That stuff about the director trying to stick to the manga 1:1 is so true. It can be good to add new content and make use of the extra time the episodes have like look at zoro vs king for example.

Welin zhang's animated scene was really good but i think it was too much to comprehend at once

The animation was really great but the pacing and being unable to see some of the important frames because of how fast it happens were it's weakpoints. As well as the amount of times they did flashbacks to stuff that just happened.

@@alexanderyordanmulia4384 i felt like it was pretty fast since it adapted a full chapter. toei normally like half a chapter. and they could've added more scenes from 1045, but they didn't want to since 1072 is supposedly better (from leakers) they had to add flashbacks to make the pacing slower.

I did not expect for the introduction episode to go absolutely insane and the flashbacks and pacing issue? I fast forwarded them and had no issue and fully enjoyed the episode and watched it like 5 more times. 10/10 easy

As an episode, 7/10 : -1 for over extended flash backs, -2 for using the same 15 second animation not 1 not 2 but 3 times in one episode.

I've said it before and I'll say it again throughout this episode I could just picture Luffy thinking" Why the long face Kaido death greets us all with a smile didn't your mother teach you that when someone greets you it's rude not to smile back."

Good episode but that wasn't a perfect adaptation, I'm dissapointed I was expecting way more. When you add flashback that breaks the flow of the episode, or when they re-use the same animation 3 times in the same episode. I'm also upset they didn't add an ost on the gorosei speech, but that's very personal. The Zoro vs King or episode 1015 that adapted chapter 1010 are perfect adaptation. I was hoping this episode would be the best onigashima episode, but I wouldn't even put it in my top 5.

The new ending animate by Masami Mori was so beautyful, cant wait for the next.😍

Overall a fantastic adaptation. The use of flashbacks was hit or miss. I liked the quick cuts that led up to the Gear 5 title card. The ones with the recap of the Roofpiece battle and the one from the end of 1069 were too long. Also they reused some animations with Luffy bouncing around. Not a perfect episode, but I would say a definite improvement from Nagamine's last outing, probably due to having more pages to adapt.

The repetitive nature and the dragged on scenes is so unbearable I had to swap to the manga. If Toei is so desperate to have something every week why don't they just go back and reanimate old shows, including one piece and release them in seasons, now you can have something every week and stop this nonsense of dragging things to a snails pace constantly

@gorotaro832 Ok, but what you said makes no sense..... we still have to wait for Oda to release the chapters anyway? The current one-piece anime just continues with filler/ unnecessary flashbacks or repetitious dialogue. The solution is simple. Stop after wano. Make it seasonal from Egg head. Start new animes/remakes of old ones that are seasonal. Once egg head is ready it airs, then go back to the other animes that are hopefully ready. Then back to one piece when it's ready. And you can reboot one piece too, so you can have a seasonal reboot of one piece with the seasonal continuation of the current anime and either seamlessly combine them from Egg head, or just continue the reboot as is until its finished.

Good analysis. Even if it doesn't have much re - watch value (because of Hiyori and the flashbacks) I think the episode delivered. I liked that they went over the top with some animations. It had to be that way.

@@marcoantonioescartinfranci3064 that's even more surprising though. Yen's animation change everytime, in every show he works on. In Chansaw man his animation was definitely Nakamura-inspired, then I mistook his work in 1062 was Katsumi Ishizuka, and now this one looks so much like Ota 😅

Fantastic breakdown 💯 This was, as mentioned, such a historic episode. I really enjoyed it to my heart and couldn't stop smiling/laughing when seeing G5 Luffy. I was fine with the Hiyori and Orochi section, even though it could've used a more creative and dynamic approach in storyboarding and direction. I'd say my only real issue with the episode comes in the form of the CP0 flashback, which was just unnecessarily long. However, I'll happily let it slide as it was at the tail of the episode, and the payoff of what came before it was just too damn heavenly. I mean just seeing Kojima and Vincent doing such phenomenal scenes for the introductory parts is enough to make this an all-timer.

Idk why Ishitani didnt work on this EP, She always delivers on Emotion heavy episodes. Nagamine shouldve directed 1072, Which is a complete action packed ep

The major points of destruction is the reused animation 3x back to back practically and if they just put the hiyori moment in the beginning to keep the pacing.

This epsiode delivered way too perfectly

You were far too kind here, they really fumbled this episode and genuinely did not understand how to punctuate comedic looney tunes styled comedic scenes, we've even literally seen better classic Cartoon scenes done better in the past when Luffy/Law/Kidd play chicken and choose to tank a fire homie with slunk back triple chins. The storyboarding and direction lead to absolutely terrible pacing on the animation side despite some excellent core animation. I don't know if you know any anime only viewers but I watched it with anime only viewers and they didn't even know what the hell was going on with the blast breath bounce back scene. It was NOT exactly what the scene needed, what the hell? This was a big miss given the talent and anticipation, I'm not even going to address the low hanging fruit criticism in reused animation and flashback scenes in a would be all time iconic episode. I couldn't really disagree more with the sky splitting scene being great, much like many scenes in the episode it was mega rushed* The colour composition was excellent in a lot of scenes and Luffys VA did a phenomenal job, the actual art itself was at times stunning but I think evaluating the animation from a frame by frame perspective and not how it actually is presented in the episode changes things a lot, I went back and seen so much stuff I liked but on an actual casual viewing it didn't land. There was a lot of good animation used terribly. I never thought Id want for more panning shots in a One Piece episode but my god there were a lot of scenes that needed extra still frames of all things. This would have been a tremendous episode for a non-climax moment for sure but in context this is a fumble. It might be a top 20-30ish episode but I expected top 10.

​@@tracark2255 I never said it was "inspired by" I said it was a classic cartoon scene done better, as in, it's the same slapstick styled humour as Tom & Jerry / Looney Tunes and most specifically something from Daffy Duck, it was just executed better and the slapstick humour in this episode. Also, out of curiosity, how do you know it wasn't inspired by classic cartoons? Oda likes Classic Cartoons enough to make his main character have toon forced style powers but not to inspire his gags?

the people complaining need to remember that previous transformation episodes, especially dressrosa had the episodes begin at minute 10, recaps everywhere, chibis showing where everyone was, trash animation. One Piece fans a little too well fed rn, if we get back to dressrosa animtion after wano, dont complain, yall wanted it

@@gamingparadise3390 No not really, there moments of extremely off putting close up shots and wanky scenes that were too fast. Animation only was like 7/10. Repeated scenes and long stalling which greatly affect the pacing made the episode average in my opinion. 1072 should be better hopefully.

The episode was amazing but in terms of animation it is not the greatest animated episodes ever in Japanese anime. That title still belong to Demon Slayer S1 ep 19, S2 episode 10, and even S3 episode 11. It is ok though, it is the best weekly ongoing anime episode. Toei cannot pump a million dollars into every single episode.

I mean exactly as I say. Demon Slayer is the best looking anime that exist today. New Bleach content is giving it a run for its money though. Sanji vs Queen was one battle Since Bleach and DS are not ongoing weekly anime it stands to reason if they were their animation quality would be much lower.

All he should've done is cross check it more. Even Henry, the animator working on one piece told to wait for 2 to 3 days for sakuga nerds to get actual facts on who animated what. This Klum guy assumed some other Chris guy for actual Chris(@yen_bum). He rushed to make a video claiming animators work. He should've done better analysis. Also when he mistook and got pointed out , he should've apologized politely. But nah he used words like salt cry baby

Maybe the next Episode will get more then 1 Chapter. I mean 1017 got the Treatment, so why not 1072 with all the Hyped stuff.
