mafia, Axwell /\ Ingrosso and Kaskade over the last ten years, the duo’s debut album is the latest milestone in their expansive discographies.
Originally featured as part of ‘Beautiful World’, ‘Peaceful Avenues’ is renowned as one of the biggest moments in anamē’s set lists. Earlier this year, the anthemic track saw its own single release alongside multiple new mixes.
'Peaceful Avenues’ (Unplugged) saw Lydmor deliver a slow and emotional rendition of the popular track from a grand piano in Above & Beyond's studio. Also included was a shorter edit of the original, as well as a full piano 'Unplugged' Instrumental Mix; the latter lept to the #13 trending song on Instagram Reels only two weeks after its release.
Now, anamē follow it up with the release of ‘Beautiful World Field Notes: Unplugged’, an EP that showcases further acoustic and instrumental renditions of celebrated album tracks ‘Anywhere (Road Trippin')’, as well as title track ‘Beautiful World’ with Steve Smith.
Widely known as a member of the GRAMMY-winning act Dirty Vegas, Steve Smith and anamē share a history of collaboration. “I love Steve,” Sagstad says. “I worked with him four years ago on a record with Sultan + Shepard and that was like a dream come true for me. It’s called Beautiful World, it’s the title record, and I think he encapsulates all of it.”
